I'm a publishing and content marketing tech industry veteran, and former Editor-in-Chief of Data Based Advisor and DBMS magazines, and founding group publisher of the Intelligent Enterprise and Transform brands at Miller Freeman (later CMP), and later creator of Terrella Media, as well as a husband, father, and music aficionado based in northern California USA.
I created this channel to share home movies with friends and family, and in 2016 I met composer/multi-instrumentalist Rachel Flowers and began to post videos of our travels to music events around the country. As word of Rachel has spread, those videos have become the focus here and I'm taking this opportunity to promote a GoFundMe I created in 2018 for Rachel's benefit. Rachel is blind (since infancy), and requires extra assistance at home and on the road, as well as adaptive tech in her studio. 100% of funds go into Rachel's CalABLE account (see the links below)

Nights in White Satin -- Rachel Flowers and Michael Sadler (Progstock 2018)
Rachel Flowers and Michael Sadler (SAGA) perform Nights in White Satin at Progstock 2018 (Rahway, New Jersey)
I believe this was their first collaboration. They later appeared together a few more times and collaborated on the 3-song CD titled "3x2."
Thanks to Mark Cohen for the main section video and the entire audio and Robert Pochek who contributed several seconds of video at the start. It also includes some video I shot myself.

Rachel Flowers and Mike Garson "4 Hands" - NAMM 2018
มุมมอง 13211 หลายเดือนก่อน
Rachel Flowers meets up with the amazing Mike Garson, who was demoing at the Synthogy booth at NAMM 2018. This was totally spontaneous, but I was fortunate to catch it on my phone. Don't bother complaining about the noisy background. It's typical of the NAMM tradeshow, with lots of conversations and musical demonstrations happening all at the same time. *Rachel Flowers is the astonishing multi-...

Rachel Flowers Bends the Laws of Physics with Rachmaninoff
มุมมอง 28K6 ปีที่แล้ว
At NAMM 2018, Rachel spent a few hours with the Korg Grandstage. At first she mostly fiddled with the knobs. Later, she started giving the piano a real workout. On the last day of NAMM, she put it to the test. Keep in mind this was a tradeshow exhibit, with guitars and other keyboards yammering all around her. This wasn't a planned performance. It was just a test. Just for fun. p.s. I promise I...
Rachel Flowers Attacks This Lovely Piano
มุมมอง 3.8K6 ปีที่แล้ว
At NAMM 2018. FYI the piano survived and is doing fine. Keep in mind Rachel is just trying out the piano on a noisy tradeshow floor. This was not intended to be a "performance." The best part is when a bystander interrupts Rachel and she resumes playing seamlessly. The piece is Keith Emerson's arrangement of Alberto Ginastera's Malambo. A properly recorded version of this appears in Lorenzo DeS...

July 11, 2011: I thought I was going to die. Caught in an Iowa thunderstorm. Set up my tent in the early evening and woke up at 2:30 a.m. with the tent filling with water and all the stakes pulled from the ground. I escaped to my car and watched the storm shred my tent.

Wow wow wow! I'm so greatful. She is so good!
she has actually played with him already
Great job Rachel and friends! Loved it!
What can I say? Rachel is amazing! Always!!!
I Love Rachel!Shes so talented.❤❤❤❤❤
This was the second LP I got after a Top of the pops LP with voodoo Chile on it, I was 13 , I loved ELP then came Relics. Selling England, Tull, Yes. Zep and best of all Zappa. What a time to be alive.
Brilliant.
Bella voce e molto simile al compianto Greg lake 👏🏻👏🏻👑
Beautiful
I'm surprised the organ didn't melt 😄
WOW ,who covers Tarkus? Amazing and jaw dropping. Rachel is a star!
Thank you very much for posting this video... very exciting!!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Rachel is awesome! I interviewed Carl Palmer for a radio show I syndicated... Saw ELP twice in the 70's in college! ROCK ON RACHEL!!!
@@progresswithpamdaniels5337 Thanks Pam!

