Gene Romero was a top rider back in the 1970s, TT, FlatTrack and GP, AMA Numero Uno plate holder. I have not heard his name for years and seeing this brought back memories. I can't say, 'It seems like yesterday', but it does not seem like it was about 50 years ago. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley in the 1960s and 1970s and without a doubt, taking all things into account, generally, there could not have been a better place and the best era in the human history.

Went to visit Bud Riddle last month. He helped Rob with his Husaberg. Was sad to hear that Bud is suffering from age related illness and I ask all to pray for him. He's a really great guy.

I was a novice and junior with Hocking at Ascot. He really was something special. So many good memories. Was both shocked and saddened to learn that he is no longer with us.

I raced indoor short track in the 70's as a novice pro. Back then for indoor all three categories, Novice, Junior and Expert pro raced together. Pretty tough for a novice to compete with the very best. Watching Rick Hocking be able to throw a motorcycle around as he did and still be super fast was nothing short of amazing and on noticeably low tire pressure. I still have an indoor race poster with him on it displayed in my garage. Rick is not forgotten.

This was the race right after Toby got killed, they all had those T-shirts on honoring Toby. Corsettis bike broke in half when he hit somebody's bike that was laying in the straightaway. I remember this well.
