I definitely love this side of edm! While everyone here in Türkiye thinks every edm song is generic techno club music.
One difference I noticed is that in future bass, the supersaw synth is the main part of the drop and in the case of melodic dupstep, the drop is secondary and the primary thing is the drop beat and the drop lead sound
It's funny the title is "Sands Of Time but it's a film score" to me, because four hours ago I listened to this and thought "If I were to choose between this one and the original, which to put at the climax of a movie, I would choose this."
Ha ha I love it. Thanks for listening, friend!!
this is so dope man! always been a fan of your music dude!, i just wanted to ask you something, as producer myself who looking to release, i want to get singer on my tracks, i cannot pay them upfront, so i am thinking of 50/50 split, i will produce mix and master track while they write lyrics and record the vocals, do you think this is suitable? yes they might help promote but in the end i will be paying for ad campaigns, as pro yourself and having an amazing track record with other artists how would you do this man
Hey friend! Thanks for the kind words! Most singers want a fee up front. If you don’t have money to pay up front, I would recommend networking with singers who are just starting out and might be interested in getting more experience. Or I would use a site like vocalfy which is very affordable!
Well done, great video and great production on your song. loved it
Wow thank you so much for the kind words! Thanks for watching!
Definitely agree with your assessment, I don't feel like I have an issue telling the difference, but if you're not familiar with all those bits you mention, they could certainly be grouped together by listeners
Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words, my friend!!
Pretty late to this, but I know that feeling of first hearing Future Bass (maybe Melodic Trap at the time) and my mind was blown. I have been around the electronic music scene for a while now and shift through phases (electronic [didn't know genres at the time] > Trance > UK Hard House > Happy Hardcore > Breakbeats > Glitch Hop > Future Bass), but when I finally heard some certain songs with what I feel like are the gold standard of Trap and Future Bass, I was totally hooked. It definitely was that feeling of "where have you been my whole life?!" like everything I listened to had something that grabbed me, but when I heard that gold standard Future Bass sound it was like a missing part of me suddenly came home.
Yes what a feeling! I’ll never forget that time of my life! Thanks for sharing this!
Great video!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate you!
SUPER helpful video! I'm new to the edm music production scene, and I didn't even know the difference. Appreciate this one 🤙
I’m so glad it was helpful! Welcome to our community! Send me your songs when you release them! I would love to hear!
@moxjade of course! Tell me what you think when you get them, though it may be a while 😆
Am I crazy or is this video criminally underrated?
@@BeeLightened ha ha thanks for the love! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!!
This is an awesome video! I'm so happy to finally see SOMETHING about my all time favorite genre of music. I love it so much yet I don't know a single person in my life that even knows what it is. Heck even when I do show it to people, they can't tell the difference from "regular dubstep." And yeah, I get why, it has the same drums, the same heavy fills, and that gives the same overstimulating feeling that "regular dubstep" gives. Having beautiful melodies doesn't seem to make a difference to regular people. It's very niche genre and isn't something that everyone is going to enjoy. So I'm so happy to find a place where it is appreciated.
Hey there! Thanks for watching this video! I agree! Melodic dubstep is such a special genre! Which are your favorite songs?
