The Family Cruiser 250

Just purchased our 2024 Land Cruiser 1958 trim in Ice Cap White and want to share our owner experience both on and off-road. Stay tuned for daily use, adventures and mods.
2024 Land Cruiser: Installing OnBoard Air Compressor (ARB + CATuned Off Road)
The ARB + CATuned Off Road On Board Air Compressor is your best option right now for an “OEM” fit, no drilling , DIY install. We all know ARB has the best compressors out there and CATuned out of NorCal designed the perfect mount for the 2024 Land Cruiser.
The mount places the the compressor in the engine bay where the ECU & ECT are located. The install of the mount and compressor was fairly easy considering I do not have a ton of experience. The only thing I’ve installed on a car in the past were speakers and a cold air intake. It took me approx. a total of 3.5 hours to install. There are some tight spots where bolts need to be removed and screwed back in while mounting. That was actually the easy part. It became difficult when I got to the wiring. CATuned tutorial video did not include specific wiring instructions and the diagram in the ARB manual helped a bit. I had to reach out to Max from CATuned who was responsive in explaining the wiring.
I hope this video helps a little for those with little experience installing and wiring parts into a car. Thanks for watching!

Santiago Peak in the 2024 Land Cruiser and Its Common Issues

TRAIL DAY IN THE 2024 LAND CRUISER 250
มุมมอง 4.6Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Took a day tip out to Lake Arrowhead via the Pilot Rock OHV Trail. Easy dirt fire road for beginner off-roaders. There were some off-shoots for more technical obstacles if that's your "cup of tea". The LC250 handled everything with no issues besides the annoying notifications that come on while in 4LO. I am still riding on stock suspension with 33" tires. This trip was also the first time using...

Is there a place where you're keeping track of all of these mods that we can follow along with? I'm planning on getting this next year and would love to duplicate what you've done
I’ll post a link tree soon here on YT and ig @familycruiser250
Just picked up my 2024 First Edition LC black on black. I've got some gold methods going on it ;)
Gold on black is such a good combo. What size wheels and tires are you getting?
Nice! I installed the same kit on my LC. I had the same issues. The wiring instructions were non-existent, lol.
@@studio3686 yea, had to contact Max from CATuned to man-splain it.
Speaking of rattling. That MF’ing keychain dangle or whatever that is on during your talking segments is killing me. Nails on a chalkboard.

I also experience engine rattle sound (don't like feel of it) in the morning after first start around 30mph and goes away after a while when engine warms up. I took to the dealership, could not repeat- trying to record sound of it so can share with dealership- possibly engine was warmed up. I like my land cruiser overall.
Yea, it may be something we all have to live with.
So what did the dealership say about these problems??
@@chappell2615 Dealership couldn’t replicate the engine rattle. Probably because the engine was warm. Could not replicate the A-Pillar rattle noise, so they probably didn’t drive it over 70mph. They said the brakes are due to the new material that is used on Toyota brake pads. 🤷🏻♂️
My wife’s brakes on her new 250 squeeked today in the morning when we where pulling out of the driveway. After 1900 miles. Interesting. My tundra had the issue after 35 thousand miles and went away after I changed the brakes.
Such a great video!
@@toyotaofclermont thanks! I’m still trying to figure out this TH-cam thing 😜
I have Landcruiser trim. I get some noise coming from what i’m and thinking is the gap between the top windshield and the roof line. i’m pretty sure it’s just how the air sounds there 🤷🏻♂️. i’m still getting used to the sounds of a hybrid like the regen sounds, ev mode sound etc. And that turbo whistle.
@@providentpathfinders219 not the best sounding but still such a great driving experience.
I have the squeaky brake issue in the morning or whenever the car sits undriven for several hours. More of a squealing sound that goes away after a few brake applications. Some Lexus GX owners are also experiencing the same problem.
Dealer told me it was the new materials that brakes are now using. 🤷♂
I noticed the cold engine noise the sounds like a rock in a tire. It disappeared when engine warmed up.
@@scottsullivan7176 yep, that’s what we found as well.
I have done this trail many times with my 2wd Honda crv
@@m2steve2m yep, saw a Prius halfway up
My Tahara built First Edition has been amazing. Perfect balance of on road comfort and offroad capability. My only frustration was figuring out how to calibrate the driver seat to allow me to set the memory on the seat positions. Great youtube tutorial helped me with that. I have only used it for some moderate trails so far, but it hasn’t even broken a sweat yet. Don’t anticipate doing any modifications until I discover something that I want to do with it that I cannot do with it as built.
@@rodneyblanchard3308 yea, my mild build is pretty much done. Focusing on gear and efficient packing for a family of 4 on road trips
Can you provide where this trail begins?
Since the fire is still burning you may be out of luck.
@@Fernyg323 it’s the Maple Springs Trailhead but will be closed for a long time due to the fires.

The stock suspension is so comfortable and the articulation is amazing for a stock setup. Part of the reason this suv is so capable off road.

Love the video. I definitely want to get my LC tire wheel setup like yours; how much room do you have with that fitment?

These are the videos we need! Any chance you might measure the distance between the two outboard tether points? Trying to get a sense for how much space we'll have compared to our current car + if we can fit a third in the middle!

Have the same LC 1958; sick wheels 👍
Plans for it?
I really like that setup, I'm really considering getting the same on mine. What size tire is that? Also, was there any rubbing when turning the wheel?
One last question: How did the new tires affect the MPH?
@@juanmontoya2006 Tires are Standard Load 285/70/17. I am not sure how it affected the MPH. I need to check with my dealer if they recalibrated after the new setup.

Great vid! Did u have a chance to drive with the lane tracing assist and dynamic cruise on the freeways? How does it perform? Does it keep the LC reliably centered in its lane even on more aggressive freeway curves? Thanks! Looking to see if the LC would make for a solid highway crusier for roadtrips (+for socal traffic stop and go😊)🎉
@@R56Cooper the dynamic cruise works great especially when I need to tend to the toddler in the back for a quick second. I use it all the time especially on longer drives. I of course never use it in heavy traffic.
Nice! What size tires do you have? Also do I see a winch and light bar on your LC? Looks pretty cool!
