I'm a white lady, I worked in customer service for a long time, and I learned pretty early on that if some offended looking white dude is having an argument with anybody Black, 98% of the time the white guy started it out of nowhere, and he's expecting me to be his back up. i never want to try and paint a false picture in my head of what happened, but can i ask why you didn’t try and understand where the dude was coming from? the events were basically 1. this dude cut you off so you decided to stay calm and thought nothing of it 2. he cut you off again and you confronted him about it by grabbing his cart 3. you called him stupid 5 times and ignored everything he said before saying you were just gonna continue shopping 4. you turned around and went back to the argument, this time with an employee who was clearly just trying to make sure there was no commotion in her store and had zero skin in the game. again this is just what happened based on what you said in my mind, i feel like if you listened to the guys explanation instead of ignoring him you might have been able to de-escalate? or maybe it was just abundantly clear that he was being an idiot and trying to start something with no ground to stand on

I’m telling you dude, these older especially white women are the same. My boss/manager acted in the EXACT same behavior. Did the same to me. Ruined my entire week. My coworkers were confused by her behavior because I was kind and well behaved but my manager just went ape shit on me for no apparent reason. Just talking and thinking about this boils my blood, because when we both took it up to the GM and HR, of COURSE they sided with her and said I was in the wrong. Even to this day my lead is confused about my manager’s behavior. F her.
