I love history and especially broadcasting history. Beginning in the late 1960s I recorded many airchecks and newscasts from the radio as well as assorted audio from television programming, at first on reel-to-reel recorders and later on cassette recorders. As time permits, I will upload these on my channel, as well as other recordings that I've assembled in my collection.

INTROS TO “UNTOUCHABLES” AND “TWILIGHT ZONE,” NEW YORK TV, APRIL 7, 1975, 11:30 P.M.
Back in the days before TH-cam, classic TV channels on cable and even VHS tapes, the only way to catch an early TV favorite was to see it on reruns. Living in northern New England, classic reruns were scarce to find 50 years ago. Because of this back then I’d bring my tape recorder south with me whenever I’d visit my sister in Connecticut. She picked up all the New York City television stations and WOR, WPIX and WNEW were the kings in running reruns. Day and night they filled the air with TV classics from a decade or more earlier. During a visit in 1975, I recorded from Channels 9 and 11 these themes from two of my favorites from earlier years, “The Untouchables” with the unflappable Robert Stack as Ness and Walter Winchell doing narration-as well as the unmistakable intro to “Twilight Zone” and the voice of Rod Serling.

Do I remember correctly? A G morning network radio program still on air Feb. 1970 ?
Yes, it was still airing over the CBS Radio network at that time.
I listened to this station every day as a truck driver. I could pick this station up all the in Richmond VA. Was my alarm clock for wake up since I went to work at 4am. Sorry it's gone
This must have been after Ms. Sands left WCBS 88 for the first time (her second stint would be from 1981-82 to 1989). At the point of her first departure to anchor CBS News radio hourlies like this, she had been co-anchoring middays with Ralph Howard. Her replacement as his co-anchor at that point, for a brief period before WCBS decided to have him anchor solo, was Jane Tillman Irving.
thanks for uploading this

I was 15 months old.
This is great...Thanks..
Thank you for uploading this. It's months before I was born so I can't really call it memories but very cool to listen to a time when "News" was still News. We long for a time when the the big government scandal was only "Call-girl relations" Oh how far the political world has evolved......
Edward R. Murrow and Charles Osgood are screaming from Heaven "Fuck you, Audicy"
What a shame.... Destroyed by idiots dry humping their cell phones
This is an excellent Bud Ballou aircheck! I listened to him often. And I called the station from time to time. The DJ's did answer the phone. Top 40 radio at its best.
The station's greatest moment was the tenth inning of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series.
Hey Bing! Did any of your kids ever collect on their trust funds yet?
And just think you can do this all over again next year when NBC turns 100
Fun to listen to this again my parents and I caught every episode it was some pretty good stuff you dug up then on NBC
ANNOUNCER: President Nixon is in hospital with viral pneumonia. ME: I wouldnt be surprised if he dies from it.

LOVE your posts, Charles! Thanks. And Happy New Year.
Thank you very much for posting the Amrican Information Radio News. I haven't heard the opening and closing since I was in Jr. High School. I don't suppose you have the one when they were broadcasting the happenings at Attica State Penitentiary in Upstate New York back in 1971?
Shut up and say something.
Exactly 5 years from this broadcast, LBJ would die from a heart attack.
JJ Wright on WRKO. I remember him on KISS 108 in Boston in the 80’s
different century, same shit.
is generalissimo franco still dead?
Lol at the Saturday Night Live reference 😄.
And the local news from Mitch Lebe, now a weekend overnight anchor on 1010 WINS - where he'd begun his career back in 1958 as the "Teenage Disc Jockey." Ironically, as a part-time anchor (since 2017), he's been at WINS longer than in his earlier run as a D.J. But this still puts him in company with three other WINS'ers who'd transitioned from spinning records to reporting news - Paul Sherman, Stan Z. Burns and Brad Phillips.
Any relation to Mutual's Jim Bohannon?
Reading John Bohannon's obituaries, there is no evidence to suggest any such relation. If there were, it would have been noted. But I doubt you're the only person to ask that question.
Slow his delivery down about two-thirds, and you'd have Mark Levin in 2024.
You used the wrong logo, the wrong logo is from 1943-1954, the logo nbc was using at the time was the 1976-1979 trapizoid n logo, please change it!
I realized when I put it up that it was an earlier logo. It is meant to simply recall NBC's rich past. With over 5,000 views, I cannot reload this entire upload simply to change the logo. Sorry.
RIP broadcast, legend, sorely missed
Does anyone know at what point WCBS began to have a BOH tone at :30 as well as the :00 TOH tone? We can see on this it was there in '71 . . .
& now William Conrad plays "Superhero Man" (either 1976 or 1977) & shuts out the lights & he says "Where Am I??" & CBS goes into a commercial!!! 🤣
This reminds me of what happened here in Georgia with Ted Turner and his ownership. Turner lost world championship, wrestling Atlanta Braves baseball and the Atlanta Hawks. WCBS radio was the news monster for the New York Metro area. I always listen to that station. why? Why? Why did they had to go? My uncle is from New York and I really feel bad for everybody in that area and myself who always loved broadcasting. I do forecasting on the radio and I hope. I still have this job for many more months and years to come. rest in peace WCBS radio. you will be truly missed and will never be forgotten.
The hourly tone at this point (heard between 5:04 and 5:05) was :00.7 sec. (700 ms) in duration, and was roughly ~750 Hz. Can't tell if it was sine or triangle, given all the processing and transmission artefacts. NBC's time tone durations over the decades ranged from 250 ms to 300 ms to 400 ms to 500 ms, and then this. Its frequencies ranged from as low as 687.5 to as high as 810 Hz.
This is so great, just I remember it. Thank you. Too bad it was recently changed completely.
The Blue Network became ABC.
Love this Charles You really bring me joy just to hear these news casts from years ago,a world that wasn’t as complex and dark as our present one.Thank you again Charles for these soothing memories
Thanks for this. Great to see new material.
@@gli7utubeo you are very welcome always looking forward to your new material, always great to listen to the beautiful past
It’s funny how many people want to do this again even though we KNOW it was a huge disaster the first time.
The Happy Days was a true classic. And nice to hear it recorded live from 1976 😊
No nonsense
