I do agree. I know people who have fled from Ukraine due to the recent Russian invasion. They are working locally and becoming active members of our community. I do not understand why Ukrainians have this permission when people fleeing conflict in other countries are denied the right to work here.

The shameful thing about this other than the vulnerability of the residents of course is Kirklees should be 'Loud & Proud' & actually shouting from the hill tops that they are fully supporting the shining example they have helped create in caring for our older generation when they need us most. Kirklees should be proud to be setting such a high standard in care, not embarrassed & seeking closure. Please don't give up on a model that should actually be expanded within society. I'm sure, as with any 'business' model, there are savings & efficiencies to be looked at: fee's etc... Maybe look at the hospice model & all the wonderful voluntary involvement that goes on. There is always a way. If we are all fortunate enough to live a long life it's something an increasing number of us all face. Dignity & caring for loved ones as we know we should is a responsibility all of us share. We trust you Kirklees on our behalf to create, support & cherish this.
