Mendelssohn: Piano Trio No. 1—Score Video
Felix Mendelssohn's first piano trio in D minor was completed in mid-1839, after having the piano part be overhauled after the feedback of composer Ferdinand Hiller. The composition, for piano, violin and cello, is in four movements and is oft considered one of Mendelssohn's greatest chamber works. Starting out firmly in minor, the work gradually lightens, despite moments of melancholy and capriciousness, ending in D major after an otherwise generally moody fourth movement.
