Do you have a picture of moon from there?
Nice! How long of a climb is from Palmer to the top?
@@comedyoferrors5884 I think it’s about 3000’ from the top of Palmer
@@seamus.dolan98 I meant how long time wise....Thanks!
@ entirely dependent on your individual fitness. I summited from the parking in 3 hours, however I’m far fitter than 99% of people you’ll see climbing Hood. Most people probably take 4-5 hours from the top of the Palmer lift, 7-8 hours from the parking lot.
@@seamus.dolan98 very true! Thank you! If I ever do it, I will take palmer all the way up and then climb the rest!😂
Love the Alyeska sticker on the car!
Cool and hi😊🎉🎉🎉
Amazing bro! I'm looking to attempt The Skillet this winter...I'll be in Jackson for 2-3 months so hopefully I get a chance to ski it in good conditions safely i've been training for 6-7 months with The Skillet in mind
@@stephenclark15 rad man, yeah the Skillet is a must-ski line for any passionate backcountry skier. Be very aware of the avalanche conditions before attempting though. I’d say March is the best month to attempt it, weak layers in the snowpack should have healed by then and you can still ski cold powder.
@ yea Im gonna wait until the melt freeze cycle starts so most likely in mid March or late March
@ March is a snowy month, I wouldn’t count on a true melt-freeze cycle then. You’re better off going for it right after a moderate storm, give it one clear day to settle, attempt the second clear day after a storm(assuming temps stay cold, don’t attempt it temps skyrocket after a storm)
@ thank you for the advice I really appreciate it.
What the!!? What's your bw?
At the time of this lift, around 170lb
This is incredible, can you ski all the way down? Where does it stop?
we skied to the bottom of the glacier at about 16,400'/5000m
It was not good? That snow looks and sounds fantastic at the top. Nice and grippy, no ice, reminds me of how Great Scott can be at Snowbird. But if you’re hugging the mountain on that uphill ski, you’re gonna slide it all the way down.
There's a difference between skiing hard pack on Great Scott(about 35-38 degrees) and skiing hardpack in a 50 degree no-fall zone couloir.
@@seamus.dolan98 right, the 50+ degree is better.
@@tonybrown9726 said no one who has ever skied a 50+ degree line in hardpack conditions
@ wouldn’t say it if I hadn’t done it. Plenty of others who have would also agree.
@@tonybrown9726 lol ok bud
I am older. Why do people do scary stuff like this?
@@cheers70 because it’s fun to get a little scared
Yikes: best snow conditions imaginable (almost) for the 2023/24 season. Wow, fun! I see that thing every day from the hiway, will someday ski it (or at least the bottom half, lol)
Well done on skiing such an extreme line! This brings up the assessment people make of the steepness of a line which is often over-estimated, probably a good thing. However, in this case , I think you are being accurate. According to the topo map, which I could only get on my screen so not highly accurate, and using the inverse tan of the rise over the run this slope is about 57 degrees. it is described at about 60 degrees in a guide book. If you are about 185 cms tall and can touch the slope with your fingertips sticking your 78 cms out at a right angle, this is about 67 degrees. If you can touch it with the tip of your pole this would be about 45 degrees, depending on how tall you are. Did you try doing this? I got the impression lower down if you did this you could probably touch the slope with your arm and a bit of the pole extended. Say you are 185 cms tall and your arm and hand is 80 cms plus 30 cms of pole, this would give an ( upside down) rise over run of 185/110 which is the inverse tan of about 60 degrees. Anyway this was clearly fudgin’ steep so again, well done. It must be hard to hold an edge on anything steeper.
@@Skicloud1888 thanks. The top panel on the skiers left side of the line was close to 60 degrees, but I didn’t try to make turns on that in such firm conditions. I’d say the fall line was about 50 degrees, but not steeper than that. I find that anything over 50 degrees jump turns get very difficult in such firm snow, below that not so much. I’d say this line is a bit overhyped in how it’s described as being so extreme, it’s just a steep couloir lol
Where you at? BCC?
That looks amazing on good snow, but in those conditions.... why???
Nevermind I just read about the avi stuff, you go when you gotta go. good work!
The "This is so fun, damn" under the breath at 6:00 got me 😂. Looked like a great run
Wow, I have corn-envy. I wish I could have skied that.
Too full of fear to actually do this, lets simulate it instead...

Hey that rope on the belly roll section was that left there on the mountain fixed in or was the one dude using it. How scary is the belly roll and the sections after it. This climb looks fucking awesome!

What waterfall was that and how can I get to it?? I’m in the park until November. Please I want to see it.
Hike up to Garnet Meadows in Garnet Canyon on the way to the Grand, Middle, and South Teton. The waterfall is just above the meadows. It is about 5 miles and 2500’ of elevation gain from the parking lot at Lupine Meadows.
Think this line is still skiable in July? Awesome vid.
@@LivinEpic maybe during a big snow year, but keep in mind the upper mountain develops penitentes later in the summer. The best time to go for this line is 1ish week after a storm in May or June

Nice attempt on Antisana, especially given the conditions! Did you cross the crux of huge crevasses around 5400 m. or did you follow a different route? I climbed and skied Antisana (unfortunately no summit either) in December 2022 and it looked completely different. It could be due to the conditions but hard to imagine since the difference is really huge.
Yes we navigated a very intense crevasse field. Ecuador had a very long dry spell leading up to our attempt so the mountain was in rotten condition:(
Excuse me, I must clean here.
Now try this on an old pair of straight GS skis like we did back when. THAT was deep! oh, and breath into your jacket to avoid the frosties!
