How to Reuse and Re-bond Hair Extensions Tips- @loveforhairextensionsandDIY
If you're looking to save some money and reduce waste, reusing human hair extensions is a great option. In this video, I'll show you how to re-tip strands of hair from old extensions so that you can use them again. Let's get started!
Step 1: Prepare Your Tools to re-tip hair strands. You'll need a few tools: hair extension pliers, a melting connector, and your choice of keratin re-bond tips.
Here’s the link to the products used in my video: donnabellahair.com/collections/kera-link-tools
@donnabellahair
Step 2: Remove old tips- take your old hair extensions and carefully remove the tips with the pliers. This will leave you with loose hair strands that you can re-tip.
Step 3: Select Strands by sorting the hair strands by color and texture and select the ones you want to re-tip.
Step 4: Cut and Trim Strands Cut the hair strands to the desired length and trim any split ends.
Step 5: Apply new tips with the melting connector. Take a re-bond and lay it on the melting connector, placing the strand of hair on top of the keratin re-bond and squeezing the melting connector to melt the keratin tip. Flip the hair stand after a few seconds, ensuring both sides of the hair extension tip are coated. Take the hair extension with the new tip out of the melting connector and hold the stainless-steel pliers for a few seconds to let the new bond dry and set.
Step 6: Repeat and Finish Repeat step 5 for each strand of hair you want to re-tip. Once you've re-tipped all the strands, you can use them to create new hair extensions or add them to your existing ones.
And there you have it! Reusing human hair extensions by re-tipping strands is a simple and effective way to save money and reduce waste.

    Holly, I’ve been a licensed hairstylist since 2002 and have been doing my own hair ever since- my color, highlights, haircuts, and extensions. The easiest way to do it is to get one of those mirrors with the metal extending arm and put it on your bathroom wall. You can move around and use it with the bathroom mirror to see 360* of your head.

      That's a great idea! thank you for the help. Now if I can figure out how to color my hair with my blonde highlights without my hair turning orange or yellow 🤣🤦‍♀️

      @@loveforhairextensionsandDIY I’m a licensed cosmetologist and a color specialist . You have to work quick when working w bleach (unless you want to do half a head at a time , that’s what I tell my clients to do when they weren’t able to come in the salon) but usually the key is making sure you aren’t getting too much hair in the foil , it will process better w very little hair in each foil.

      Their hair breaks and sheds like crazy. I tried their invisible tape in as well as i-tips and had broken hair all over me and unstoppable shedding. Bellami professional line doesn’t do that.

      i’ve had extensions for over 20 years and my hairstylist in Tennessee would have me do maintenance at least once a month so my hair wouldn’t break off or be damaged. I am living in Georgia right now and I used to go back and forth for her to do one hour of maintenance and I take out the extensions I have grown out, but now that I was laid off from my job I am saving money and doing it myself again. I tried the tape bands, beads, so women’s, along with every hair product known to man and women with Donna Bella being the best quality and I can re-tip the hair extensions multiple times

    Super Information.🥰. Do you know what the heat temperature is on the melting tool? Is the heat temp, close to cool, warm or hot setting on a curling iron? Is it easy to over heat keratin beads? Or burn? I imagine it's possible to make a few mistakes, when I start doing my own? Lol Until I get used to the techniques! I'm still learning how to apply false eyelashes. 😊. Thanks for great video👍💓

    Thanks for sharing. I would just caution you to fully remove each fusion piece at some point so you can comb through the hair and take out all yr shed hair. Otherwise nothing wrong with doing it yourself. I do mine as well!
