Massive damage is true damage so being able to ignore the generator makes sense. It’s the same way maul gar ISC can ignore the generator because true damage doesn’t care about the 400% defense the generator hands out. You getting no turns doesn’t help lol but just on the massive damage part ignoring the generator yeah it makes sense. But your only real damage would be coming from pao
Yep that makes sense.
Very well made and very insightful! I'm sharing this with my guild now as we're all about to unlock reva in a few days!
Awesome and congrats to your guild, glad to hear this helps! :D
Have you seen the punishing one counter with negotiator. Rex in the start lineup to sacrifice
I haven't seen that but I'm a few days behind on my YT viewing. Is this one of the ones put out by BitDynasty?
💪
“I’m just here so I won’t get fined!”
Looking at that GI cron, looks like Phoenix might still work, which is just insane. The daze should stop the TM gain, then you just have to worry about the DI, which Chopper can remove.
Looking forward to dusting that off! The expiration of Set 16 makes CRex feel like a free agent again.
Lessons learned! Like, today, I learned that freaking Finn/Zori can make things extremely terrifying when running BKM. 305 Speed Paz w/tank revive and I still lost him. It was absolutely insane. So much stunning.
I believe it!
That Sortie cron is the reason why Sortie/L3 and Rey became a thing. I would expect that to come back.
I know you're right, but what is the threat condition created by the cron on the Rey team? I can't remember now lol.
@@tassenixgaming I think it was a time out risk because L3 keeps on coming back. There may be enough power creep now to shut it down completely. I guess we will see.
Your reaction to Fatals 3 man counters was hilarious. Maybe in the future you can have guests like Aesop or Tom Ford. Also, love listening to these because it really shows how different of a game you guys are playing up there. I try to implement some of the ideas down here in K2 haha
His successful gambles never fail to impress. We did have TomFord as a Special Guest a few months back! Aesop would be a great guest but he's so busy IRL and I appreciate the time he makes every couple months for the Datacron Set Guides.

Great vid Tass. the greater the interlocutor. :) Want to just say on that Cart lvl9,when you said it is an illusion.....i agree on that to some point. But,god knows what will even next DC bring,so in my eyes i think to have one perfect Carth DC. Justin case Timberlake :)
Thanks for watching! If I end up with one I'll hold onto it but I don't think there's anything suggesting new Old Republic characters in the near future to make Carth slap. That said, honestly I really just don't see the value. At the point in the game where you're engaging datacrons and getting level 9s, are you really relying on a team as antiquated as Carth on either defense or offense? Seems like a strong B-tier team at best with the cron, at a point where the GAC board overflows with A/S-tier teams, at least here in Kyber 1.
@@tassenixgaming i have 1 brain cell on that subject,i am just a sheep folowing you .An old fart enyoing game and your content.Sory for typos, not an Eng native
No problems and I like the question! Your English is just fine.
Starkiller !!
Probably the single most exciting cron in this set for me, at least until Baylan is announced!
@@tassenixgaming dude before some minutes i fully unlocked my fist set 18 dc and it was Starkiller,im excited 😁
You're going to love it if you've ever lamented that SK seems slow to ramp unless he had someone like EP or DV to call him to assist often. Now you have more freedom in the Sith you can use!
Hello Tassenix, hope you are doing well! Guildmate and I discussed Dengar with aphra. You think there is some potential in that comp? Besides just whacking Jabba like Aphra usually does.
Doing well, thanks for watching! I think Dengar synergizes well with Aphra in this set, especially with the 10% Max Health damage on debuffs level 6 ability. However like you say, I am usually able to make Aphra work against Jabba in most datacron metas so it will need to be tested as to whether or not he's a value-add to end that fight with higher banners, or if he could be more profitably used as a plug-and-play elsewhere. I wouldn't want to squander him as a "win harder" character if Aphra still does the job well without him.
Thx for this video.
You're very welcome and thanks for watching!
My buddy sent me this video, lots of good info. I assumed the defense to offense would be the best level 6 for Mercs but the explanation on why it’s not was very helpful! One question though. Why do you want the 2% damage on debuffs for light side for Jabba instead of something like a DS Thick cron with a merc level 6. Great video though, very helpful!
