Sébastien Giniaux and Joris Viquesnel met twenty years ago, and have never stopped playing together since.
A friendship built around music. These two have in common an open mind that allows them to navigate between a wide variety of genres, creating bridges between musical styles that seem, however, very distant. Gypsy jazz, like Django Reinhardt's but also Balkan music, classical or contemporary music. From Ravel to Radiohead, from Nougaro to Chopin and even Romanian gypsy music or the oriental coceks from Macedonia. So many musical styles that have so much in common that they never stop exploring together.
Sébastien and Joris have participated together in many musical projects and recordings. They have shared stages a thousand times in France and abroad.
The "Duo of strings against windmills" that we see in this video is the fruit of these years of exchanges and complicity, of this search for music and freedom that they share like Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, fighting against the windmills of the commercial music industry.
Sébastien Giniaux:
French guitarist Sébastien Giniaux is one of the most recognized guitarists of the new generation of Django Reinhardt-inspired musicians. Born in 1981, he is also a cellist, painter, and composer, and plays with many different bands, in many different musical genres. Jazz, Gypsy Jazz, Balkan music, West African music, etc. Sébastien is a very open-minded musician. He has traveled the world with many of the best artists in the world, such as Biréli Lagrène, Taraf de Haidouks, Cherif Soumano, Richard Galliano, Didier Lockwood, etc.

Joris Viquesnel:
Drenched in music thanks to his father; A passionate guitarist who will teach you the basics, Joris started at age 16 playing on the streets, on the subway, and in bars.
Later he studied classical harmony in David Lampel's class at the Paris 10 conservatory. He is passionate about jazz and in particular the music of Django Reinhardt, thanks to which he met many musicians in Paris, his hometown, including guitarist Sébastien Giniaux who It helped him develop a more personal musical style and vision, discovering and experimenting with traditional Balkan, West African music, classical music, and French song.
Joris has worked with various groups and musicians such as Norig, Maryll Abbas, Angelo Debarre, Rodolphe Raffalli, the Selmer 607 collective (Adrien Moignard, Rocky Gresset ...), the Yuma (Cuban salsa).
He now lives in Brittany and plays in various ensembles, including Norig (Romanian gypsy songs and others), Sébastien Giniaux Trio, Someswing Else, La Rallonge (French song), Maryll Abbas Trio
