The reason is that there are almost no successful cases of using mud ponds overseas because the need to manage the feeding behavior of KOI is not recognized, and it is not enough to simply prepare something similar and release it there.
It's not a matter of whether or not you have the equipment installed. If you can't control KOI's feeding behavior, you won't be able to make it bigger, right?

I've never been a fan of aquascape ponds being used as a koi pond and I think the owner of the pond said it best when it comes to aquascape ponds... "it's a great garden pond but it's not a great koi pond" - if you want healthy koi that will thrive

Just goes to show how much water is under us & how important it is never to put fish in a newly made pond, fill it up & wait to see what happens. We have no clue what is under us or how it will react to such pressure & shows the power of water.
Luckily we didn’t put all our koi in. Our new mud ponds are up and running. Come to the harvest at the end of September!
