So, in-game, Katarina can use E to jump to her daggers. So the place dagger down (W) into jump back to the dagger (E) was a nice way to show that in cinematic. Also, some of the sound effects are straight from League.

Btw the reason a lot of the base skins are futuristic has to do with the story for marvel rivals. Basically modern day dr doom and the future 2099 dr doom both experiment with timeline stuff and cause 4 different timelines to get mixed up the modern day one we are used to then there’s the 2099 future then there’s the mosaic timeline they called it and the destroyed future timeline those are the main ones at least there are other too I think. Most of these characters base skins are from one of the alternate timelines and most the modern day timeline characters we are used to will be the classic skins for character’s probably. An example is captain America base look is a 2099 version of him who fought in WW2 but was frozen until 2080 that’s why his armour is like that same with moon knight this is a moon knight who has been around for a long time and is also from the future timeline punisher is also from 2099 here him and black widow basically took a drug to make themselves live a long time I’m guessing Hawkeye did the same or he is a different timeline psylock is a psylock from the past who got pulled into this mess that’s why she looks like she belongs in feudal Japan cause she is from that era. You can look up the rest if ya want but that should explain generally why they look how they do.
