The Saturday evening dance (with music by The Outstanding Open Band) at the Langlois Cheese Factory was a ton of fun! Many Thanks to the South Coast Folk Society for hosting it!

What a wonderful vid. I was 3 in 1961. When I was older in the later 60s I always had to wear a tie at Christmas too. Those boys reminded me of myself 😊. TY sir for very nice memories.
"in the Irish tradition" ... what is this meant to mean? The song is written by an Englishman (Lincolnshire), who by his own description is from a long line of Grimsby fisher folk. It was written about Grimsby fishermen, but like many songs, lots of people from other places can empathise with it and sing it. The tradition it most closely fits in with is English, but as I say (and I am certain John Conolly would say), anyone can sing it and find it meaningful.

That's a start to an amazing camping weekend. I go up to a week long northern MN car camping trip every year that offers similar experiences.
That is a fishy trestle!
Well, that's one cheerful tune!

Why was this recommended to me

Definitely not a black tail. Could be a mule deer.

My family, the Fords are also buried there.

Bound for /Australia/! That sure is a long way from Cape Cod. Any version of this shanty seems sad-- but, I suppose that's part of the point.
I love this one!
