Star Wars Rebellion Leader Combat Rules An Exciting New Combat Engine
Leader Combat System is a new combat engine for Star Wars Rebellion and Star Wars Rebellion Rise of Empire expansion.
It replaces the clunky combat system with a more strategic and leader based system that is clean, simple, and fast. Spend more time playing, less time reading the rule book and choosing tactics cards. Try our new system for yourself and comment below.

Axis & Allies Hit Dice DIY
มุมมอง 1K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Here is how you can make your own hit dice. Very simple, very cheap. Use 16mmx16mm standard dice. White = 1 Red = 2 or less Blue = 3 or less Green = 4 or less
Thx!
welcomed
since white dice hit on 1, blue on 1,2, green on 1,2,3 and red on 1,2,3,4. Why mark the pips? Just wondering.
So that when you see a marked pip, you know that it's a hit. So in this case if you have 3 infantry and 4 armor, you can roll 3 white dice for Infantry and 4 green dice for Armor. You can do your combat in 1 roll.
Just came across this in 2023. These boards are great! The Bonus Table and Victory City Counter is top notch. Printing it on card stock tomorrow. Future re-makes and new editions of Axis and Allies should include it!
Thank you so very much. I am happy to help the community. Please share it with your friends so they can enjoy it as well.
@@boardgamesultans Quick question. For the Bonus Table and Victory City Counter, would you also print that on an 11x17. Or can it be printed on a smaller sheet size and still look good. Thanks in advance!
@@tlaird79 these are sized so that the city tokens and nation markers can fit exactly on the spaces. If you resize it, then it won't fit anymore. I think it is best to do the 11x17 size.
@@boardgamesultans was going to share my finished product. Using Styrene at .06” thickness worked perfect. Your PDF on front and black on back. Feels like the other cutouts from Anniversary edition. I’d love to share pics with you on it. You ok if I link your video to the community?
@@tlaird79 Of course. It would be a great honor to be featured. Please feel free to share this video and files with your community.
Very nice acrylic pieces. Very nice indeed, sir!
I Like your house rule . And have one of my own witch works interesting to me , maby I can combine with yours : 1) Players are using tactical cinematic cards ( from expansion ) but players play only one tactical card per combat ( Not every round ) . And ... You can use only upper part ( Special ) of description if you have that unit in the combat. Below action do nothing . 2 ) No healing 3) Red and black hits are assigned by defenders choice , and Direct hits are assigned by attacker as normal . 4) Lightsaber can be played as this tutorial shows , but after that action that leader is fatigued ( you put it down on side to indicate that leader have used his power). In addition player can use any lightsaber color to refresh his leader and bring him up again with exception that leader can only use his ability once per round . Last thing you can do with lightsaber is to bring your opponent leader to fatigue position. Is this make any sense ? adding just a little spice with short and easy using tactical cards in more simple way... and making lightsaber feel like leaders are fighting each other not just fighting each other units ( Make your opponent leader busy with your sword ) , what do you think ?
Helo, I think it is great to expore and see what works best with you and your game group. I am glad this has given you some ideas as well. Hope you will play more Star Wars Rebellion. May the force be with you. Thanks.
These look so good
Thanks. You can try to print them with the files provided. Really hope they help.
Great idea
Great resource! I printed some off today. I did notice some grammar inconsistencies and unclear rules. Would I be able to contact you to make you aware of them?
Hello Jordan. Yes of course I would be very open to your input. if you can make your revisions to a file that I can access in google drive or something, then put your link here. Thanks.
@@MightyfireflyAndme Okay! I did a quick run through. You may want to do a search and replace to capitalize all unit types or not. drive.google.com/file/d/1cl1dWrB8vY7Ti9QYfQQEgsB7u9pEfEpy/view?usp=sharing
@@nicholsonfile : Thanks. I have edited the file. Please check it out. Appreciate your input and participation.
