Discussing DOPAMINE with Philip Strand of NORMANDIE

Discussing DOPAMINE with Philip Strand of NORMANDIE
It’s one of those songs that really grows on you after 2 or 3 listens. It’s a very layered piece with great structure and balance. It’s a prime example of everything (no pun intended) working in harmony,I particularly like the added layers as it builds up to the crescendo. I believe this song won’t age,it will be as listenable in 30 or 100 years as it is now. I even like the simple video,it complements the song very well. Not sure what the goat is about,it probably just wandered along to see what was going on? 😄
The lyrics and the video all made me cry how shitty we are as human beings.
dustin did say on twitter that the ai art is actually from paid artists that willingly put their art into an ai generator to generate ai slop specifically for this video.
Awesome commentary and reaction! Hard to find others who look into the deeper meaning of this song!
That's one of the main resaon why I listen to Starset...I can't be the only one
I do think the AI video was done for a sense of irony. They made it look "bad" on purpose, trying to show just how terrible replacing everything with AI would be.
It's honestly pretty hard to watch for me personally very grotesque
Love the song and video. Excited for the new album
Yeah I think the whole vibe of the new album will be anti AI
They better be doing more of those deep vocals in future tracks. “Down down down, it’s a race to the bottom” Sounds so satisfying.
YES. and the deftness type scream in the bridge is something I hope for more of
It's actually talking about his previous 6 year toxic and abusive relationship. Songs like House on Sand, If It Doesn't Hurt, freefall and Blame It on the Drugs, for instance, all talk about Johnny's story of how it took him so long to break that relationship. That's what he means by STUCK, he means stuck in a toxic unhealthy relationship. It's his personal story.
Thanks for the additional info, I wasn't fully aware of his personal situation
Empire of the sun truly makes music forged in heaven
Empty their most recent song is super powerful!
Super excited for them to release the upcoming EP
@AudioAutopsy1 I don't really understand why they are releasing it right now as Blake and Joey are about to tour with PopEvil but I'm alway excited for new music from my buddies.
Awesome reaction and review man thank you. I know Nothing More would appreciate it! The whole album is pretty amazing front to back as well 🔥
You killed it on this one, sir.
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my review! Really enjoyed your contributions to this track.
Nice video, your musical analysis is fantastic
Thank you very much!
I love Empire of the Sun. I have a very busy work schedule everyday, and I always take a break to listen to their amazing hits to perk me up for the rest of the day. Absolutely love Alive, Cherry Blossom, We are the People, Changes etc.etc. etc
This song is a shoe-in to be on the radio in GTA 6
Goddamn better be
Frank is criminally under rated then again most of the best are. Loved the analysis and that you took the time to do a little background, being from the states I always wondered how big his reach was at home.
My guy is yappin' but he speaks truth. The only Goliath here is Audio Autopsy!
I would be interested in a smashed to Pieces starset song
You desur:e way more than 100 veiws
I really like this song. Thank you for your reaction!
Could you check out Band Maid ‘Alone’ please? Band Maid is an all female Japanese band that dresses up as cafe maids and kick ass! 🍺😆These ladies are no joke and have a huge YT fan base so expect a lot of company if you react to them (do your research). Anyways could you also give me a shoutout for introducing them to you? 🍺😁🤘🏻
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll be sure to check them out!
@@AudioAutopsy1 Thanks! 🍺😁
Enjoyed your reaction! Agree with your comments. This is a fun song and I love fun Ronnie!!
Thank you very much!
Nice review! Very thorough and insightful. 👍👍
Thank you very much!
It is weird having zero comments !
They are always fun and groovy.
This song was great live but would have been cooler if David could have been there.
Your insights and reviews to all those music videos and songs are so good and I enjoy every single one of it. Thank you so much for that!! I've found you through the review of "Angel Song" by Nothing More yesterday and watched many more reviews the past hours. You give so much love to every single song you review and I love it so so much. The Craving is such a vulnerable song in my opinion and I love Tyler Joseph for those songs that are more chill and personal. Both versions are amazing yet they have a really different vibe what I love. I'm very excited to see what songs or albums you review.
Thank you very much for the kind words, much appreciated!
Dustin has already Clarified things up in his Instagram's personal account , a lot of people were understandably concerned that this would be starset's last album. To be fair, the title "the final chapter" and "it begins. and it ends. now. " is quite confusing. anyway, to be short, starset is not ending now, nor is it any time soon. I Dustin's own words "people were concerned that this tour title meant the end of STARSET. Quite the contrary. Much like the new years eve, the upcoming tour represents the climactic conclusion of the ongoing era. The last and best time to experience it, understand it, and be immersed in it before we move on. And much like the new years day tomorrow, the next chapter will begin with things being similar but different. A new season for new and grand things. A common Proclamation is that "the greatest days are ahead". So much so that it can feel like a hollow platitude, but for this project I honestly believe it to be the truth."
