A versatile chassis, but ...
In this video, I'd like to share my experience with a 5-year-old SFF workstation from HP, HP Z2 G4 SFF. It has been 5 years old at the time of this video. Can the RTX 4060 Low-profile bring it a new life?

A practical combination? I was wrong!
มุมมอง 10K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
In my last video, the combination between the RTX A2000 and the i5-8500T inside a tiny PC didn’t result in good performance. I got some responses/suggestions from community to try a tool named ThottleStop. So in this video, let’s continue the story about the interesting tiny pc and see if performance increases. Check out my previous video first to understand the situation. th-cam.com/video/Av0l...

Improve my noisy Dell workstation
มุมมอง 9Kปีที่แล้ว
The Dell T5820s are designed to be workstations or servers, so the performance is prioritized over the noise. When the summer comes, the stock fans produce huge amount of noise at high speed to keep it cool. It would be stressful when sitting next to it. In this video, I'd like to share what I did, which might be helpful if someone also want to suspress the noise, while still be able to maintai...

An Ampere GPU and Dell SFF PC's PCIe x4
มุมมอง 2.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Since using the aged Dell SFF PC - Precision T3420, I saw many opinions that 70W GPUs (no external power supplying) won't work with Dell SFF PC. In the previous video, I already confirmed that the GTX 1650 dual-slot works well with open-ended PCIe x4. In this video, I confirmed it again with a more powerful NVIDIA Ampere GPU - the RTX A2000. This time I also did a test to know how much the perf...

Limit your frames to 60. This should help with the 0.1% and 1% lows and reduce stutter. You can use RivaTuner to set a framelimiter for games that don't have such built in.

You don't need 2 fans inside the case. One on CPU is enough. 1. Close your case! 2.Create flow inside by directing hot air from CPU outside (don't let it to return inside the case) 3. Let CPU fan suck the air from entire case cause GPU is doing the same so you always have enough fresh cool air in it. Noise will go down again. Use physics first then power :)

My opinion of the modded mini is that in it's current state, it works well as a compact workstation or office PC. It would also be good as a portable LAN gamer for E sports titles if it had a better CPU. (Clockspeed) The Current GPU is actually a workstation graphics card. It's drivers are optimized for CAD work. You could try loading regular Nvidia Drivers for the Gaming Card equivalent, or trying to find a 1 or duel slot gaming card. It's a CAD machine as it is.

Back in the days of the 1st gen Intel Atom, I paired an Atom 330 with (I think) a 9600GT, but there was a minimum CPU clock requirement, so I had to overclock the Atom to something like 2.2ghz in order to get it to boot, but it worked fairly well for the time period. I also experimented later using a discrete 9500 card (The GPU component of the Atom 330 was based on a GeForce 9500) and it did perform a bit better than the onboard graphics. Kind of the inverse of the clock speed problem you had here.

I have something like that but like a real sff,it's dell optiplex 9020 SFF it come with intel core i5-4590,4gb x2 ram,Seagate HDD 500gb 3,5. i got it for 25 EUR. Now i'm using it at daily drive,i upgraded ram to 16gb (4gb x4) and custom modded SATA power cable so it can power 2 hdd's,and i putted in 240gb kingston ssd 2,5 and WD blue 500gb 2,5. It have 255w PSU 80+ Bronze, and i will get soon an 1050ti 4gb low profile for it bcs igpu isn't good. Good luck brother with all that, that's cool, that's what i'd wanted to do xD

I found this video very interesting 🤔 maybe you can add power to the VGA card using modding on pcie adapter. Add a step down from 20v to 12v and connect it on power line at 12 v of the adapter. In this mode you can get all power from gpu card bypassing the power controller of the mainboard

Nice video! I noticed something about the CPU. Most of the time it runs at 805 Mhz. Only in FIFA it reaches 2.1 Ghz quite stable. Maybe you can try to update the bios to the latest version, or check if there's a power limit on the cpu.

as i was watching you test fitting the gpu i was like "oh man if he would 3d print the top and back enclosure" my guy you delivered ❤ i love these mini PCs especially they're not so expensive like the newer ones and the CPUs are socketed I'd recommend you try the i7-8700t because I'm not sure if the board itself can handle the i9 because it doesn't consume 35w as it says on paper but more up to 70~80w either way, i loved the video and your work is great keep it up ❤❤

afaik you can't run a 9900T in that mini PC. coffee lake 9th gen used different chipsets than 8th gen, and even tho it would fit in an 8th gen motherboard, 8th gen systems wouldn't boot with a 9th gen cpu. might be fixable with a bio modification but i doubt lenovo released a bios fix that would aallow the end user to upgrade to 9th gen. so, if you're doing this at home, stick with 8th gen unless you're ok with the risk that it might not work and/or need some work

What i did is i used the Y splitter for the CPU fans, and instead of attaching the 2 fans on the cpu heatsink, i attached one ( on the heatsink) and the other one to rear of the case using some bolts, works great, it never exceeds 65-70 degrees in gaming, but still it can get a little toasty at 80 degrees with a stress test, then again the cpu pulls almost 170watts so it is expected, the fix to that is with XTU limit the max wattage that can be used by the cpu and it will never exceed 75 degrees even on a stress test

excellent project, I think you need to start building a habit of including dust filter holders in your prints, that way you are not consistently cleaning it. Sad the GPU support was lacking. Maybe a CPU upgrade? given the total 300w budget you now have, might be worth it?

One thing about the HP mini PC. If it's the AMD version, the CPU is one of a very few that use thermal paste instead of solder under the IHS. All you have to do is carefully cut the rubber adhesive and warm the IHS up a bit to delid it. I used some PTM7950 phase change pad on both sides of the IHS (using it as a shim, as the HP heatsink won't reach without it.) and it gets extremely cool and quiet.

Very interesting! and a very clean modification. The A2000 is definitely pushing it, the single slot T1000 50W isn't actually that slow and pretty comparable to a GTX1650 laptop GPU, weirdly it also comes in 8GB model. I have seen some single slot modifications of the A2000 that apparently work quite well, with a shunt mod you could permanently lower the wattage to 50W as well but of course modifying an A2000 is probably not something many want to do :)