@@MightyfireflyAndme Oh wow. Thank you! I'll be playing with some new folks Saturday, and we've printed off the 1.6 edition Quick Start Guide. I think it'll be more than sufficient for helping remind people of the rules!
@@nicholsonfile Hope you guys have a great time. THank you for your help in proofreading.
Wow!! The VC Chart is amazing! Thank you so much!!
Thanks. Share the love. Play On.
Can you give a ballpark of what a printing place charged to make those?
Hello, thanks for your comment. I am currently not in the States and I am lucky to have a local "Kinkos" that can do it all. Basically look for establishments that can make things like name badges, personalized acrylic keychains, etc. Took them about a week to do the job. But it was worth the wait. It's not cheap either, I did a whole set for A&A Anniversary edition cost me around $30-40.
@@MightyfireflyAndme Andy, First and foremost what a GREAT job you did on these pieces. I really like them…. and thank you VERY much for sharing the artwork file with us. I have tried to find a place here in the Los Angeles area to print them… and I just can’t find anyone that will do it. I’d like to get 2 or 3 complete sets made (one for me…a back up, and one for my son). Anyway you can have them printed where you are, and ship them to me? I can/will pay for the pieces and the shipping. Appreciate any help. Thank you! -Michael
thanks that is way better.
Thanks a lot.
Its called an "end mill bit" might come in rotary tool kits but i would suggest getting them from a tool and die supplier
always wondered what that bit was called. Now I know. Thanks for sharing.
You should drill holes at the bottom of your carriers and put magnets under them. That way the base is going to stick to the carrier without some of that dough
Yes, that is another way to do it.
Great video! I've watched many videos in preparation to do my own customizations, and your idea of using Blue Tack instead of clamps was unique and something I plan to try myself. Thank you for the idea!
Andy, could you share who printed these for you? It sounded like you took it to some print company or other shop that made all of these for you. I would love to get these! They are really nice! Are you by chance selling them?
This was a local print store. I am outside of the US. If you cannot find a local acrylic maker that can do it, I can probably help to print these for you, but I am not sure about the shipping costs.
@@MightyfireflyAndme Andy, can you help me get these printed? I will pay for the printing...and I can take care of the shipping too with my company’s UPS or FedEx acct.
Is there any way for you me to contact you directly? I don't really want to give out personal information on these comment boards.
National Objectives Diagram chart is a great idea .. id probably blow it up Huge .. put it on a magnetic thin sheet an it can get put on a battle wall
That sounds like an awesome Idea.
I really like your Damaged Ship markers .. thinner design .. and your longer platform plan will look good Your Factory damaged markers 1-5-10 .. your design i like Task Force Markers are beautiful Are you willing to make any for purchase ?
Haven't though about selling these. I guess if there are people who are interested. I will check to see how much it will cost to print these up and ship it. Thanks.
The combat is a great part of this game. Either one. Not sure why you don’t see the strategy. Git gud. Though I agree rise of the empire makes leaders a tad less useful. Though it punishes you for retreating early so that’s good.
Where can I buy the stands? Or better yet, how do I make the stands?
these are home made. you will need to go to your local hobby store to get the components or try to find it online.
Thank you for sharing this :)
My pleasure.
Just amazing, this is really a upgrade for this fantastic game
Thanks.
I use your great victory city and objetive table. Tanks.
Thank you very much. Keep playing Axis & Allies!
excellent work Andy, I really like your ideas
Thanks Douglas. Appreciate the compliment.
