how bad is the grind for a fully engineered ship, i keep going back and forth about wanting this game but hear the grind is bad
Its not that bad. Personally its a lot easier than it use to be and if you want to quickly grind a set of engineers the one in Colonia are really easy to unlock but that does require finding a way out there but there are carriers that head that way a lot. But the ones in the bubble aren't to bad either. Best to find someone new to do it with :)
@therfspark3 interesting, maybe I'll finally get this game, iv seen it be alot of fun in VR
@wil1234111 I know people enjoy vr with the game but not sure how supported it us with the release of Odyssey but I think you can still use it in your ship.

For fun 3 med cannon with oversize overcharge, 1 small multi ext ammo and corrosive, and 1 small cooling beam long range. Very satisfying. Cheers dude! 😎
@rybuds47 not sure how well it'll get through shields but could be fun once they do go down!

@@mafyu9630 Fixed PAs are the best fixed weapon in the game next to rails. Fixed MCs can be decent too. Gimbals can be good but can be easily countered.
I don't know if you're looking for advice, but I have a couple of questions and suggestions. Feel free to ignore if you don't care. x3 Why 2 feedback rails? The meta setup would be 1 feedback and 1 superpen. You don't need 2 feedback rails, since the effect doesn't stack. Why bi-weave is fast charge? You'd be better off with lo-draw (both quicker recharge AND recovery times, check yourself). FSD engineering doesn't really matter in a combat build, but why not go with SCO? Unless it's a pre-SCO build, which would be a great segue to the next question: why long range interdictor? SCO drives make this engineering for interdictor pretty much useless in my opinion, I always go with extended capture arc. Other than that, build looks great.
@sleepymincy feedback rails do stack. I will need to check up low draw but I personally have had more luck with fast charge with other builds and yes it is pretty sco but it's also what I had at the time.
Also just relook on edsy and fast charge is faster for both.
@@therfspark3 feedback experimental does not stack. You just need to hit the target multiple times with the same rail to get it to original level of bank reduction. My source: 2.2.03 patch notes. You'd get more utility from having superpen in my opinion, but sure, if you say so. And I'm not sure what do you mean by "fast draw". Last time I checked, lo-draw is faster. It's dependent on the distro: if distro is smaller than or the same size as the shield, then lo-draw is better. If bigger, then fast charge.
@sleepymincy good pip management will have your distributor working fine and feedback does stack I have ran multiple tests and seen that it does.
@sleepymincy Feedback Cascade no longer provides a fixed 90% reduction to healing, instead each hit reduces the healing rate by an amount proportional to damage capped at -90% as before. Exact number of hits to reach the cap varies based on size of weapon and shield cell, but will typically be 2-3 (requiring either high skill or multiple railguns) and up to 5 for smaller weapons against size 8 cell banks. So each time you hit a scb with a feed rail it will keep reducing the health as it's spinning up. So more rails and more dmg those rails do the more scb it'll take away up to 90%. Scbs all have different health pools so bigger scbs require more feedback needing to be done.
I've used it once and then I saw that DBS has 4 utility slots
@@TogglePr0 DBS actually could be a fun small to work on next!
I buy ships for real money only for support them.P played about 10 years. on and off ofc. i would never pay for any in game things, ED/frontier however does this correct, its not pay to win! my ships will crush your preebulit ship, however yes u get grind boost, wtihout that new players are not comming. we need this game survival. the only 1.1 scale sim. there is no other REAL alternative.
@techquad1151 Good point! Yeah I do like this model!
You put a lot of care into that ship. Cool build.
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Its a nerfed ship just like a type 7 or keelback, specially when comparing them to the new ships. Use mine for core mining, after a youtuber build but the off-centered target is never pleasant...anyway those were my 2c, o7 cmdr
Yeah I can see the ship being decent at mining, just a shame since its so fast and agile.
So the target lock will only work with PVP not NPC's. Thermal conduit you will never get the 150% heat required for it to be a useful mod. Better to just put four Efficient G5 PA's on and oversize them. Hardly anyone is using shield banks and the small rails are not much good at cancelling big ship banks. better to just put two multi-cannons on and make one of them corrosive. If you use the right power priorities you don't need to monster it, Oc5 /thermal spread is fine. I'm running a size 5 prismo with 4 boosters.
@andysherris7949 most of the time you'll be fighting medium ships in this. Also the TC can be replaced but the banks do help get hot if you do decide to use it. The build can be flexible so use what you think is necessary. :)
Looks good.
Very open minded and clear thoughts. You hit it on the head. Monetary needs are necessary to keep the game alive. Any game.
@Sal_Vito I agree and I think reasonable priced ships are a good way to go! I do hope for more in the future!
No shade, just curious what's the logic behind smaller shield generator in exchange for larger cell banks? Is that the typical meta for combat builds?
@ericjones7983 Some ships benefit from smaller shields and bigger banks because it gives more MJs over time. While it's the reverse for others. Kraits and FDLs have different shield and shield cell bank usage for example.
Great guide! The Mandalay is an absolute beast when kitted out for combat, and your build really makes it shine. Loved how you balanced firepower and defense-those hardpoint placements are chef’s kiss! Definitely taking some notes for my next bounty hunting spree. o7, Commander!
@DeepSpaceMystery I'm glad you enjoyed it o7! The ship is a marvel!
Way too heavy man, you dont need 3 scarabs >.<
@DvdV1337 You could probably get by with 1 or 2 but I like a third in case I have a friend come a long or I explode one. It's still hella good jump range.
Very interesting. As you mentioned the mobility of a Chieftain, can you compare these (and maybe also Phyton mk2 as well) a bite more, please. I'm owning a Chieftain, but miss some imporant engineerings, such as the drag drives, so it feels a bit drifty, especially with flight assist off. Is it the ship, or just the missing engineering? So how do these 3 compare with mobility, speed, combat build (shield/hull/power draw) ... :)
@GDLRenoBlade I can go more in depth about all of them in a bit but for your question about driftiness that could just be your settings for your mouse or hotas. I recommend doing some research on that but also practicing with g5 thrusters is very important as well.
Okay lets go over the Python MK II, Chieftain, and Mandlay. The Python MK II is the least agile out of these ships but probably packs the biggest punch, Its flies more like an FDL and Mamba. Its agile but defiantly relies more on straight forward accelerations. The ship will stall without the boost going and can be caught out because of that and you will not be able to keep on target or get out of the way. Chieftain is a very sensitive ship on the stick. It glides across the screen and has great lats while also having pretty good acceleration but rarely stalls. The Chally is kinda the same but just less top end. The booth require very good pip management. Mandlay is like the Chieftain but cranked up to twenty, not is it as agile but it spins around and stays on target and can get back on target no matter where it is even behind you. The ship does a five slot distro but acts like a six slot because it doesn't pull that much from it with the weapons, and engines. Its really a weird enigma. All have pros and cons but I would they say all serve a purpose! I hope that answered your question, if you have anymore feel free to ask!
Dont know what people are complaining about the fkn p-mkIIs are killing it in PVP , those damn 4 paci or 4 adv PA builds do plenty dmg..... and its fast. I myself run a pvp one with 4x adv PAs on efficient with all the interference experis on and 2x yuri bombs lol
@KampaiDiscount69 I'm not saying it's terrible at pvp. It's very good at it. It's just not good at multi purpose like a lot of Falcon Delacy ships.
Just so you know posting a video of a combat built ship and not actually showing it in combat is bogus.
@deathknight1238 I'm not gonna post a video of a build guide without testing it and I have the knowledge to know it works.