Rachel, Keith. Mark, Carl. Al bajista hay que regalarle un CD de eLp.
She does this really realy well, and I am shocked that I just learned she is blind!! and this is the first time I listened to the whole video of this song other than ELP
The keyboards are great...can't hear the bass and drums as much
I had to turn down the lower frequencies to offset some distortion on the low end. My little smartphone and field mic were a bit overwhelmed, as I had to guess the recording levels (no sound check).
Yet, another amazingly wonderful performance by Rachel! She needs a new person behind the soundboard, though...
You can blame me for the sound. The person behind the soundboard did just fine.
@@DavidMichaelKalman I was speaking about the muted/cut off vocals, excessive and erratic effects (reverb/delay) on the vocals and unnecessary microphone feedback. That was due to the person behind the board. In fact, Rachel later raised her hand to indicate that vocals were coming up later in the song, since she probably thought that the singer had spaced out and had started to sing late in the song. Your videopersonship was fine. Thank you for making the video of the excellent performance. Please keep up the great work!
Excellent!
I'm amazed how true this is to the original ELP.
I love this girl. She is utterly amazing. I'm privileged to sit here and listen to my favorite musician "Keith Emerson" in the body of a beautiful Blonde Lady who is So Blessed in Music.. Thank You Rachael.....!!!!!
You all must have spent hour’s rehearsing kudos to the whole band and of course Rachel just amazing!!
There were no rehearsals. The artists worked remotely until arriving on the Ranch where they performed together for the first time.
@@DavidMichaelKalman Impressive 😄
ok someone tell me...why aren't Rachel and Carl Palmer getting together and doing shows ???!!!! This is more ELP than what Carl's doing right now !!!
Because Carl has his own band which has used his band mates to replace Keith with their guitar interpretations of his music. He'd be dumping them for Rachel after all these years.
They could form Bielatowicz, Flowers, Palmer, they'd be great
@@bkpktrekker4086 well I KNOW he has a band, thanks very much but it's ALWAYS bugged me that the guitarist was trying to replace the keyboards, it's NEVER worked. And Rachels' like..right THERE...more Keith'd up than Keith was in his later years.
@@EastmanD maybe Carl was trying to create something different out of respect for Keith, maybe he didn't want to replace him with another keyboardist. Of course if he wanted to do that he had his pick! I saw him a few times, no it didn't sound like Keith but I liked it, it was what he wanted to do, I appreciated that he way playing small clubs where I could stand 3 feet from his kit. It is working, he's been doing it for years around the world. He's having fun, I doubt he's doing it for the money.
@@bkpktrekker4086 Well I agree throwing up a Keith-sub probably wouldn’t have worked. Cause for the longest time his Moog sound was either avoided or not reproducible. Rachel is quite unique in many ways and would go over like gangbusters. Now one problem that might not be avoided is that Carl (however much I love him) has slowed down and whether Rachel would enjoy herself would be of concern. She possesses all the enthusiasm that the young ELP was known for. So the physical age gap might pose problems.
最高🎉最高❤
omg incredible 😊
Perfekt ✌️
I close my eyes and I hear Keith...Rachel, you are a genius (and yes, I heard you playing in different styles...brilliantly.(
Excellent, truly enjoyed it. 👍 Shame about the mic, but what can ya' do 😉
Yeah, my Tascam field recorder was not really up to the task... or I had the gain set too high...
I was referring to the vocal mic that the sound guy forgot to turn up. The overall recording sounded fine to me.@@DavidMichaelKalman
@@20YearsofTascam-rc1he sorry I misunderstood... (I didn't notice an issue with the vocal mic, but I'm not a good judge of sound quality these days.)
This is an amazing cover, very lovely. Though a tip for the bass guitarist, the boss distortion pedal odb3 is actually very close to the same distortion Greg Lake used on Tarkus, give it a try!
Thanks for the tips! @ Ed Platt
@@DavidMichaelKalman props to the bass player because he is amazingly talented by the way! Everyone killed it
Brilliant!
Qué genialidad
Great job by all! I have to call out special kudos to the drummer. Bravo, my friend! Well done.
Totally nails it
ELP usually sped this up when they played live. It's refreshing to hear this version played at the same speed as the original recording.
Simply amazing!
Met her briefly in 2012 La Quinta CA at the Greg Lake ' Songs of a Life time tour. Greg realized what a talent she was and footed the bill for Rachel and her mother to stay at this resort. Rachel seemed like any other young girl. What is going on with her defies description on our current knowledge of human capabilities. Why is she gifted with these abilities and is this something we all can tap into?
Nobody knows for sure. Both of her parents are extremely talented musicians, so there's definitely a confluence of nature and nurture.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩
I just can’t believe how beautiful this is
Thanks. You might also enjoy Rachel's Pictures at an Exhibition, also on the channel.
She’s stunning and amazing!!!
Wow ..this was great ...!!! greetings from Chile

She's equally amazing on flute, guitar, and bass.
Wow she's fantastic.
