    I totally agree with Nichola for what he says for champions frontline care staff. With due respect some of this our big bosses do not know what feels to be in the frontline care delivery and work-life balance Thanks

    Sorry I do not agree that without the digital care records that the information would not be handed over to the emergency services with, a care plan printed along with the up to date MAR chart the information is exactly the same as a digital care plan or any other records, maybe if CQC stop giving us more paperwork to do, then our time would be spent, giving person centred care. Maybe also look at paying carers more, then there may not be a shortage!!!

    Terrible bit of legislation. If your level of productivity can only make £10 for every hour that you work, but you must be paid £11, it is counter-productive for an employer to hire you, and you can't legally enter the job market.

    It appears to me that your assessment process is a tick box exercise not really an in-depth analysis.

    • @TheCaringView
      @TheCaringView 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, it's the CQC assessment that is the tick box exercise. Very little room for analysing too much data, this is why Adam is advocating better use of data and centralised data streams.

  • @billhannigan8667
    @billhannigan8667 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You need to identify. What are key data and key processes and then ask why you are collecting the data. The problem with social care is there are too many organization who will want different functionality. Key link between system s national insurance number!

  • @billhannigan8667
    @billhannigan8667 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you asked your carers what is most important to them as they decide to come in to the sector and more importantly why those who are leaving why they are leaving?

    So true Dawn about there always being a feeling of someone waiting in the wings to leave once a new staff member comes on, and who can blame them really - they’ve worked so hard! One step forward, two steps back all the time at the moment and so many lovely people out there needing care that we just don’t have enough capacity to take on nationally

    My opinion is that the requirements that care homes stipulate for ECG are onerous. It is against the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to insist on blanket inoculations, particularly one that hasn't been studied long term and requires booster shots. My experience is management interpretation of guidelines is being used to restrict rather than accommodate.

    Just catching up on this, and Dawn I completely agree with your point about recognition for social care. We provide virtual work experience for social care (1 full day) for that very reason, through a UK wide charity - Speakers for Schools - and are the only employer providing this opportunity in Wales, yet it's clear it's sparse across the country as you say because we have an uptake of over 50 students (initial limit was 25) for our upcoming virtual placement on 29th July.

    as a semi-retired (self-titled) "companion/carer" who has been prevented from working part-time hours in a care home due to the restrictions I've joined your community to keep up-dated on how others are feeling about the issues surrounding where we are on all of this - I feel very strongly that we need to take a balanced view of all aspects surrounding safety and well-being on the behalf of those who cannot speak up for themselves - I really miss my resident friends greatly, some of whom have sadly passed away in recent months - in desolation having lost their family visits alongside friends and my own regular in-put thank you so much for this wonderful platform !

    Great work I agree entirely dad is in a care home and we have been told if he comes home he will have to isolate for 14 days which makes no sense they have all been vaccinated in the home. The staff go home and back each day. He is depressed not seeing his family. We have an uncompassionate out of touch government that doesn’t have a clue about real life they are so far detached it’s unreal.

    Another great episode guys! Donna your point about nurturing the future workforce is such a positive thing and something that we've been working on with the charity 'Speakers for Schools' to deliver virtual work experience to year 10 and 11 students, with great success. It's definitely something I'd encourage other providers to do, and so inspiring to see the engagement from the students and hearing the feedback afterwards. I'll admit it was a challenge to translate social care into a virtual experience but we did manage to create a day's worth of interactive activity and discussion.

    I can so relate to all this. The residential home I work in was hit badly in the 1st wave and in my 42 years working in Social care I have never known such dreadfully difficult and sad times. I am so proud of the staff team who continued to come to work on a daily basis not really knowing what they were dealing with and with the knowledge that they may well catch Covid themselves. Ultimately, most of the staff and residents had Covid by mid May when finally we were all tested. Staff did antibody tests in October and most of us were positive. I hope I never have to experience this again in my working life.

    Thanks for this, it has been really useful for me. I have been an OT for 12 years now and last year became a Registered Manager. OT & RM have always known about each other and work together in certain capacity, but they are completely different worlds, so shows like this give me the insight to see what the, thinking, attitudes and values are in social care that are not "OT" specific! Can't wait for the next show!
