The last part is so far the only real fitting description he gave, but it's not a theory, it's something passed down from high priests of Egypt to Solon and beside the information about atlantis (the name atlantis is given by plato because of the geography and the ancient greek names of places at that time) the priest also give us information about Athens that Athens was the most noble, most powerful and righteous kingdom that fought against atlantis and where victorious, but a disaster took place that ended up destroying both the athenian and the atlantea civilizations and almost completely wiping them out, the only people left alive were the ones who lived atop mountains. Now if you look at the time line they give they say 9000 years or so and everyone thinks it's solar years and thus putting back into 9.500 bce but there is a large possibility that the years were lunar and thus would put the timeline around 1200-1300bce which are part of the dark ages of Hellenism(one of them). But again the research itself is very lacking to say the least. It would take a lot of archeologists and historians and greek philologists especially to study all the ancient greek texts surrounding the subject and the putting all the information together, who is gonna pay for all of that? Most people just go at it on their own, the ones who don't even dwell into the ancient greek language, let alone the moder greek, then they are just wasting time as the information you will get online and from credible sources you would think, actually don't give any credible information on the subject. Thankfully I am quite fluent in moder greek and I dwell a little into ancient greek as it's majority the same but with a bit different structure and certain words that are being used in different circumstances but for the same things ect. So the only way I could find credible information was directly from greek philologists who are proficient in ancient greek and the different uses of words during different times. Quite a few books exist on this subject in the greek language and even recently some of such people became even well known online because they are well spoken and beside the pleasant appearance they have a pleasant voice as well, and some are even very charismatic, so the real old texts in their original form and then directly interpreted by the specialists themselves while explaining what is being said, how do we know it's that and not something else and then to the next until the whole story is explained in a matter of a few hours in a way that makes it easy to understand, and with it available is always the ability to purchase books that have more dedicated information and details on the whole subject with all the explanation and (if) necessary citations. But the described story itself gives us a lot of information even including the American continent showing how there was knowledge of the continent beyond the Atlantic Ocean as well as travels made back and forth.
Thank you very much for the long comment! This is definitely a topic that deserves a lot of research!
This was a very enjoyable documentary! I think they have proven now that the tsunamis, more than one, were over 100' (30.5 meters) tall when they hit Crete. They can tell by how far up the mountains there is debris and fallout. There is also a high wall of volcanic ash on that side of Crete. I'm glad to see you agree that Thera (Santorini) was most likely the beginning of the myth about Atlantis. People keep looking in other places, but it perfectly fits the description and makes sense for that to be what the myth was based on. It also had the port that was concentric circles, although other places had that too. The frescoes on Santorini are the true ones, but many on Crete are mostly fake, made by workers of Arthur Evans so they would keep getting funding to continue digging there. It's a fascinating topic.
Thank you for this very insightful comment! I learned something new about the debris and fallout on the mountains of Crete. True, it is a very fascinating topic. If you I'd like to watch more of our videos please consider subscribing and watching our other two videos. One explores the intimate connection between the ancient Maya and the elements of nature and the most recent one tells our journey through Greece to find the places where ancient people believed that the Olympian gods lived. I hope you like them!
@ellen4956 Some frescoes in the palas of Minos have been "restaured " by two talented swiss brothers. This "restauration" caused an erruption of interest in England and France particularly in the leterated milieu ( Proust). In our hause the walls of some chambers were painted in the minoan colors ( blue, green, ocre, orange)
Nicely done!
@@kalaysia77 Thank you so much! We have other two documentaries on our channel if you want to check them out! Also please consider subscribing to support us and to get updates on our next very ambitious documentary :)
I've been to the Gates of Hades, its a beautiful spot, but I didnt know about the Necromanteion. That's now gonna be my next trip destination this summer
@@milomoya12 We are very glad this video inspired you for your next trip! You will definitely like the Necromanteion, it’s usually pretty quiet and not full of tourists, which adds to its mysteriousness.
Looks like a great vid but could not watch as that annoying music drove me away😮
@@macalister8881 Thank you for the feedback! In the next videos we’ll try using a more subtle soundtrack. We hope you keep watching it, maybe in smaller parts. We are releasing the video also in form of multiple short videos for those who can’t watch the entire video in one sit. But thank you again in any case
