The pineapple screws are fun to watch roll boards to their next positing on the green chain. Suggestion for next video is showing how you guys maintain, sharpen the head and planer blades. We did all that by hand and we got them razor sharp. No nicks to cause runs. Thanks for the great videos 👍🏻🇺🇸 🙏🏻✝️

Great video. The tensioning rolls do a great job holding the lumber tight to the bed plate and the straight edge. I always found that 12 footers were the shakiest length to feed.

Thanks for the video! I dearly miss working with lumber and working all the machines at my former custom lumber mill. Newman 500 with custom moulder and blade shaper side heads, 6" resaw, 6-blade gang rip and 3 fast stack green chains. Graded and processed over 1.5 million board feet of redwood from LP. Great times for a 4 man mill.

An oldie but a goldie still humming along and putting out the FBM. My eyes might be deceiving me but how long are the bridge rolls? From the pineapple/booster to the first planer feed roll is the distance that I am talking about.

The amount of dust coming off of the lumber is crazy. Was the air dried or kiln dried? It must have sat in the yard for quite awhile.

Have really enjoyed the planer videos you put on TH-cam showcasing Newman planers in my 30 years of working in sawmills and planermills I have fed three planers. A 16 knife 4 head Stetson Ross, a Yates a10 10 knife 4 head machine and a 20 knife 4 head Coastal planer. One morning I put 150000 fbm of 16 foot 2x6 thru the Coastal in two hours without stopping.

Why no planer feeder to orientate the product. When f running squares you should feed the heart side into the outside head to prevent the piece from pulling away from the straight edge.

No planer feeder to set up the feed? To make sure all the lumber is fed wane up to maximize the grade outturn.

Okay, so what’s the purpose of this machine apart from the obvious which is it makes a hell of a lot of shavings!!!! Is it to produce shavings from solid timber only to be used to be compressed back into chipboard!! I don’t know, maybe explain!!

Is this done with fresh green logs, or somewhat aged and a bit dryer logs? Wondering if moisture is a factor in the shavings.

I would love to go back into custom wood mill work again. Custom planing. I helped install, run and maintain a Newman 500 belt driven planer with custom heads, green-chains and grade sorting. Ran a million and a half board feet of LP, So LP redwood 2x4/x6 from 8ft to 20ft lengths for decking, fence boards, etc. Best job ever!

Please demonstrate how it works by showing the machine planing both side by maybe can spraying both side of the board and then plan it for your views. I will love to have it

I have a few questions about you side head jointers if you got a moment

I remember the first time I saw a Newman Whitney thickness planer. It was a thing of beauty. Beyond my budget and requirements but my God it was legendary. I know you guys are focused on industrial high volume gear but if you ever decided to make a panel saw or classic machinery for small to medium size shop's you could show those Germans how it should be done. Even a small 12" thickness planer and really promoted it as superior to that Taiwanese junk. I'd buy one. Hell, I'd pay extra for that sexy name plate too.