I bought this ship for one purpose, to support elite and show the devs the community is still active. But I will say this thing stock is incredibly underwhelming, on my steam port I don’t have all my engineers unlocked just have the corvette and cutter grind done. On my Xbox my ships are almost fully upgraded and well I expected a lot for this ship and was honestly disappointed. Stock without the engineering this is a middling ship, ima start the engineer grind (again 🌚) and see if it sings but so far this seems pretty mid. Shame really but I guess those dudes talking about oh elite is pay to win, lol no it’s not bud. You really need to be a real pilot to do anything with this stock even against the bots and online I dare not take it because I know they will send me to meet my maker in .02 seconds. Imo I’d wait for this to come out but if your like me and want to support elite pick it up, just don’t expect to be a threat online, you will be disappointed
I agree 100% my dude! You nailed it!
I've got a fully upgraded and totally engineered now known as the Python MKI and the new Python MKII standard version. Taking into consideration the difference's in the core sized modual's, and the less optional slot's available. Omitting the one additional hard point and two additional utilities. I loaded out both exactly the same. I even installed the new grade "A" FSD with SCO. Went to the same low res zone and did some combat. The now referred to as MKI python did so much better than the MKII, there little to no usefullness to purchase the ship. The one and only reason would be the fact that the new MKII doesn't have issue's when utilizing the SCO as does the standard old referred to as MKI one does with the SCO. OK, the new MKII is a wee bit more agile, but then wanting agile and only giving up one optional slot, one can simply utilze the Krait MKII. But don't install the SCO. The additional heat will if nothing less than costing money to repairs afterwards, will get you killed.
I couldn't agree more! The Python MK I looks so much better on paper and in game for stuff. I'm finding it hard to use the ship too with a 6 slot powerplant.
The Pmk2 is soooo much better in combat than the Pmk1. It turns so much better, has super strong shields compared to the mk1 and the speed is also great. My Pmk2 in action... th-cam.com/video/L7lKm6qV0M4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=o6K60xSnyqpzVFiY
The Python MK I can have so much more mjs in scbs than the Python MK II. The Python 1 can store more mjs while the Python 2 just has more upfront. Over a long battle I don't see the Python II doing as well but the added agility does help but even that can be limiting.
@@therfspark3 Its the speed at which the Pmk2 can aquire then kill its targets that makes it a better combat version of the Pmk1. SCB's are ok, but a quick reboot gives back 50% of shields if using Prismo's anways.
That is if you don't get shot at with the weak hull the Python 2 has compares to the lots of hull you can get with the Python 1. I'm not saying the Python II is bad. I'm just saying the name plate Python doesn't belong too it. If you want comparable speed, with everything the Kraits power creep the hell out of the Python II.
It’s quite a weak ship all hype
I agree, would be good firepower if it had a 7 slot distro