Love to hear this is being shared and thanks for watching! I actually think that the bulk is probably better, in that moment on the video I was thinking about how I might apply this and that's the first and only thing that really jumped to mind. However yes, I think that the dark side bulk level 3 is likely the way, running Jabba without Skando so you take both Embo and Boba to max those bulk gains.
I still hate datacons but love your info on the issue
I appreciate that, thanks for watching! Datacrons aren't so bad now though! When they were first announced I was really negative about them because I saw it as a way to pay to make certain teams immune to lesser counters. The first two sets were overpowered at first confirmed my suspicions, but since then datacrons have been toned down and now offer reasonable power spikes to different factions in each set, keeping the strategy fresh and the desire to play (at least for me) evergreen.
Great one, as always! 👍🏻
Much appreciated and thanks for watching!
Great vid as always!
Yeah we had more to discuss than I expected! Thanks for watching.
such tight and interesting matches, really enjoyed! Was wondering how maul team worked so well against gunguns even when they still had their shield up, doing so much damage even with the shield
Thanks for watching! That was my first time using this Maul counter, it would seem that the assist damage from Gar/ISC and the True Damage from Maul make this possible! I wonder if this counter is still valid after the Set 16 datacron expires.
Great vid, so much great info. The Slacker counter on GM is so delicate, one wrong move and it is over, when set 16 is gone I guess only JMK/Plo will work. One question, on the MM vs Nass, if you did the first special on Luthen and put the frenzy on MM, I think Commando gets cleansed and gets a turn and he would have his special available, does that frustration thing stop frenzy from working? If not he would trigger MM and if she got the turn you maybe could’ve taken the gen out as you have the Omi on the first special so she would be able to ignore taunt for one turn.
You may be right that KRU/SLKR will be dead as a counter when Set 16 expires, but I expect something new to be enabled by Set 18. As far as that MM counter, that first stack of Frustration prevents assisting, so that's why I used Luthen's 2nd special. The first special would free up the Commando but that wasn't what was going to win the fight. I spoke with a couple other players that have used this counter and they said the RNG was poor for me that POW got stunned, and I never got to take a turn with MM or HRS. The one critique they told me is that I can feel free to ignore the Shield Generator using Pao with the Pao cron, so if I try it again I'll just go all-out for Nass at first.
@@tassenixgaming I use MM with Pao cron mostly on Leia but I wanted to try on Gungans. So basically the massive damage can take out the gungans even if the generator is there? Didn’t know, that’s great info thanks a lot! Hope you get a few more real K1 opponents next round so that you can post the GAC vids. Of course a few easy wins are always good to take😁
Start with a basic from Bane on POW. It double taps (attacker Cron) so reduces POW's offense by 40% and increases Bane's by 40%. There's no point using the middle special on turn one as they have no buffs. Then on your next turn if POW has foresight just do 3rd ability to get 50% TM. Only use the middle special when POW has no foresight.
That's a pretty clever nuanced idea, I will consider it. The middle is a good choice since it hits twice, and sets the stage for the next usage of the ability after enemies die. If they have Foresight on that second usage then the first strike is wasted but the second would will be devastating. Still I like your point, 40% offense off POW would be interesting...
@@tassenixgaming if they have foresight both instances of damage will be evaded. also there's not much point using it on the first turn, they'll have recovered all the protection by the time Bane gets round to another turn anyway, and they don't have enough buffs on his first turn for it to do any real damage. I don't see how it sets the stage much, compared to Bane getting 40% offense, or gaining 50% TM so his turn comes quicker and they have less chances of regaining foresight.
How would GMY's foresight prevent the second instance of damage from Bane's first special? Regarding using the middle first, I do think that perhaps this has less impact than using his basic as you suggest. Using the third ability first would really only give that TM gain, as you wouldn't have any stacks of Siphon built up to siphon max health.
Tough loss but informative as always. Glad I was finally able to catch the stream last night
Thanks for watching! You either win or you learn, and clearly I was in a learning mood!
@@tassenixgamingI learned that JKR, GMY, Barris, Jolee, and Bastila with Barris Cron is surprisingly nasty. Completely ruined my bane and Quadme and was what ended up losing my GAC
Wow yeah I'd be shocked to lose Bane vs JKR, regardless of the cron.
