There's some really strange comments here; I have no idea why people insist on doing that. I would just like to say, "Thank you" for doing a very thorough video on Puyallup (including how to pronounce it correctly as I had no clue). You gave me so much information about living there without me actually visiting there, and I appreciate it. GREAT JOB!!!

Tacoma is much more chill than Seattle. Lower population density makes a huge difference.

Bonney Lake does not enforce the Washington State Shoreline Management laws. They permit homes that should not be built on the lake according to the laws. An example of this, is my neighbors, who covered their permitted bulkhead, which is suppose to be bolders, with concret taking about a foot and a half of my next door neighbors shoreline. The city did nothing, but when she filed her complaint, this guy just started harassing her. I watched clean his roof a couple years ago and for the whole time, he directed the debris onto her home and property. Those are the people who live there, at least MOST of the ones I haveI known. I lived there 35 yrs, and with each new neighbor , I lost more of my view and waterfront. What ended it for me was when I took my laptop to the city and showed the city manger and the code enforcement officer a City Planning Determination that kept my neighbor from using my side of his dock, as his dock was never permitted, nor was it built to code, it was within 6 ft of my property line and too long. This was in Febuary of 2023, I kept checking on the progress, the last time I went in of perhaps half dozen contacts, the code enforcement officer told me she could not find this Determination. I had showed to her, emailed it to her. This creature had the nerve to tell me that not only had I not sent it to her that I had never shown it to her with my laptop. This neighbor had gotten to the city and worked a deal,

I was born& lived in WA my whole life I laugh when people say it rains all the time. That's what Washingtonians say so people don't move here. It's like when the Vikings named a beautiful green country Iceland to keep people away

Hey guys. Appreciate you trying to be neutral in your observations. I moved here 2 years ago from Fort Worth TX. I was told to buy as far out as I was willing to commute (your traffic. comment was spot on). We don't go to the city unless it's necessary. Which is the case every once in a while because the choices for commerce are very limited from what we were used to. Even living this far out is not what I would call safe. The week before Thanksgiving, I got shot at in a grocery store parking lot as 2 teens were trying to rob a lady. I would highly not recommend moving here to anyone who doesn't want to have to look over their shoulder constantly. Sorry

The "Weed" laws here is another embarrassment, see law makers here care more about businesses than people & Washington State still has Prohibition in regards to Personal Home Grows ... they have tabled 1 form or another of bills into commity to remedy that travesty for 5 years straight... F Washington for that, personally the State has set me back to 1996 being that I was a native of Calif. For 58 years & was growing weed @ home B4 I sold it & bought another home in Puyallup.... did I say F Washington State for that.

No state income tax is overrated... sales tax is 10%, every entity like power, gas, trash charge U misc fee's & most services R higher like vehicle registration & insurance. Plumbers up here get away w/grossly over charging, there is no BAR from consumer affairs regarding automotive repair & they tax U on labor when U have most services done especially @ your home. So for a 58 year vet of So Calif. to say Washington State is more expensive is embarrassing.

Puyallup reminds me of North Hollywood

Question - I'm considering a move (back) to the PNW. I lived in Silverdale for 2 years when I was in the Navy from 2015-2017. I have a buddy who was stationed at JBLM so hung out in Tacoma often, but didnt really get a feel for the neighborhoods. Is Puyallup near the major hospitals? I work in surgery and would need to be within 30minute call range if I had to come in for an emergency.

I'm going to JBLM soon. Heard mixed reviews about Washington. So hopefully it goes good.

Currently there are a lot of dangerous homeless people riding the commuter (Sounder)train. They rob people and ride all day refusing to pay and the police don’t help you. Seattle is a sanctuary city and the police cannot chase criminals (a law thanks to our forsaken, woke, Democrat state Governor Insley). 😑 All of Puyallup is in the path of Mt. Rainier pyroclastic flow just make sure that you can follow and complete the posted evacuation route in 10 minutes, there are plenty of evacuation sirens around town.

Tacoma is not alone in this. Seattle and Portland also have seen an increase in homelessness and other major cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles. America is starting to look like a 3rd world country with these homeless camps popping up everywhere you go.

I would disagree about no new construction- there is a TON of new construction going on downtown and hilltop/New tacoma it’s just mostly all high rise apartment/condo buildings and townhomes. I will agree that traffic sucks. Like all the time everywhere, on the freeway, on the backroads, on the Main Streets and the neighborhood.
