The Echo Time Causal: 2000’s economy at its best
This video shows off a very well maintained toyota echo, 2003 with the 1.5L vvti engine. As an avid Toyota fan, in my opinion this is one of the few last excellent examples of the great 2000’s econo boxes. Hope you enjoy.

This is the new Sunflower (Yellow) Hydroflask now available. This is the 32oz equipped with the straw lid which is all available for purchase at the Hydroflask website in the USA or MEC in Canada which is where I am from. If you are Canadian, it appears mountain equipment co-op is the only store that stocks this new colour.

Nice truck
I replaced my windshield wiper switch with a switch from a Corolla. The reason is the addition of the "Intermittent" feature. Simple swap out and a huge plus!
I have a Toyota Platz 2003 car 145k KM driven for family use. This car has been in use for about 5 months. This is one of the best old cars in this era fallen under the sedan class.
I’m 1.85 meters tall and it’s very comfortable. Roof hight is significantly over average and the seats are high off the ground like an SUV.
Se puede echar para atrás la fila de asientos y ganas mucho espacio-Saludos desde España.
We needed a second cheap car at home, so we got across a 2001 Echo 2 door "sport" with 175K Miles. It is very basic but runs like new...the last owner a friend of mine, did a daily 30 miles commute on it Monday to Friday for last 3 years and just made basic maintenance, oil changes, filters, etc... It is very fun to drive, MPG is awesome and it makes me wonder why not even modern Toyota's are as good as this one. I also own a wonderful Lexus RX what it is as silent, comfortable and luxurious as it gets, but still in awe of the economy beater.
Good for you!! Answer your question, business. If a car lasts too long, less money the company will make. Many feel Toyota's decline started after this car was discontinued.
Why is so good on the snow? What's make it to go so effortlessly on the snow? Front bumper's form?
I assume is has something to do with how light the vehicle is. Of course having snow tires will help of course, but you're not going to be sinking into the snow as much as you would with a car thats heavier. Also the height of it too. Echo's sit up a bit higher than most cars of a similar size, so youll get just the right amount of clearance. I love my Echo its awesome, havent got a chance to test it out in the snow yet but im sure she'll rip just fine.
I like it!
Nice truck is it for sale
You are to lucky to have that truck
Awesome truck man!! Selling it? Trading it?
you say 60MPG whooooooooooooooooo
Mine drink more than i thought but there's an hole in the manifold so its normal
I think the Macbook Pro sounds better because it's fuller. The Ipad sounds tinny by comparison so if you like more treble I guess the Ipad would sound better to you. If you have tinnitus go with the Pro.
Ipad pro speaker is unbeatable even the newest flagship tablet sound like crap.apple is very good on hardware
Your comment makes no sense
@@1gta4gta why?
hilarious to see people not believe this. my echo with ac half on half off, spare tire, less than ideal driving methods can get almost 40 mpg on the highway. if you're truly hypermilling these numbers are perfectly reasonable. take care of your car and it will take care of you 😎
I love my 03 echo. Easy to fix too, I got in a fender bender recently and broke my bumper cover, headlight, and fender. Insurance cut me a check for 2500 and I fixed the body myself for about 300 dollars and 2 hours of work. Much easier to manage than a lot of other vehicles
Having an Echo and living in N. Indiana, there are a couple of things. To the good, the front wheel drive really helps out in snow, and if you do get stuck, the car is light, and easily able to be rocked out or pushed out. However, in a snowfall of 6 in+, it does start to bog down. Also, it can be a squirrel on ice, and does like to slide. Run it in low gear in deep snow. It helps.
I had an 03 for 10 years. I know it depends on tires but overall no issues
When I had mine I got pretty good mpg. Winter in the 30s maybe broach 40. Summer, consistently upper 30s into the 40s. Sometimes up to 50. That's driving normally like what the speed limit is, even highway. Great car. I have a Yaris now an 09. I like it too and I know it's the same engine but doesn't get near the mileage as the ECHO. I know there are many factors into that but it's rare it would broach 40. I think it did it once since I've owned it but usual it's in the low 30s to mid.
