There seems to have been quite a few movements in the area of Laurel Canyon, which were cultish. From the extremely wealthy, right down to the extremely poor. A sort of future seeing, reseeding of humanity with the best and brightest. The original getaway for wealthy white men. The quasimilitary fortress in the desert, in which the mansons lived. The Manson family themselves. As well as numerous other cults, which have disappeared, and those which still continue to this day. It seems difficult to believe that these all were organic in origin. The Nazis also had their own cult, the Thule Gesselschaft, as well as some, if not many others. Europe seems to have had many over the centuries. Perhaps it was due to the fact that California was only emerging as an urban area at that time, and land was relatively cheap compared to Europe, or the east coast of America. As we all know, with the coming of immigrants to America, each group came with their own agenda, and very many microcultures within greater cultures.

Having read the book, I found the honorable mention section to be just as fascinating as the rest of the people mentioned. For me, the power of this book was that it keeps building on coincidence after coincidence until the reader, or listener in this regard, finally comes to the conclusion that there are far too many coincidences.

Once again, excellent job! I was a little disappointed with the honorable mention section. This topic is absolutely fascinating to a lot of people, and I think you could milk it for a lot of videos.

First of all, let me say what an excellent job you've done! I started reading this before it was a book, when Dave McGowan just had the online thing, so probably around the same time you first came across it. Recently, I listened to a very lovely English lady here on TH-cam, who read the whole book, very pleasant voice to listen to, but the first video was over 5 hours, and the second video was 7 hours. I also love the fact that you have put a lot of pictures in here in order to show exactly who was being spoken about. It definitely helps an awful lot. I was actually considering doing the exact same thing that you've done, but you have done it in a far better way than I would have, or could have. I really wish you the very best of luck and hope that you get a lot of people watching this in the future!

They were NOT the First Hippies. The First Hippies started in Malibu. Two German Immigrants from the "Nature Movement" in Germany, 1920's, migrated to L.A. in the early 1930's fleeing the Nazi's. They opened the First Vegetarian restaurant on The Sunset Strip in 1937. Those two Germans swelled to 10 men and 2 women Living on the Beach in Malibu. They appeared in Life Magazine in the Late 1940's. One of those "Hippies" was Eden Ahbez who wrote the song "Nature Boy". Vito was a "Beatnik" in San Francisco in the Late 40's early 50's and when he went to L.A. he fell in with the First Hippies in L.A.

David Crosby's band? Good singer and song writer, but too much drama, making him an albatros and loose cannon that made him more trouble than he was worth having in the band. They had enough problems without him.

By the time Vito and Carl got together, Ken Kesey already had a "hippie" scene going on near Palo Alto. By '64 they had already traveled to the New York World's Fair in their dayglo bus, Furthur. Kesey had already participated in the CIA's LSD/psilocybin experiments at Stanford in '61 and shared his experiences (and acid) with like minded explorers before '63. Kesey wrote One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest while under the influence of psychedelics and the book was published in 1962. By that time the scene in Palo Alto moved to La Honda where the Grateful Dead played and then the scene moved onto the Acid Tests. The rest is history. (BTW. Zappa and his ilk hated hippies 'till the day he died). I would characterize Kesey and his band of Merry Pranksters as the OG hippies. I ended up knowing all of these Bay Area people like Jerry Garcia and the members of the Dead (they have all been my neighbor at one time or another). I was friends with Phil Lesh before he died in October. I was a "hippie" lawyer for 30 years in Sonoma County and ended up representing some of the Dead and their family of artists, roadies, etc. Those of us still here are old geezers, but speaking for myself, I'm still on the bus. Still a hippie.

They created the counterfeit culture in the 60s and it's been social engineering ever since culminating in the latest ridiculous warped mutation sjw/woke degeneracy they have been attempting over the last few decades.

First hippies? That would be the Merry Pranksters in '63-'64. Vito and his circus happened later in '65 - '66. Vito and his circus, including Suzy Creamcheese, ended up in Cotati, California. Vito died and Suzy moved to Sebastopol, Ca., and were my neighbors. One kid was named Phreakus Paulekas, and one daughter was named Gruvi Nipples. She died of liver failure due to the hard life she led. I'm not sure if Suzy Creamcheese is still alive.

I read this book shortly after it came out, and shortly after having read Operation Chaos. Both books are incredible reads that I've had to read again due to how much information is packed in. Listening to this review really brought back how ludicrous the idea all of these things happened and so many murders all occurring, truly is. Look forward to more.
