Sorry if that was the experience and completely agree, its a Hindu temple and such questions should not be asked. But it could also be a curiosity thing you know, because everyone serving in the temple is part of temple community and they might ask out of curiosity on seeing a new face. When I had visited, I met many non-Gujarathi's there who came for darshan.

Agree … we were really stretching ourselves driving to Scotland in a single day, that too when days are short. Driving in mountains through single track roads in pitch dark night, with moody rains on, is pretty scary tbh. Next time I would prefer to split my journey and continue the next day if I visit in winters again.