So heavy advantage to defender in being able to block damage, attacker cannot block/repair damage? I am assuming that surviving units with damage are still repaired automatically after combat is over? The defender already had advantage as it was in expansion by being able to repair damage after attacker rolls(thus the attacker needs to get more hits& the attacker already looses his lightsaber rolls on first round because there is no damage yet), unless of course one uses the proper tactic card(s). But if combat went another round then attacker could repair damage. Big disadvantage to attacker your way. I like the thought and the intention to quicken combat, but this will be at the cost of making it potentially a good deal bloodier for the attacker. Part of the cool thing about either the base or the expansion combat was you got some results where the smaller force was able to survive thanks to tactic cards(attacker or defender). Not sure this will happen in your system unless leaders are onlh one side. I do prefer the expansion over the original, but I am not as fond of re-rolls of the dice. I think perhaps a good use of the tactics cards would be to assign the use of a card(s) if there is a difference in the opposing leaders stats for that combat(space or ground). Example: The Empire has a leader with a 3 ground value. The rebels have a leader with a 2 value, thus the Empire gets one card. This brings some forethought and strategy into play for leaders as often times leaders are stronger in one aspect of combat over the other. Perhaps I have the advantage and get a card in space, but the opponent gets one on the ground in the same system. The strategy of the tactics cards in the expansion was timing and playing the cards at the right time, it is not some random, unthoughtful way of just playing a card. Pair your card(s) with their related units and get more of a pop for that card, or time it with another card that takes an advantage away from the opponent. Also, in the expansion, the tactics cards are somewhat limited in that you have to use them all before using one over again, this gives a player a tough choice at times as to whether to use a card now, or save it for later in favor of a different one. Also, I think this will put too much focus on leaders being needed in combat. The Rebels especially should be doing more missions and only combat when absolutely necessary. Now I would have to limit my leader's missions just to potentially offset the other sides advantage of bringing leaders into combat? In oob or expansion, it was one thing to not have a leader available in combat, but this almost mandates trying to keep leaders available for combat. Maybe I just have to try it out and see, but I do not think this will pan out in the long run. Also, the decision to not allow other leaders to participate in a combat if they were on previous mission seems to penalize the choice of where to conduct missions. A key strategy is to conduct a combat with one leader in a system where you already have a leader, thus an advantage. I see the command phase as being reactive rather than simultaneuos. The leader went on a mission and has already completed it, why not then be able to help in combat? They are leaders, that is one of their advantages. And lastly, the capture leader and detain leader cards and abilities become way more powerfull for the Empire. This will unbalance the game in my opinion. Just some thoughts on the subject. I did enjoy the vid very much and appreciate the perspective. I love to watch other people's ideas and thoughts, even if I do not necessarily agree. Good work, keep it up!
I finally finished cleaning up the markers and put together the file that you can download. The link is in the description. Some of the markers are different from the video because I wanted to change it. I will get these printed soon and make another video with them. Then you can let me know if you prefer the old or new design. Thanks to my friends for your Subs, encouragement, and your support.
You did an awesome job on your markers, Andy. Those task force markers blow me away.

Muy bueno! :)
Hey Andy, One thing I noticed that might need clarification on your quick start quide. General Combat 4. Fighters on an ally's carrier are considered cargo and do not participate in battle. This is only in attacking situations. If I am not mistaken fighters on a ally's carrier will still defend. Carrier based aircraft are always considered to be defending in the air. Under unit description: fighters I really like your player aids and charts. Keep up the good work!
As far as I know, if you are on an ally's carrier, you do not attack or defend. I may be wrong. Any experts out there that can clarify? Thanks.
I did a little looking and found this thread on bgg: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1504587/multi-national-defense
Yes you are correct. The fighters are cargo for attack, but will defend. Fixed it in the current version 1.6.
Great Vid! Love the quickstart guide and the Victory City Counter! All the aids are top-notch. Well done!
Thanks you very much for the feedback.
Anyone know if similar files exist for 1940 Global 2nd Edition?
I have not made a guide for the 1940 Global 2nd Edition. Not sure if anyone has them.
I have not done a global 2nd edition version.... but I may do so at a later date if I get a lot of user requests. Not sure if anyone else had made something similar.
Nice video! Where is the file you mentioned that you were going to post? And do you have a link to the place where you got the acrylics done? Thanks!
Thanks. You know... I have been meaning to get this done, but I have been so busy, I have not had the chance to clean up the files and get it presentable enough for an upload to share with you guys. I will get this done. Sorry to keep you waiting.
