I always have a deep breath when i see this. I did in top gun and i did this time and the last time i saw this vid. A pilot already has to endure serious g force to pull such maneuvers off. And burning to death in a heap of metal miles high is a real thought they have to wrestle with. Not far off from tank crews, good people are sent into metal boxes to possibly perish in war. Its sad.
While yes the F22 is a dominating fighter with like 40 to one kill ratio in war game exercises... This kind of maneuver is only for air shows and bleeding off airspeed for landings. In a real dog fight you lose too much energy and airspeed and put yourself at a disadvantage. Flying slow like this at the bottom of the V-G curve (flight envelope) puts you at a disadvantage. If you retain your energy and try this maneuver while at the top of the envelope you will overstress the airframe and break something. The F22s strength lies in its stealth capability, sensor suit and high stop speed.
This wasn't that impressive. At least it isn't now, but it was then. As much as the F-35 is Congress giving money to their friends, it really is an impressive plane. It can do most of the things the F-22 can do, and it does them without thrust vectoring capabilities. Many that were impossible without thrust vectoring before the F-35.
You are using the word "rare" in a manner that is unfamiliar to me. The Raptor performs those maneuvers in basically every airshow it performs in. Clickbait gets a dislike from me.
I’ve read in multiple articles that there are maneuvers that the F22 isn’t allowed to do at air shows or to be viewed by the general public. No idea if that’s true.
All is good for such insane maneuvers until engines/thrust doesn't kick in for whatever reason at the exact needed moment. Engineering marvel none the less.
Pilots who fly this plane are restricted to a certain amount of what they can do with it. The US military is pretty much hiding what this planes full potential can reach, the pilots can't even use its full potential in actual dogfights either. The US doesn't give the F-22 away at all because of its classified maneuverability or anything else it can do that hasn't been shown to public eye.
When you have a higher thrust than weight ratio it looks like the plane needs more thrust and propulsion to move the aircraft like that and it’s breaking the laws of physics, but when the thrust is higher than the weight, the aircraft can do anything, combined with two dimensional thrust vectoring moving the thrust allows the plane to manoeuvre the nose excellently. The F-22s flat design and vertical stabilisers are also extremely well designed and co-ordinated for agility and manuverability, as you can see when the vertical stabilisers are moving it’s not just the aerodynamics but the thrust changing it’s direction in favor of where the raptor is going and pointing it’s nose at without any limitations because it’s higher than the weight of the aircraft.
There's nothing rare about this.
those look so badass. Imagine the fact that its a maneuver used in dogfighting. Lmao
The russians easily had more maneuverable fighters until the F-22 was made , the things a fucking UFO.
Lol Man. F22 are just absolutely insane… how can you not love them?
That falling leaf was top class. You started it before it was even supposed to start!
The greater the thrust.......

The Sukhoi looks more elegant and beautiful doing Cobra
I'm gonna put the brakes on and he'll fly right by.
Вот это можно назвать высшим пилотажем. Неплохо.
That was 13 years ago. SU 57, J20, J10C can perform much much more spectacular.
bro thought he was playing ace combat
UFO watching from a distance: NOOB 😅 Jokes aside, this looks epic 💯

Man these balloon poppers are the real deal
Use drones, this is a waste of money.
Amazing what we can achieve to kill ourselves
I'm ok with the military industrial complex now. They've convinced me.
The fact that its a 13 year old video ...amaze me Even after 13 years f-22 raptor still the best
not actually that rare. At least, they did this in every airshow at Andrew's Air Force Base.
Wings totally stalled? Plane basically stopped in the air? F22: Not a problem.
Imagine showing that to people a hundred years ago. At this stage the engineers are just dfucking around with gravity...

Needs loud music and an announcer screaming anecdotes.

f22 isnt been upgraded with a new aircraft in 14+ years?? why

Can't wait to do this in warthunder
The falling leaf is my favorite maneuver from the raptor
That thing doesn't obey the laws of physics at all
The sun reflecting off the top of the F-22 is a thing of beauty.
No way that SU57 may perform better ...
...And that's just in valet mode, wait till the pilot puts in the other key.
Humans are amazing. It's a damn shame it's for war. Wish I could create a utopia where they're just for fun and a celebration of human ingenuity.
The funny thing about best plane ever is how it's best kills are balloons in real life lol

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
This is a 13 yr old video. I am wondering what technology they might already be having now in 2023...
Every time I’ve seen a Raptor demonstration they’ve done this, and it’s the only thing at an air show that makes me nervous for a pilot.
TNX. ANYWAYS . PERSONAL PLEDGE !
RENDEZOOK? HAHAHAHAHA
Things got alien tattoos all over....that aint air force
Mediocre
I feel pretty lucky to be able to comprehend how amazing this is. A lot of people I try to show just think it's another fighter jet.
Hit the brakes and he'll fly right by
Why can’t it be this person who videos bigfoot 😂
а нам говорят что ток русские так умеют
Very impressive, but will it serve long enough to see a dogfight?
