Hello Lucien, Thank you for watching and taking the time to share your opinion. Although I am not sure how you came to the assumptions you did. First, I have been a bird Mom for more than 50 years. Mostly Amazons, African Greys, and breeding and hand raising cockatiels. So saying that I speak from the voice of extensive experience. Now to address your assumptions and opinions. Dandy chose this cage. When his old cage began show it's wear, I had three which he was free to choose from when he wanted to bed down for the night. In your opinion he doesn't sound cheerful to you. Not sure how you decide if a bird sounds cheerful, any bird that is singing and not squawking is either happy or voicing it's own opinion. He climbs inside that cage just fine. How do you think he got so near the top in the first place? How did you come to the assumption that he is not out of his cage during the day? See that black thing on the door to his cage? That is a latch that keeps the door open. When I am at home he is free to go in and out as he pleases. He spends his time either out of his cage in the backroom or I bring him into the main living area where he has a playground and spends time there. You are correct that cockatiels are social. BUT if they are associating with other cockatiels they will become anti-social to humans and bond with a mate for life. I do not want to breed cockatiels at this time. Dandy has been my friend and companion for more than 13 years, since he was three months old. Weather permitting he goes for rides in the car and loves going on road trips. After doing that video inside the U-Haul, it seems this microphone picks up a lot more sound.

@desertrestnv Yeah, but I was watching your video of you driving a truck up to DesertRest, and could barely hear you. What happened there?

@@GBear Not really sure. the microphone was pointing away from me. Also that trucks tires were really loud. Could have been road noise. I had to turn the radio up real loud to hear it.

@desertrestnv Yeah, newer phones have noise canceling mikes. The tires noise shut it down.

Something was weird with the internet last night into this morning. I had lots of trouble watching Amazon Prime and Netflix last night. Sorry you had trouble. The dragons and the bears must be watching again.

@@desertrestnv Sherry, if you are getting a big ole solar panel/battery combo, keep us posted because I know power is limited when you go that route. My tiny Jackery 280v runs a string of tiny lights for about an hour. 🤔 lol

@@retirementbootcampoff-grid237 @GBear has been working with me for the past year on the solar. Things change so fast right now that I'm taking my time. I have bought 2 of the WattCycle 12v 100Ah batteries. But now am leaning towards a Jackery type 3500W to be able to run some AC in one of the trailers. I will use solar panels with backup charging options similar to GBears setup . I plan on posting a video regarding my power choices soon.

@@desertrestnv If you don't have a hot, hot summer up there in NV, have you considered a 12 volt fan, or a fan for USB port? Pretty sure they use less power than an AC unit. Hmm...

@@retirementbootcampoff-grid237 I have thought of using a fan. That will work until about mid-July. This last summer showed me that there will be a few weeks that, until I get them under a car port type structure, the trailers will be too hot from about 4 PM until sundown. Once the sun goes down the temps cool super fast. I slept very well. One trailer already has an efficient window AC unit. I found a super efficient portable swamp cooler that will work with the solar and generator power as well.

Ok, one step forward and one step back! Got up and checked the weather and found the pass was chains only. So I cancelled the UHaul for today. The storage space will have to be paid again for one more month in Sacramento. BooHoo

@desertrestnv Sorry to hear, but at least you didn't have a loaded trailer stuck at the bottom of the hill overnight in a snow storm. Stay safe.

Yup, the weather report is no rain for the next 2 weeks. We will see what or if that changes.
