I would stick with that engine. I have done swaps before and they are expensive and time consuming. The 3.2 is a lot of fun but you could have just as much fun with some new cams for your old engine.

Hey, nice to see you back at it..I need to do the same thing with my old girl. Compression test will tell me hopefully., Fingers crossed, It's not broken!! Mine isn't getting hot but feels a little flat.😢

Stick with the 12V. It'll be cheaper that way. Did I miss out on something? Did you have bad leakdown or compression? Compression seemed consistent.

Honestly, nobody is going to give you a perfect answer, weight your options. How much do you like the car, how much do you like driving it. I had an mx5 nc i loved, but it was my only car, i could not be dealing with the rust and ABS issues it was giving me while also being my daily, if i had a garage i would have kept it, but thats just my circumstances.

Happy new year! I think your 12v head is worth the love still . Take it off and see what needs to be changed. Then again, its all up to you of course

I haven't seen any videos from you for a long time. My friend with his Corrado 2.9VR6 is also preparing for a cylinder head repair. It looks like his valve burned out. He bought this engine from a drag racing guy, who assured me that he had overhauled the engine and it was in excellent condition. My friend hasn't even driven 1000 km, and now he needs an engine repair. In Ukraine, it's normal to deceive people, and it's very offensive.

From what I'm seeing this is not your daily driver. I would rebuild it with performance parts just to make sure its more reliable in the long run. You have a "unicorn" there! Keep at it! cheers!

You should try to find smoke machine. Then you can see where it goes.

What was the mechanic's diagnosis? It seems to me like the cylinder head got warped during overheating. With oil coming out of the compression tester hose, it's leaking between the cylinders and oil passages. Did you check if the cooling system gets overpressurized too? Maybe white smoky exhaust with coolant smell. Can't really tell with a winter cold start. You should probably take the head off to see what's the damage exactly, before deciding anything. Sometimes you can get away with a surface skim and new head gasket.

Now don't start with all sorts of things. Just get the head gasket changed or whatever needs to be changed on the engine. And get it started and see if you're still happy with it. And if you still have the motivation to continue with the exterior, then take it at that time. Remember to have the thermostats that are now on the outside of the engine and in the water pump replaced so you know you don't end up with an engine that is uneven or boiling over in front of you again. Best car i ever owned but, sad to say, one of the most unreliable as well. Cooling system was the Achilles Heel and don't get me started on the jobs to do 1. the crack pipe and 2. the dreaded heater matrix. Mine was 'dragon green' just like yours but was a crappy automatic, having said all that i would have it back in a heartbeat, a magical car. Best of luck and subscribed!

I have owned one of my Corrado's for more than 21 years. I love it even though it gives me nothing but problems. Luckily i have 5 other Corrado's so there is always one good one. lol You are right about the shape and the smell. Every time i get in one, i am reminded of when i bought my first one 21 years ago! I hear you talking about very precise temperatures 116, 108, 140. I think you see these numbers inside the on-board computer. And by doing so you overlook that it is because it is the temperature of your oil instead of your water. Normal driving temperature of the oil will be around 114 116 depending on what quality of oil you are driving with. And 140 is not impossible if you are driving on the motorway and are a little fresh on the accelerator. So you should not be upset or nervous about that. Instead, you should keep an eye on the needle in the dashboard and make sure that it stays between maximum and minimum. Because that is the optimal working temperature and it should preferably not move above the minimum level. You can easily drop a little on an incredibly cold day. The fact that the intake manifold is cold is completely natural because that is where it draws the fresh air in, of course via your air filter. Which can also vary and express how hot and how cold air you will get into your intake. But it shouldn't be something you should be nervous about... I haven't actually watched that many of your videos but I thought they looked nice and they were nicely recorded and edited. If you want to make sure that the car is at a good temperature then you should concentrate on the water pump if you are unsure possibly keep an eye on the circular water, and possibly change the thermostat inside the water pump. I have tried it several times it has not opened correctly and then you get a car that gets too hot in the summer

Are you sure the temperature is that high? Is it not just an incorrect reading from the sensor? Did you try to measure the temperature with a laser thermometer, example on the oil pan?

If outside air temps are cold intake can be cold it happens to my engine when its the season and usually it is always very hot especially with short trips with lot of shut off and go, i had a 944 got it for very cheap, non turbo but had 16" fuchs poor mans porsche but rich man Volkswagen actually now with prices even base models are expensive, if i get another i would want one in lesser condtion or 924 and would modify it or modernized the fuel injection because they had good aftermarket for those cars like cams and racing bits, also 20v sounds better 😝 1.8t the best 😂😂 1.8t in 944.. now thats my 10k car 😎

Keidi please carry out a compression test before stripping it also use that leak detector that changes colour if there is exhaust gases in the coolant

Still on the cooling and idling issues (I know you're about to park it). Have you thought about pulling the thermostat and just cutting away the "valve" part of it? The car would take a long time to warm up, but at least for troubleshooting, when it did get up to temp, it would eliminate the thermostat as a problem in the cooling system for when you do get through the rebuild. Food for thought. Also, on the rough idle, yours is an OBD1 coilpack, right? Have you tested out that goofy idle stabilizer valve/EGR at the side of the throttle body? It's only held on by those plastic tubes, which could have a hole in them (causing a vacuum leak). You could block them off one at a time and see if/how your idle changes. I have a few OBD1 intakes and I don't use them (I switch to OBD1), so I could probably ship you those parts as a donation to the cause.

I have 2 Corrados and the fogs is a problem I'll have to tackle this winter. I might see about 3D printing a lens that can retrofit onto a MK3 or other common fog light. Also, it's nice having a rare car. Stick with it!