I saw a Toyota Sienta attempt a -43C cold start that had not been plugged into an engine block heater and it still fired up on the first try, simply could not believe it. That is Toyota quality for you.
The sound on iPad Pro is clear, balanced and detailed love it ❤
My 2003 Echo get 30 city, 36 Hwy. Ok, but not exceptional.
Fuel economy is measured at 100 KPH or 60 MPH, never at 110 KPH
What are you talking about 🤣
@@CaptainAnytime Why laugh? Car manufacturers test hwy/city cycle fuel economy specs at city or hwy speeds or combo of both, maximum fuel efficiency is tested at 100 kilometres an hour on a flat level road surface with one occupant with no loads placed in the car. It's not rocket science, 🙄
This is not very deep snow...
My lil ugly ahh car ❤
What headlights are you running?
Ihave a 2003echo myson gave me absolute love it good in snow good on gas
Good to hear!
Not sure why people are all on about hybrids and electric. Just buy an old Toyota and you get amazing efficiency! I have a 2005 RS and still can easily get 600km to a tank.
What kind of tire did u have on
175/65/14 stock size winter tires
You'll eventually damaged your EVAP vent valve by topping off the tank after it stops pumping. When it stops pumping don't add anymore fuel. It's not worth the cost it'll be to replace that vent valve.
yeah, just did across country twice in this year & model. 40.3mpg with 3 adults and 600 lbs of cargo, and 85mph through TeHas. That's with no-ethanol fuel , with ethanol 38mpg. Needs armrests and cruise control to be the perfect road trip vehicle.
I don’t think it’s 60 miles a gallon lol.. max it would be 40 to 45… remember it’s not a hybrid car..
The MacBook Pro with touchbar is not a good MacBook Pro, you should put it up against the MacBook Pro 14 inch.
Yeah the macbook pro 14" would sound better
@@stevenhocking6407 it makes the ipad sound bad compared
Lol what? No it isn't, the 16 inch pro has the best speakers due to it's physical size
same with my echo hatchback 2005 deep snow no problem
Are these on winter tires 😂
175/65/14 stock size winters
Lets see your stage 3 weight reduction, transmission swap and wind tunnel aero mods you totally unquestionably did to attain these not bogus at all numbers!
This is very possible in an echo if properly maintained, single occupant, flat roads, low speeds, no stop and go, and no roof rack, spare tire removed, no AC, and no winds. This was intentionally done in the middle to the night on a highways with a 100km/hr limit to prevent any wasted fuel. This is not fake. Just an example of what this car is capable of under ideal conditions in every aspect. I find great enjoyment in pushing the limits of the echos economy.
@@CaptainAnytime Zero out of 404 Echos on Fuelly's well used and trusted website have attained 55 mpg let alone 60. So either your numbers are off or you're the only person in recorded history to achieve 60 mpg from a 1NZ-FE Toyota Echo. I owned one myself. I did weight reductions, in depth tune-ups, aero mods, power steering delete, ect. The best it can do without using hypermiling techniques is 43 mpg.
That’s great mileage! And you were going fast ! I love my Echo! I have a video called “ Me and My Echo”
Ipad pro has best speakers on any apple device
I can get 50 mpg out of my echo but I have to do certain things: be solo not drive over 55 mph have the windows rolled up highway drive for a large distance Generally I get around 36 mpg in the city driving like a maniac with my surfboard strapped to the top: not bad!
Depending on whether you use British or US gallon
Hard to argue either is superior. Laptop is brighter but severely lacking in bass, ipad is hollow sounding but has punchier bass. To each their own, but I would take the laptop as it's clearly much louder overall.
I love my 2003 echo sedan. it is the best.
What size tires do you have?
165/65/14
Will this car help me pick up chicks

I typically achieve over 40 mpg on flat highway driving with only myself in the car, putting the car under all ideal conditions possible allows it to achieve numbers like this.
I've got a 2000 echo I get 48 MPG no problem
Thank you for making this vid!