Gentlemen, You know very little about Minoan/Atlantean History
Quite obviously you don’t like constructive criticism otherwise you would have responded to my comments
@@dp6003 Thank you for you comments, we appreciate both positive comments and constructive feedback
@ I do appreciate your attempts at Atlantean (Minoan) History it is a complicated subject to fully understand
More, more, more please!
@@stephenfowles9541 Thank you for the encouragement :) We are working on the next video, which will take us from the Mediterranean Sea to the Caribbean. Stay tuned and please consider subscribing to stay updated.
A great video guys. I hope you carry on with this work and I'm looking forward to more of your content
@@stephenfowles9541 Thank you very much! We have released other two documentaries on our channel that you can already watch if you are interested ;) We hope you like them even more. And we are also working on a new video about the history of pirates, so stay tuned and consider subscribing for more updates.
Thanks, excellent doc.
Thank you so much! If you are interested, we have released other two documentaries that you can find on our channel about the ancient Maya and about the Greek Gods. We are also working on a new big project :)
This work deserves more recognition. Thank you Fabio and Giulio. Great job!
We really appreciate it! Thank you for watching our video. It’s really motivating to read messages like this one. If you liked this documentary please check out the other two we released after :)
Thank you, that was a very interesting video. The Bronze Age is such a tantalising period: myths, history, and religion. So many echoes of all this today.
@@juelbriggs447 Thank you, we are very glad you enjoyed the video and the topic. If you like ancient history documentaries, feel free to check out the other two we made. In one, we travelled to Yucatàn, Mexico to talk about the ancient Maya and how their fate was tightly connected to the forces of Nature and then we went in search for the places connected to the Olympian gods throughout Greece :) I hope you enjoy!
You two are great teachers!
Thank you very much :) Super appreciated! If you like our style of videos, please check out our other two documentaries on the ancient Maya and the Olympian gods!
Atlantis and Sandorini are not the same. Look after the mount of Atlas in Africa
Interesting, we'll read more about it
Thank you!😊
Thank you for watching! If you liked this video, we invite you to watch our other 2 documentaries on the channel and please consider subscribing :)
I would take the words of philosophers who lived 1000 years after the destruction of the Mionian culture with a grain of salt the size of Mount Everest!
@@Ulqiniflorini1963 Exactly! That’s why the Santorini hypothesis seams plausible to many historians. A real catastrophic historical event that what later mythicised by Plato and generated a legend
Now, my question is: why Plato would have placed the island outside of the Hercules' columns? What's the point? I don't see it. When you answer this question in a convincing and logical way, then I will consider that Santorini was Plato's Atlantis. Otherwise, any theory is worth the other!
Factor error.
@@piercoucy You are right, the Santorini theory is plausible but also just one of many. We don’t think there’s consensus among archaeologists on this topic. The way we can hope to know for sure one day is for historians and archaeologists to keep researching and studying the topic with rigor.
According to Apollodorus, Typhon, "hurling kindled rocks", attacked the gods, "with hissings and shouts, spouting a great jet of fire from his mouth." Seeing this, the gods transformed into animals and fled to Egypt
@@joshua3171 That’s such a beautiful quote, thank you for sharing it!
How handsome!, smart and cute you two are! I wish I had a pair of sons just like you! Great video on a topic I thought I knew well, but I learned more here. I especially appreciate that you two discuss the technologies achieved by the Minoans, like for washing, water supply and drainage management, which no one else has done on YT. I also didn’t know the ball of thread Ariadne gave Theseus was red, learn something new every day! Are you two Greek? I am, well, half anyway - Greek American. Great job, I love seeing young people as interested in history, archaeology and geology as I am (I’m a geologist).🙂
@@KimberlyPerrotisThank you Kimberly, we appreciate your comment so much and made us smile. We are very happy that you think this video taught you something new :) We are Italian and love history, archeology but also science, and geology is so incredibly fascinating too. If you liked this video we have other 2 documentaries on our channel (and working on a new ambitious one), if you check them out we hope you will like them.
Thanks. This portrayal is to me the most logical and factual account of the origins of Atlantis.
@@edwardelliott5756 Thank you! We really appreciate your comment. If you liked this documentary check out the other two on our channel :) In the meantime we are working on a new and very ambitious video!
You wouldn’t make a very good detective
Don’t call Hellenic/Atlantean History Mythology

I love ancient history. Specifically mediterranean and middle eastern (including israel).

thanks, am off to ithaca the easter
I want to go to the island of Paliki. A scholar has stated thst the island of Paliki is ancient Ithaca.

Atlantis was once in a different Africa , from Europe traveled from the Mediterranean through Gibraltar turned south two days sailing to the left straight towards the concentric circles of the culture and military power , but mostly merchant power