"We noticed you people didn't like our game because it was long, boring and grindy to get ships to a point where they're actually enjoyable to use, so we thought we'd solve the problem by giving you an opportunity to give us more money." Yeah, and Star Citizen is the pay-to-win scam, riiiiiiight. The fuckers at Frontier solved a game design issues through monetisation, what the fucking fuck ?
Many games use the same monetization throughout their game to fund it. It's necessarily a bad thing, especially if you can still earn the same things in game.
saying u dont like this money thiing on ED? i think colors and paint jobs are silly expensive, however that aside, I want ED to survive and i did get 10 years for 65$? thats the most value on everything i have ever payed for in real life? food is more importen, however 10 year 65$!, The best buy i did ever, and now some think that they should not earn money on this. ED was a sim, and it bacame somethign much better, and in base the game was exploring, i dont understand how anyone can complain. at least not if u knew the all 10 years history with ED. u see this could been a DLC? cuz we did get a hell of a lot content and updates and are getting base settlenents and more in early 2025, so i use what 20 dollar on a ship? its like nothing, just stay away from the paint jobs trasactions, however they can not work for free, the dlc was free, the update its called a update, its a big one, for FREE, so, yh u can buy what u can or just dont game like MM2,3 and black ops 6 are scummy, talk about earning money and srewing people its not frontier! SC YES INDEED:
@@techquad1151 I don't care if Frontier monetizes their game, I care they're more interested in selling gameplay shortcuts than actually fixing the gameplay to be enjoyable instead of a mind-numbing grindfest.
@ yh , me 2 😄💯 i Think its in a good state now. Even after 10 years im happy right now today. Ofc I want things too, however they did so much and so much is still coming and it’s all gameplay..
Frankly, setting aside the app store microtransaction angle for a moment at least, the base concept of versions of the ships that have whatever components and modules pre-installed in them in various different "variants" or "models" for in-game currency? That should have been in the game at launch. Not only does it make sense, it also makes grinding engineering vastly less goddamn awful to not _necessarily_ start out paying for a new ship just to get the absolute worst everything it can possibly have. Hell, I'd say it should go further and have vendors that allow you a (relatively limited) variety of options as to the layout when you're buying them. Like... you know, a car? A yacht? Even fucking BIKES are often sold similarly, never mind luxury civilian spacecraft. Understandable if most vendors wouldn't be able to offer the best or particularly exotic or exclusive modules, but it's just utterly baffling that they didn't do it that way all along. Them selling these things _half a year early for real money_ though is entirely scummy and I hope it doesn't go much further but that's pissing into the wind.
Time will tell. Though I'm curious to see how it progress. I still want the game to make money so it can stay afloat.

Properly engineered, the Dolphin can fuel scoop at maximum intake while charging the FSD and still not get anywhere close to overheating. Accounting for the number of internal slots (honestly more than it physically should have for it’s size) this ship can do as much as ships nearly twice the size. The minute footprint of the Dolphin let’s it land in places that many other ships have trouble. The only downside of the Dolphin is only having 2 small hardpoints, making it mediocre at best for combat situations. That said, the, speed and maneuverability allow it to escape from danger quite quickly.