@@tassenixgaming my thoughts exactly. Simply couldn't make a dent into their health. Barris was definitely the issue but I'm not quite sure how I could have played it differently to win it
You should post footage in the Discord if you have it and we can have a look!
Why did you start with the middle ability from Bane and not the third?
Great question. The main reason to use the third first is to set back the enemy's cooldowns, but QA forbids this. The other reason to use it is to stack his max health, but that doesn't make much difference for this matchup. The first special does two hits and dispels buffs, doing more damage per debuff dispelled. This feels like a more meaningful use of his turn, and then once the enemy team kills DV I follow up with another middle.
@@tassenixgaming Hm 🤔, main reason for me to use third over middle would be that you take 50% of their turn meter, you gain 50% and also get speed up, offense up etc., take away 20% defense and tenacity. Another thing is it feels like the third would deal more crit damage than the second special, which weakens you due to QA‘s leader ability.
Assuming you have all omis, Bane takes a bonus turn at battle start which means all enemies are at 0% TM, so the TMR is wasted (furthermore, the TMR can be resisted and most us don't stack potency on him). The 50%TM for him and Sith allies does mean you may be able to follow up with Bane's first special before your allied Sith is dead, and it should also allow your allied Sith to get at least one turn in, so it's not a terrible idea. That said, I've played this matchup plenty both ways and found that early in a battle, I could occasionally outright kill an enemy with Bane's first special, whereas the second almost never does.
@@tassenixgaming Interesting, I only lost battles when I didn’t do third first, that’s why I always use it at the start. May reconsider, thanks man, appreciate it!
Great discussion! There are merits to both, I encourage you test either way!
Very informative, thanks, I keep learning stuff, I'm down in k4 but I'm climbing up thanks to some of your info

AdRad vs QA is huge to know. Gonna have to reroll a K2 now and try it out
Yeah that level 6 ability is nuts!
Nerf incoming! I'm so glad Punishing One is finally in the game, it's so nutty 😆
Yeah he's a long time coming but hopefully gets any corrections early on.
Looks like TIE Dagger buff instead
I really think that the retaliate lv6 might be a win condition once set 16 is gone. It won’t get holds, but it’s stripping banners if you don’t have some health/protection regain mechanic. Think of it: If you can strip 2-3 banners on most fights, that’s one complete hold at least.
Which matchup are you talking about?
@@tassenixgaming Well, let’s say you placed a very weak Jedi team on defense with that lv6. Many teams nowadays start with an attack that is supported by other team members. If your opponent isn’t careful enough, he may kill your toons very quickly, but since 20% of that attacks are thrown back on the attackers, they very likely will end up without 100% protection or health - hence lose those banners if they don’t have a way to regain health/protection. For example if you just take QGJ and the retaliate cron and look at the banners, there aren’t many with 65, regardless of what combination.
@@tassenixgaming So in this way you would eventually even benefit from a weak team, because you wouldn’t give your opponent the time to regain the health/protection.
I can see it for sure as a banner stripper!
Week 1 was more Plotting and Screaming for me. The one win I had was by 1 banner...

Question on the great mothers lineup: Do you think that Merrin is essential for the GMs on defense?
Not so long as we have the Set 17 Nightsisters long-text Level 6 ability + Great Mothers cron. Merrin brings defensive dispels and a lot of health/protection restoration which I think is redundant for now. When this Set 17 cron is gone Merrin may have a place here to defend against whichever non-GL counters emerge, but I'd be loathe to give her up from my Mother Talzin team as Jabba and Finn/Zorii teams are still pretty common to see on opponents' boards. Great question!
@@tassenixgaming yeah was thinking in the same direction to free her up for the Talzin squad. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for watching! I don't usually hold KAM for offense myself so I definitely didn't have that top of mind.
This video is the first one where you get the impression that you guys are also more or less speculating on what is to do (taking set 16 or set 17, where to use Eeth, Shin, what GM combo…) than having a definitive answer. Not to criticise the video, just underlining the difficulty of this GAC round setup.
It's true. Set 16 continues to be the generally better set but now that we have a mature roster of Set 17 as well, there's definitely merit in thinking it out. Set 18 had better bring something big or the loss of Set 16 will be so deflating.
