Welcome to the inaugural episode of Ultrasonic Testing - Demystified, where I'll discuss all things UT. In this episode, I discuss the signal characteristics to expect from different types of weld flaws. In subsequent episodes, I'll dive a little deeper into the subject.

    Why don't you see LOSF from the other side of the weld?

    • @programmerdave9425
      @programmerdave9425 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Detection of LOF is best when your beam angle is +/-10 degrees to the bevel face. Can't get that from the other side of the weld.

    Thanks! Interesting, clear, not complicating things. Please may you explain how differentiate between root flaws (lock of penetration, ID crack) and weld root geometry (excess penetration)? With one side access only is reliable? Looking forward for more episodes, Regards!

    Jeff- Very nice video. I like the good live training material showing both video and signal at the same time. Interesting explanation of using side drill hole analogy of slag for the wrap around signal. Regular text book explains the trailing signals from a slag different faces that gives reflection. Overall nice video and looking forward to see future episodes.
