“The world isn’t waiting for more of the same”
Video essays, stories, films.
John is the creator of "This is a Story." He is a self-recognized film person who sometimes has interesting things to say and sometimes does not. He currently lives in a small cubby, which he finds soothing and peaceful. He began his career as a door-to-door salesman, a job which he found too exciting and promptly quit after a particularly daring incident with a ferret. You can sometimes find John on the Today Show, where he likes to stand behind the glass and hold a sign which reads, “Hi, Mr. Roker.” He is currently missing. Having gone up in a hot air balloon, never to return. If you have information on him, please don’t.

why you like that one character who's actually evil
Daniel Radcliffe is an amazing actor. He's done well. The movies I've seen with him outside of Harry Potter (and I should watch more! I've been meaning to watch the Weird Al movie for a while now) we're all great. I loved Horns, great movie.
There is so much sh*t on TH-cam but this excellent piece is well written analysis of George C Scott.. Thank you
I knew about him because of The Rescuers Down Under and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM. HE IS SO HILARIOUS. AND PERSONALLY HE MIGHT BE ONE OF MY CELEBRITY CRUSHES. (Except he’s no longer alive so that sucks. ☹️)
His Scrooge is, imho, the best performance of the character ever. Watching the movie every Christmas is a tradition.
ONE OF MY VERY FAVORITE ACTORS OF ALL TIME.. THE BEST PORTRAYAL OF EBENEZER SCROOGE,, IS MY FAVORITE PERFORMANCE BY GEORGE..
*THE* best Ebenezer Scrooge. Hands Down. It's not Christmas without watching "A Christmas Carol" starring George C. Scott.
Scott has so many powerful scenes in movies. When he's thrown against the cell wall in Exorcist III, and gives the "I believe" speech, ending with him screaming "YOU SON OF A B1TCH!" with spit flying out of his mouth, I get chills every time. Parts of the film Hardcore were filmed in my hometown. There is a scene where Scott's character is shown his missing daughter in an adult film. His slow burn during the scene, leading up to him fully breaking down emotionally is a perfect example of the power you got when you hired George C. Scott for a role. And those two films are rarely considered his best performances.
That voice...
I would have loved to have seen his Richard III, and his Shylock. Joe Papp really helped him.
The most underrated actor ever.
First time on your channel, massively enjoyed it, thank you for your commitment.
In the 1950s, a reporter asked a screen writer if she was disappointed that her screenplay hadn't won the Oscar. She said: "Look - Hollywood is a place where they give awards for acting to Charlton Heston."
The last great actor was, unequivocally Mr. George C. Scott. RIP.
He play acted for a living and was a violent drunk.
Among the very best. From Anotomy of a Murder to Paton, always my favorite.
Great presentation of a Great Actor I liked the mix and match comparisons and comments from his contemporaries.
George C. Scott was a better Patton than Patton.
The 2 best movie actors for expressing anger were Kirk Douglas and George C. Scott.
Another fine actor loved him in The Changeling. He never accepted the Oscar for Patton . He wasn't found of them neither was Kate Hepburn. I feel it a privilege to have lived with these actors including Gene Hackman Clint Eastwood Robert Duvall the list is endless.
Interesting video but the subject is not all Scott. Watched for ten minutes and the subject switched to the Oscars (in general), Cagney, and other things. Disappointing.
Something about him which can’t be taught. Not in these clips mind you
Drew Casper of Southern Cal claims here that Scott went to the University of Virginia but Scott's Wikipedia page says he went to the University of Missouri. This piece says his father was a coal miner before moving the family to Pontiac, Michigan. Scott's Wikipedia page only says that his father was a "Buick executive." Since Scott was born in Wise, Virginia, in coal country, his father could certainly have been a coal minor. And since he moved the family to Pontiac, Michigan, a car town, he could have later become a car-company executive--though that would be quite the career leap for a one-time coal-miner.
Excellent piece---very well done, though I would have liked to hear more about Scott's personal life.
Much obliged for this video.
Much obliged with this noble tribute to George C Scott. It was his performance in the movie ''Patton'' that inspired me to volunteer and go to the war in Viet-Nam, which I later regretted.