@@moxjade I believe "Time Stops" by Virtual Riot was the song that introduced me to the genre. I was really into brostep, complextro, and glitch hop back then, so naturally I was drawn to Virtual Riot. I liked the melodies and deep basses of complextro and glitch hop but also the big drums and slow tempo of brostep. One day, I was casually browsing his discography and came across it. I noticed that it featured a singer. At the time, the music I listened to was usually intrumental, but I had always been interested in hearing more electronic music that featured vocals. so I was intrigued. What I heard was unlike anything I'd heard before. It was the first time I could describe dubstep as pretty or even cute. The vocals were gorgeous and the mood was happy. Then came the drop. I can't even put into words how I felt when I heard the drop for the first time. All I can say is that I instantly fell in love and knew I needed more of this wonderful genre. That was back in 2015, but even now, "Time Stops" is still one of my favorite songs of all time. As for other songs I love; Trivecta's remix of "Without You My Love" by Seven Lions was another of the first melodic dubstep songs I found. "Follow You" by Au5 (2nd drop specifically) "Naked Soul" by Nurko "Mercy" by MitiS "The Chasm" by Crystal Skies (2nd drop specifically) "Lunar" by Virtual Riot "Spirals" by Sound Remedy and Illenium "Runaway" by yetep, KLAXX, and Aviella Last Heroes and Crystal Skies' remix of "Breathe" by Laura Brehm Crystal Skies' remix of "Never Be The Same" by Tritonal "Gone Before Goodbye" by Nytrix "Home" by Alesda! "7 Seas" by Brillion, Jade Key, and Varsha Vinn "Silent Skies" by Seven Lions "Where Do We Go" VIP by Mazare "Aurora" by Synthion (2nd drop specifically) "True" by Synthion (2nd drop specifically) "Make You Cry" by Au5 "Imagine" by Xeuphoria "Reunited" by ColBreakz Ehallz remix of "Keys in Tokyo" by Stepa K Ricky Mears' remix of "101" by Walla Virtual Riot's remix of "All I Know" by The Chainsmokers "Weight of the Heart" by Camellia Erio's remix of "The Garden of Imperfections" by Miro "Was it You" by Au5 (2nd drop specifically) Afinity's remix of "Stay" by William Black Blanke's remix of "Drown" by Dabin "Night Caller" by Abandoned, InfiNoise, and Project Nightfall (3rd drop specifically) "Letting Go" by Mendum "Impulse" by Ben Walter "Safe & Sound" by MEDZ "When I Fall" by Teminite and Cadmium But my all time favorite drop has to be in "Back To You" by Man Cub. The first drop is pretty good, but then the 2nd drop has to be the most perfect drop I have ever heard. I'm not sure it can be topped. If you pick one song from this list to listen to, I recommend this one! (Just typed this really long comment only to accidently reload the page and lose it all, so I had to type it again, man. ;-;)
now hoe about future bass and heaven trap
fantastic video thank you!

@ let’s gooo!
Since I don't understand music much, I still find it hard to understand the differences :D I will prolly have to watch more side by sides :D but still, your video helped a ton and it was really really entertainign to watch and listen to! and I found out I like future bass a bit more :) Thank you! :) ^^
I’m so glad it was helpful! Thank you so much for watching, and for taking the time to leave a comment! Future bass is the best!
The score ALONE deserves a thousand times these likes.
Thanks for the love!!
This video helped me realize that I really don't care what the differences between Future Bass and Melodic Dubstep are. It was very informative.
Yes! The genres really are a perfect fit for each other, and bring a lot of the same feelings and euphoria! Thanks for watching, and for taking the time to leave a comment!
this was a great video! That being said, "Gemini - Blue" I remember hearing on UKF Dubstep in later 2010. That might be first I ever heard of it, Blackmill comes to mind as well. You simply cannot make a melodic dubstep video and not include adventure club... I was listening to all these songs back in 2010-2011 when they came out. This was for sure good coverage but I don't feel included everyone, I agree that it was for sure producers that were making trance, inspired but the huge rise of dubstep to experiment and thus birthed "melodic dubstep"
Yes the example of Gemini is a great one, and I think strengthens my argument about “simultaneous invention.” Gemini’s approach in Blue EP is very different from Xilent’s, for instance. I strongly considered talking about Adventure Club for the third artist in this video, but ended up talking about Nero instead because I wanted to talk about Promises since it was such a huge hit. But perhaps I will make another video and explore Adventure Club and Gemini… also I think the early history of Blackmill and chillstep would be very interesting as well. Thanks so much for watching, legend!!
very great song🤍I love your outfit!
Thanks for the love on the tune and the fit! I appreciate you!
Great Video! I do think artists like Blackmill and Phaeleh deserve to be a part of the conversation
No doubt! For this video I wanted to focus on melodic dubstep artists instead of chillstep artists, but I’m certain chillstep heavily heavily influenced the sound of melodic dubstep! I want to do a deep dive on the history of Blackmill at some point! Thanks for watching!!
Jeez killlerrrr production sir! So well done!
My maaaaaan! Thanks for taking the time to watch! Thanks for the kind words!

@@moxjade Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time 2003 - yes. Great game. Great music and good gameplay.
Yes! Such a great song! And I love where you guys filmed the video, that must have been a blast!
It was very surreal to be at the sand dunes at sunrise!!
It's seven lions case closed
Seven Lions definitely determined what the sound of melodic dubstep would be for the following decade!
