How long for recovery? I had mine done four days ago and there is a white bump and sore but it looks like still purple around it, I am not sure if after ten days it will fall off. Thanks

I have just had this "discussion" with my local GP here in Australia when I asked for antibiotics before some dental work End result, he gave a big fat denial. So, I asked the owner of the medical clinic (because that answer was not what I wanted to hear) I did that by ringing the surgery where the receptionist (the wall between the patient and the doctor) told me that I needed a face to face appointment. Note, I live in a remote rural area. I am an aged pensioner. I don't have a vehicle and I rely on an "aged peoples' service" for transport. I told the receptionist this and never heard back. About two weeks later, my beautiful wife of 40 years needed to visit the local hospital for "women's issues" So, I tagged along and went to the receptionist as the surgery was connected to but not part of the hospital. I asked for (ordered) a copy of the correspondence from my hip surgeon of 11 weeks prior to the doctor's surgery. Then, about 2 weeks after that, my wife and I had an appointment for out annual flu jab. I mentioned all of these events at that appointment, since the very next day, I had a dental clinic appointment for a broken tooth. No was the stern reply. I then said that with respect, I would rather take the comments of my surgon over the GP. (hmmmm wrong comment, I stepped on his "pride nerve").The surgeon and I had spoken about antibiotics at my 6 week post op appointment and in his correspondence to the GP he mentioned that he had no objections re me taking a course of antibiotics. I also mentioned that over 75% of US orthos still considered it a good idea to have anti biotics before dental work and that in a major study that was done, it was found that some patients with infections in their hip, had bacteria that were found in the mouth To me, even just for peace of mind, that comment or finding alone should be the be all and end all to the argument. Let's face it, your "opinion" seemed to suggest that there would be massive numbers of people just taking antibiotics willy nilly. Respectfully ..... bull shit. This would apply to a select cohort and, as you correctly stated, this said cohort have the problem of not having the same ability of fighting disease in a replaced hip. The consequences of an infection would likely lead to further surgery to pull apart the hip, scrub out the area, the use of even "more severe" antibiotics and then one or even more surgeries to fix the problem hip. So, I'm glad that you have the opinion of "looking after the patient" and I thank you on behalf of every hip replacement person who hopes for antibiotics to lower the chances of getting a hip infection. The end of my story goes that just a couple of weeks ago, actually, the day before I went the get my flu jab, I received a call from another surgeon (yeah, getting old sucks) telling me that I was the proud parent of a cluster of cancer cells in the "down south region". I was going to tell my GP that next day. But as our conversation became a little more "intense" I told him that I really didn't have a lot of confidence in his ability. .... oops there's that pride nerve again. So, he told me that I'm now not his patient. Personally, this isn't a big problem to me(even though now 'll have to travel over 2 hours to have a GP appointment) as I would rather find a different doctor so that I will have an "A" team looking after me in the coming months (hopefully years) and not some "B" team as I perceive I would have had by staying with a GP in which I have no confidence. The wild thing is, that was the first "debate/discussion/disagreement etc" that I have had with ANYONE in many many many years. I'm much more into peace, love, roses and all things hippie, than anger, agression and other shit. Would I sue that bloke over a whole bunch of stuff? nah, that's not the Aussie way. That's more of a yank type trait. Would I tell him my feelings again like I did? Blood oath. Again, that's the Aussie way. "Call a spade a spade". My opinion on antibiotics? Give em to people who have had a surgery that will cause that area to be more vulnerable. And if a person falls into that group. Take the whole bloody course that you're given and don't be a fool and leave some bugs inside you that have only been knocked around by the antibiotic and then the divide and form a stronger strain. Make the list say .... any surgery for 2 years after replacement surgery. Then assess the situation. Also keep people on that list if they have some other problem that might compromise their ability to fight disease maybe .... cancer patients auto immune diseases really old people etc Thanks for reading this rant

My dermatologist said it can take 4 to 6 treatments using the PDL Lazer. Thoughts on this? I have limited income and can't afford that many treatments. You did it in one and very quickly.

Another motivation for practicing good hygiene during ortho treatment is that the orthodontist may suggest or frankly insist on a hygiene break in treatment until the patient brings their hygiene up to minimum standards or even discontinue treatment if the patient can't improve their home care.

After the lip heals, will there be pits, whiteness, burn marks? Does this method damage the nerves in the lip or the surrounding veins? I had a very small vein crack on my lip. It is on my upper lip, located in the midline and is 1 mm in diameter, not very swollen. Is it effective on very small scars like this? I have this scar on my lip for two years. Is it harmful to wear lipstick now?

Salt helps with x-rays too! I'm not sure why but it does. I'm an FMX pro 😉

Actually, I've never had the frame of mind that dentist's have ever been discounted or "had an easy job". Great video, this doctor is explaining the fact's of the profession very well. What I take away from this vid, other than the obvious, is both titles are the same.