Thank you very much for your kind words and donation, and although you regret it, thank you for your service as well.
Elizabeth Taylor was the last movie star.
Leonardo Dicaprio and Brad Pitt are movie stars in a Hollywood filled with super hero childrens movies. They are the last male stars.
Kirk Douglas was a notorious over actor who tried to steal scenes and was resented for it. I liked watching him. He was good at.😅😂❤
Sinatra was a fake tough guy. He hung around with tough guys. His first singing group used to beat sinatra up!
My friend and his family were invited to a play on Broadway by Mr.Scott and he gave them the Royal treatment. My friend is a mexican hotel worker and Mr.Scott told the staff "this man is my family."❤
Women beater
Nolan says for him it’s not about the composition but what’s in the shot that matters more. He heavily took this approach on oppenheimers cinematography.
@thisisastory BRAVO! I am just 20 minutes in but you are hitting all the highlights of all the hours and hours there are of Orson, this is a masterfully edited/composed piece which shares so many incredible stories I picked up in my inquiries into Mr Welles. Excellent job, thank you very much for doing what I had once wished I could do, assemble all the right pieces of Orson so that others could fall in love with this genius whom popular culture has forgotten. Orson influenced so many who also became masters themselves, thank you for doing justice to the man. Really well done. ❤
Thank you very much ☺️
@@thisisastory on another note, since you KNOW Orson and you’re familiar with his archival interviews, im looking for one when he was asked by I believe Dick Cavett why he wears black, and he said “it’s for the Forgotten.” Can you recall this quote and if so direct me to where I can find it once more. It made an impression on me and i want to find it again.
@@RyanPerrella I don't think I've come across that quote in any of his Cavett videos on TH-cam, but if I find it, I will let you know!
Excellent
*spoilers maybe?* v I literally cannot take Bella's death seriously because of that scene broo
Hello, I’d like to hire you as a video editor. This was fantastic. Let me know if you’re available for hire.
Fabulous profile of a brilliant, one-off, actor.
Forget about the rest of Jack Nicholson's performance in the rest of the movie, which was excellent. He worked for 5 days and collected 5 Million dollars, but he won the Academy Award right here!
Poor Dan❤😢
What a man...
Es tan iconic
GUYS. Go watch jungle starring Daniel Radcliffe It's incredible
Harry potter sucks, so does Radcliffe. Our generation is doomed
I’m pretty sure it’s just you
How about you go crying to Warner bros about a movie they made 13 years ago
Who would not know him, he was a part of the best movies list in history
Debatable Popular yea
Harry potter sucks@@centeringcube
@@nathanielhreid1786it doesn't suck but it isn't great its just a movie to pass a time imo not smth to get overhyped about
Ah, poor guy, he's the only one with problems. Poor people should send him their last bit of money to make him feel better.
No?? He's rich he doesn't need poor people's last money ik that it's hard on him but he's alright.
No amount of money can buy you back a childhood. Having money can solve a lot of problems, but there are a score more it can do nothing about.
@@adammmmm_22lmao he was being sarcastic
Nobody said he was the only one and nobody said he needs money to feel better. He is simply sharing his experience with fame. He was the main character, after all. He was famous since he was a kid. Millions of people knew his name. Fans do stalk celebrities sometimes and he was extremely uncomfortable but he never EVER said he was the only one.
@joyluxroadto5004 ah poor guy, we should all pitch in so he can have a therapist and maybe a little leftover for a bodyguard. He deserves it, over some nobody kid who is being abused.
How can it be, that still, one of the most gifted artists in movie history is, alltogether, so underrated to this day. Yes, everybody knows Citizen Kane, but who really knows Orson Wells? A man, to which maybe just Kubrick can be compared. But no-one else!
reading into this too much?
What? Movies like these put a lot of effort into their cinematography, and these types of techniques are commonplace
I didn’t realise he was underage
“People had no problem sexualising Emma Watson” - Daniel Radcliffe when an interviewer asked him about how uncomfortable people may be after watching him grow up then being seen naked.
The pause when he ran into the door was hilarious, you'd never expect that with TTS
Naw literally that shit made me die laughing
TTS 😅🥲
