Rebuilding The Slant 6 (Part 2) - Tearing Down The Engine
มุมมอง 15K4 ปีที่แล้ว
At the end of my last video I have the Slant on an engine stand, ready to tear into, so that's what you'll see in this video. By the end of the video I have everything loaded into my car, and ready to go to the machine shop.
Rebuilding The Slant 6 (Part 1) - Pulling The Engine
มุมมอง 12K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Finally getting started on a project that should have been done a long time ago. Time to rebuild the engine in the "Wild Child" and see if I can stop adding oil every half tank of gas. Today I start by driving the car into the shop, and end with the engine mounted on a stand ready to tear down. I hope you enjoy!

Enjoy this video of my buddy Mike's 1964 Ford Falcon. We stopped at a national park in Virginia on our way back from Nashville for the shoot. Absolutely love the work he did to this car (those rims though)! Engine: Inline Six (170 cu. in.)
Nashville Or Bust (66 Dart / 64 Falcon)
มุมมอง 3195 ปีที่แล้ว
Just out for a Sunday morning cruise thru Virginia on our road trip in the summer of 2018. It was the first year we had our cars on the road, and made it all the way from Lacaster, PA to Nashville, TN and back to Lancaster again. The whole trip took us about 5 days. The black coupe is my 1966 Dodge Dart GT (225 Slant Six). The light blue sedan is my buddy's 1964 Ford Falcon (170 Inline Six). I ...

Thanks, I appreciate it! My dad had a 71 back in the day. Love that that body style! The slant might not have a ton of power, but I've really enjoyed working at mine, and it's super reliable. I always run into guys at shows that had one, and they'll tell stories, about how many miles they ran without oil, etc... 😄

The 225 came with 145hp And that was in a 3100lb car. Thats all you need. I have overheated two by accident. And unlike a Subaru motor they don’t give a sh!t. That older cast iron Stuff wasn’t Designed to be thrown out.

The book I used for this project might be a good place to start. Chrysler Slant Six Engines: How To Rebuild and Modify. Author: Doug Dutra Available online from Amazon, etc... I give it a 5 star rating. You can literally know nothing about rebuilding engines and this book will get you there. Also provides cool tips that most pros would find useful, specifically for the slant.
