      Nope, both spelling and pronounciation are correct. It's the stuff used with violin bows to give them more purchase on the strings (friction). Resin is the stuff you pour on your garage floor when you want an new surface, or the epoxy like substance you cure with a black light.

    With the down eye, it can run upside down. The wide gape of the hook as shown can puncture the eye or brain of the fish when this happens. And yes, fish do in fact feel pain just as we do.

    why ! double wing ? it's hard enough to tie down one pair of mallard wings.

    • @traditionalfliesanddries5962
      @traditionalfliesanddries5962 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah. Some were done that way in the Catskills, possibly to make them more durable I don't know. I never saw any doubled wings where I grew up in the Adirondacks in the '60s. Perhaps they were only tied as special requests. But they were done, regardless of the reason. They aren't really appreciably harder, just the initial placement on the hook is tougher. You'll get some splitting but most of the time you can marry the splits back.

    • @themazamen
      @themazamen 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think what makes double quill wings more difficult is that to tie them right, you shouldn't be able to tell that it's a double quill when you look at it. The trick i was taught at the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild was to place a quill section with deeper curvature on the inside. This way it presses on the outside quill.