They have a music video with an intro to this track, kinda like "Ocean Floor" plays at the beginning of the video for "This is the Time". Its not make or break, but I think it really adds to the experience. Just a thought for if you want to check it out.
RM leader of BTS just released a beautiful and indie pop song called Come Back To Me, its a pre-release song for his new 11-track alternative genre album out tomorrow 24 May , hope you give "Come Back To Me" a listen and tomorrow's album launch will have the title track called LOST! . The teaser is so intriguing, and the album called "Right Place Wrong Person" has 7 out of 11 tracks rated Explicit and not for korean show broadcast. RM had said last year in his live that this album will be raw and honest , so we are all sat to listen to what he wants to say/rap/sing. :) There is also collabs with Little Simz and Moses Sumney for 2 songs inhis new album, hope you can give it a listen , thank you :)
i find the love songs harder to connect to out of their catalogue but i am really enjoying the chill vibes of this so far and the story of the video is such a clear and simple metaphor for the process of making musc.
They don't have a bad song here for your twenty one pilots reactions God bless you
Loved your analysis and the reaction! Tyler has sung the Jenna version live in the past couple of small shows and it is really different!! Clancy is almost here and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it.
My favorite band 😍🤘🏼🔥
This is an amazing single - a rock beat and wonderful lyrics.
honestly, straight from the heart is probably one of the best tracks they have had in a while. every cd post-mothership has felt formulaic. speed demon felt like tilian could have been there, but hearing andrew use more of his voice in the ladder is a lot better.
❤love the Empire❤❤
You offer great perspective and analysis in both the music and the lyrics. Nothing More just continuously puts out such passionate and deep lyrical content and is one of the most talented bands musically. They are consistent across all albums which is also rare. Thanks for your content!
Thank you very much!
Re: the aggression JK shows... a good read on that may just be that IT is what he needed to move to the point of acceptance. it wasn't as simple as a betrayal based on not being faithful, it was a TOTAL betrayal, because once she moved on she betrayed him to their kids and to the public, also to the courts when she and her new guy tried to pass off some fake affadavits allegedly signed by their kids, saying that he, JH, abused them. sorry, it ain't as simple as WANTING to accept... and i can think of no more useful, therapeutic, and SAFE as writing songs about it. it takes as long as it takes to move on...
Great reaction loved this 👏
Thank you!
Damn this was nice, didn’t know empire of the sun was making music again
loved the reaction im so happy you enjoyed this song when they announced changes i set notifications on and i got so emotional when they dropped changes cause they have done a lot for me with their music i owe them a debt i cannot repay i just love them so much i can feel myself getting emotional now talking about it much love man
i would like to say that i became a fan of them during the Ice on the dune album and ive been listening to them since um their music helped me get through school their music has uh also helped me get through the darkest times of my life they have always brought me joy happiness satisfaction and i didnt feel down all the time cause the lifted me up and space man i think maybe a reference to Ace Frehley if you know who he is also i think Luke Steele looks better with his beard what do you think
i was there for the Premier i love the song so fuckin much first changes now this OMFG IM SO FUCKIN HAPPY THEY ARE BACK MAKING MUSIC I NEED MORE now to see your reaction
I will never understand how empire of the sun aren’t much more mainstream. They’re phenomenal
i've been playing this song non stop since i heard it. Great to hear your reaction and review on it!!
Thank you!
In the period of their first two albums, Mike (the singer and bassist) was a heavy alcoholic and smoker, and the music reflected that - heavy and raw, typically about love going wrong. After How Did We Get So Dark, Mike ditched alcohol and underwent massive change. This is seen in Typhoons, where the music is more expermental, and is about Mike's struggles with alcohol and drugs. Back To The Water Below carries this on, especially Pull Me Through. I think it's more about Mike's struggle than anything, particularly when you see the big guy coming to get the car door open. He bares some resemblance to Ben (the drummer), trying to help him break free of his depression. Absolutely love this song and great analysis 👍
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the additional information.
Great review! You talk about music in a very straightforward and clear way. Well done 👍 I love this album too. The hooks and lyrics are out of this world. Such a fun album to be alive with 🎉
Thanks so much!
Nice review, I loved the theming behind this album and love to see the explanation behind the lyrics!
Thank you kindly!
Nice! This is one of my favs of theirs. I’ve always been a fan of punk, of idles, of massive attack and trip hop so this is so far up my alley. Your summation was great. Spread positivity. Smile. Do only good. Love is the thing.
Thank you very much!
