Hi, I have the same 60hp mercury. I was testing my engine on the garage and when I cover on the upper valve of the solenoid valve it seem like the engine wants to shut down. As I release, it runs again. Does this mean the solenoid is kaput? Thanks for any advice

My 08 60hp started to do that. With a lot of digging around I learned that it compensated for to rich of a fuel mixture. I sprayed a can of injector cleaner into the air box with the engine running and it seems it did the trick.

From time to time my 2005 60 hp 4-stroke Merc will just lose power and go to idle or shut off. I can squeeze the primer bulb in the gas line and she starts back up and runs fine. After much troubleshooting I determined my problem is the connector for the gas line to the engine. It works loose and the engine starts sucking air. I replaced the entire gas line, bulb, and connector. I still had the problem. Now I put a thin layer of grease on the connector and snap it in. That seems to work fine for about 4 months and then I have to grease and reattach it again. My theory is that the engine is made here in the U.S or Mexico and the connectors are made in China. Poor fit. But I don't worry about it because all I have to do is squeeze the bulb when it stalls -- a cheap fix.

The issue I had ended up being a cracked spark plug wire that was grounding out. Causing the motor to miss. The solenoid actually has not cause me any problems. I was just curious if this was normal operation for the valve. Thats why I posted the video.

Hi same thing is happening to me. I know this video was uploaded few years ago. How did you end up fixing the solenoid issue? At idle, the solenoid works fine, its when the revs are increased it sounds like the video. Thanks Paul

Did you determine whether this was the problem? Having the same issue with our Mercury.

I would check the points. And replace the cap and rotor. Have you pulled the plug wires to check to see if you are getting spark to each cylinder?

don't know if you can help me but I have the same one but it keeps on missing it sounds like it is running on one cylinder I cleaned out the distributer and it still does it. what can be wrong

AWESOME!!! I shoot the same crossbow & LOVE it. Has bagged several deer & turkeys over the last few seasons. Our spring turkey season opens April 15 this yr & I get excited as a kid on x-mas morning every yr!!! Take a kid fishing or hunting & pass on the tradition everyone!!!

Thanks I have replaced the fuel line and replaced the fuel filter and I run non ethanol fuel with fuel stabilizer so I will clean the injectors again and comment on this vid when I run next

Sound like plugged fuel filter. Or the injectors are gummed up. I have a friend that had problems with the injectors. He had them cleaned and it runs fine. You need to make sure you run marine stable in your gas the ethanol. Gums up moving parts after it absorbs moisture. It also attacks our fuel lines. Good luck.

My 2006 40 4 stroke does the same thing! Does your engine seem to have any other problems besides that because mine will be running then will stop and go to idle and usually turn off then I can't get it to turn on. I think it's. a fuel delivery problem, what do you think

When I hit turkeys they drop right away with my bow. Never need a second shot try using a magnus bullhead, then again us Canadians know how to hunt.

Awesome video man! Great job; looked like a fun hunt.

i just rebuilt my '50 i got for free (cost me $3000 for parts and what-not). i did it all original. check out my channel. if you need seals and bearings, try and go aftermarket to avoid paying CaseIH markups. i went to industrial bearing and seal suppliers w/ the Timken numbers out of the Case parts manual and managed to get most of what i needed.

Thanks Drew. I just happened to be wearing it that day under my fleece. I thought Alex did a good job for his age. He made me really proud on the bird he shot. Can't wait to get the video edited and up. I am having trouble with my editor not reading the .VOB file correctly. I want to get a better camera before this fall so we can record more of our hunts.

No a big fan of Rage broadheads. For turkeys I like a big cut three blade. For deer I really like Slick Tricks.
