Such a peak episode for sure. We got all sorts of development from everyone. I'd say Noelle's growth was the largest of this arc though. And you just know that shits gotten real when the 1st opening (Haruka Mirai) starts playing. Asta is such an inspirational character. He motivates me to get into the gym. XD IDK if you put it together, but Yami's Dimension Slash was literally unlocked when he had to break out of that spatial sphere to save his squad. So even he powered up from this fight. I'm sure its been mentioned before, but the inconsistent animation is truly a tragedy. Studio Pierrot had basically invested more resources into Boruto, since a sequel to one of the Big 3 is bound to bring in viewers, and as such, people were going to expect the best. Black Clover was a labor of love for many animators, who'd work tirelessly to make their weekly deadlines. Even so, there were plenty of times when they had to reuse some scenes and even outsource some animation to other studios. As the hype around Black Clover grew, they were able to become more consistent, but they REALLY levelled up the quality at the start of the final arc, just before the hiatus. They also animated a movie that was pure eye-candy. Added bonus: You can spot an animation error in 50 where the temple people were thanking the Bulls. Magna removes his glasses to wipe tears, then lowers his arm and they are on for a little bit before he then puts them back on. XD its about 17:00 in this video. XD

You've pretty much made it through the "rough" part of Black Clover now. There are still some points lackluster animation, but the story really picks up from here. Hope you guys are ready for this next arc. Also, you kinda got a little taste of his backstory in the cave by Nean when Yami fought Licht. He told a tale of a fisherman child from the land of the sun that shipwrecked on Clover's shores. I know its not much, but its a little bit more to Yami's history. You gotta love the relationship between Julius and Yami.

While I, and I think everyone would like to believe that Oda had everything planned out (and in some cases it's true since he does have a plot book with most of One Piece lined out which should have only taken 5 years), I think it was more than likely not planned out. Same thing with Haki system. However, Oda is a genius that he takes what he introduces things into the story at certain points seamlessly that it feels planned out when it's not. We can see that Mantra which wasn't supposed to be Haki at the time, is Observation Haki by today's standards and it blends in so well into the story. So while Gear 5 may not have been the plan since day 1, they have so many things in the story already laid out that helps it blend in so seamlessly that it feels like that would be the case.

Since this is the Pre-timeskip rating.... I'd put the Skypiea arc 2 more floors down. It's not a coincidence that the fandom deem this arc skippable for the longest time even if this is a canon arc.

Keep it up, it gets better. Minor spoiler the leaders face was shown plain as day in this episode, but only a few fans of black clover will pick up on it.

The thing with Neige (wanted friends) is that Baro found him at a young and vulnerable time. With how desperate he was for companionship, he clung to Baro and followed his lead. I feel like Neige might also be underdeveloped mentally as well. As far as Finral is concerned. Yeah, he's a coward, but his portals use more mana based on size, duration and distance between them. He also can only portal to places he can see, or places he's marked with his magic. So after he portal'd to Nean, they probably had to hop a few to get to the cave.

BC was weekly and was always on a tight schedule & their studio prioritised their more important/popular animes at the time. that's why bc sometimes has inconsistent animation which is unfair imo because BC story/plot is top tier. if it had better/more consistent animation then the anime would be even more popular. it's all good though, you're going to see peak fights/animation later on.