I just got the file done. Please check the link in the description. Thanks.
in rise exp, its not a block its a repair after dmg is applied
Great concept, I will try it for sure and let you know. I'd rather spend time and strategy on the development of the game rather than the combats. Combats need to go at a faster pace and this might be the solution. Thanks Andy
awesome than you!!
Thanks Piloto. Hope you enjoy it! Don't forget to like.
These should be on Etsy or Historical Board Gaming... Great work
Thanks.
Ok I'm starting to love acrylic markers! Really good job here.
Thanks.
DIY Game stuff some of my favorite videos! And everyone either has these lying about or has a neighbor who can save them for you.
We can be cheap when we want to.
Nice idea's! Are those stands homemade? Great idea using that style of bit it has no point to dig too deep
Yes, the bit is a great saver. No holes in my planes. Didn't loose a single plane. Yes the stands are all home made.
Hey, I just want to say that these are really good! I went through the same exact process as you, wanting inserts just for int he boxes. This was the most inexpensive solution hands down! Thanks for making this available!
Andrew Hesse : I am glad that you find this usefull.
Just wanted to know if you had any kind of setup charts Global 40 or Global 4 2
Hi John, sorry for the late reply. Not yet. I have not made any because I have seen several already done by Siredblood which looks quite good already. Hilltop pillbox
John Bowling: yes hilltop di a review of this as well. Did a great job too.
I remember this previously, really love the VC charts and plan to get it for my 2nd favorite version of a@a once I take a break from my lazyness!
Love your markers, but I'm not technologically astute (yes, using your word) to make my own and of course like I said in the other comment "I'M LAZY!!!"
Hahaha... Big words... I shouldn't do that. I do that when I get nervous. Not easy to do a perfect video in 1 take. Too lazy to write a script. So we have something in common, we are lazy. Thanks for your comment.
Andy Yan I would rather have your nervous quirk than mine, I tend to stutter and if you ever seen my videos you would know what I mean!
Hopefully we will improve with time.
1942 set up Norway gets 3 Infantry on your chart
John Bowling I'm not tick off or anything, just confused by your comment. Did you make a mistake,if so no big dealio--- if not, then explain yourself soldier.
Being poor makes me a cheapskate,so keep these diyourselfers coming! I'm not much of a bread eater, but I would have to be if I want to take your suggestion!!!
You can go to a bakery and ask if they have these bread clips from Bread that had expired. They usually throw out the bread, maybe you can get the clips before they dump the bread.
Impressive, most impressive! I wish I could of seen your video 3weeks ago, I just finished customizing my dice today but it was a whole lot more complicated and time consuming than yours!! If you watch my video you would see exactly what I mean, I could've save myself a lotta time!!! I just subscribed to you and I hope to be further inspired by your videos, but let's make it inspirational on time this time before I waste any more time,ok?!?!
Thanks. I will go look for your video now. Yes, let's look for cheap ways to make the game better. Maybe I can get some inspiration from you too.
Nice markers. Really like the task force markers! The pictures really look good in this format. Well done!
Really like that map for national objective
Thanks a lot. Hope you can put it to good use. Play on.
Always cool to see somebody customize their game. Are you going to start painting your pieces?
Thanks. I am probably not going to paint my units for 2 reasons. 1) I am not artistic enough to do a decent job. 2) painting it may make it difficult to identify which units are for which nations. I have "painted" or "marked" my battleship, cruiser, and destroyer so that it is easy to identify which is which.
Andy Yan The reason I don't is also not artistic(I hate art), but mainly because I'm lazy!!!
We are all busy, or lazy.. haha... So we take short cuts. So I hope I can provide some easy solutions for you.
Andy Yan Takes a few minutes to paint a unit?!? But I want to play war now!!!
I just don't have time to paint. But mostly because I find that it will be hard to identify who owns what unit if it is painted. So I prefer just the base color.
Nice idea for the map with national objectives ! Good work !
Glad you like it.
Nice and simple! When you do a game play video, make sure you show us these dice in action!
Will do!
