Two roads diverged in the forest and I took the one less traveled.

Riding in the dark , after sunset , pre dawn , is my favorite time to ride
Just stumbled across your channel not that long ago. Enjoy following along !
Very nice thank you for sharing a beautiful ride
I got a Litespeed Watia two years ago for my bike camping adventures and opted for mechanical shifting for this reason. Maybe I’m just an old paranoid man but it was something that I just didn’t want to deal with! Great video my friend and beautiful bike too!!
4:01 I just changed my Trek 920 rotors to 180mm Sram Centerlines 2 days ago. I used to have Avid 160mm f/r. I remember when I toured across the U.S. one night when I was gonna stop to set up camp, it was 9:55 p.m. & was still light out. I found out that I was just a couple of miles west of the timezone line.
Wonderful country ❤. Where is this?
@@martinswede77 California, USA
Looks beautiful. Is that a Litespeed Ultimate Gravel? I have one with Spinergy wheels too if it is. Mine uses a Garbaruk cassette and Rotor crank. Currently using a bar end friction shifter so when I change change wheels, there are no issues. I like mechanical groups for simplicity and dependability. Jealous though. I am in Chicago where there are few gravel options though do go to Southern California a few times a year. I enjoyed your video.
@@Lowell-oo7cf it’s a Litespeed Flint. I was thinking of getting the Ultimate but settled on the Flint, because of how much I bike pack. No matter how much I to try to keep everything nice it just gets beat up from the wear and tear. Not 100% in love with electronic shifting so far. I also like mechanical over electronic.
Great video 🎉😂❤❤❤❤❤
Nice video. Thanks for sharing the ride
Have you been able to view comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS out there?
@@tracerxrider Yes, and other cool things.
Bikepacking Overnight | When Darkness Falls, very good my friend
Interesting night ride
Another great video
Nice scenery. I would appreciate it if you identified the roads and lakes you past.
395, Honey Lake, Milford Grade, Little Last Chance Creek Road, Frenchman’s Lake, 284, 70, 49, S860, Dog Valley Road
Awesome
I am enjoying your videos so much. I can't wait to gear my bike. I am interested for van tour
I am enjoying your videos so much. All the way from South Africa
your photography is wonderful. strong shot of our orbiting neighbor. The beauty and the changing colors of the sunset on the clouds was striking. Your camp site photos speak of classic forest scenes. Well done. Perhaps your weary exhaustion sharpens your photographic eye. I hope your channel does well.
I enjoy the quiet nature of your videos. The natural sounds really illustrate what it's like to be out there. By the way, how do you keep the critters away from your food?
Beautiful camping spot you found.
Great to see one of your videos early today. I just posted one also. I'm heading down Sherwin grade this morning
another great video. I have as of late convinced myself that I need (want) a dedicated off road bike that I could load down with gear. the bike I have settled on is the jones LWB out of Ashland OR. 200mm front brake etc etc. I am in no way affiliated with jones; just a prospective customer... I await your future offerings.
Thanks for all these forest service road vids
Awesome. Is this from this summer? I’ve been coming through there on my last two tours and thinking of spending more time there
Yes, this was in the summer.
Nice bike. When I get my new bike I intend on riding it for about 15 years and I don’t care what the bike industry comes out with. I will still be riding the same bike (I hope).
Very nice. So peaceful.
Great idea looks awesome
Nice
Thats right! old tech is new tech, and what goes around comes around. the important thing is just keep going.... as comfortable as possible. Great vid and location. Kudos!
Enjoyed your video, I do a lot of bike camping in lassen NF on the Mineral side.
Absolutely beautiful share
❤
😢Well done story on your Alfine journey. I built an ice snow winter utility bike with an Alfine 8 hub😊in on a 90s mountain bike, and it has grand ice breaker. I ride on hill and valley land and its lack of gear range will keep me from building another. It is more weather resistant and tougher than external gear bikes. At zero F deg (-18c) the gear prawls quit shifting too. Priority bikes is probably the biggest promoter of Alfine 8 bikes in the US. The Alfine 11 is more modern, heavier, a different tooling, but still has range issues for me. I am taking my Alfine wheel and hub to a distant shop to have it cleaned and serviced and new small parts kit after three seasons.
Did you have cell phone reception the entirety?
Maybe 60% of the time.
For this route on a light touring bike what tire width is good to lessen dirt road jitter? I’m thinking 40mm. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
We just rode from Stampede, to Bear Valley, Sierraville, Portola , and back over 3 days two weeks ago. Weather was great and the bears are out. Enjoyed the video.
I don't see much about the light itself.
I like using things for a while before doing a review. I now have enough time on it for a real review. Video coming soon.
Some cats look elegant, others look fierce, but bobcats look villainous. Always look like they're planning something.
Wow, seeing a wild bobcat in a city park is truly astonishing! Never expected to witness such an incredible sight in an urban area. This is why nature never ceases to amaze us. Amazing capture, @PMUncharted! 🤯🌳
Just chillin in the cool grass.

I've been wanting the same tent setup for about a year now. I use a Big Agnus backpacking teant that sets up really easily and I've never had issues with condensation. Do you think this would be a good summer tent and have you had any issues with locating a spot in the rocks to set the stakes? My current tent is a standalone and I could skip the stakes if neeeded. Thanks for any input.
It’s a tarp tent. You would also need to buy the bug internal net if you don’t want to deal with the bugs. It’s extremely small inside the bug net. Summertime no issues with condensation. No issues with locating a spot to setup. You can always use rocks if you can’t put a stake in. I had to do this twice on the PCT. Tarp tents are learning curve. If your happy with your tent. I would stick with it. I use and own Six Moon Designs and MLD tarp tents. Both work well.
What month did you go do this?
Ok this style of lightish weight camp cooking is right up my alley! As I love to cook. Thank you also for the link the freeze dry wholesalers, I never heard of them. I will be trying some of the raw meat options, that would be fun to be able to grill a steak or chop with no cooler!
you sir, are talented in your cooking and your bicycle skills. you aren't on a mountain bike, but yet you don't seem to let that stop you. Have to try your recipe. but where did you buy the dehydrated chicken? Thanks for your video.
It’s from FreezeDry Wholesalers. Link is in the description above.
@@PMUncharted Thanks, guess I was too excited to try your recipe and didn't see the link.
5:23 is that a comet? airplane? that's so awesome
Thanks for sharing your overnight trip. What GPS do you use?
No GPS. Doing it old school with National Forest/BLM paper maps. lol
I just picked up the Outdoor Vitals 1 person Fortius tent . Haven't used it yet though .
I can't understand why you have only 65 subs. I enjoy your vlog and the places you camp.
It’s a mystery for sure.
Thanks for not ruining the video with music.
