Thanks but just wondering...does your rcn2 remote need to be connected to your phones internet to get a more accurate map reading for the drones way point?
@Skybar23 It's a while since I've had that remote so I'm not 100% sure how they work as a pairing. But if you are at home I'd just use your WiFi or if out and about then I always put my mobile into hot-spot mode. I'd be interested to know myself.
Is there anyway you can plan the way points using a map on the rcn2 while the drone is on the ground?
@Skybar23 Yes you do it on your phone or tab in the fly app. Here's another video I did. Ask if you want more info, questions are always appreciated. th-cam.com/video/kp07cdj3zL4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dbaOshDY_mwtYaZ-

Thanks Jack. I'd love to come back in spring when the trees come into bloom.
Video was great. The insipid music was a huge distraction.
@claudecjs Glad you enjoyed the video. I always welcome feedback, it helps me to improve each time.
Nice video, Karl. Passed this a lot on the M61 but your close ups of the top statue really bring it to life. Brilliant 😊
Thank you. I'd imagine it will look fantastic in the spring sunshine with the trees in blossom.
Does the drone need to be switched on when doing these ? thanks for making it look so easy
No, if you open the app at the home screen or if you have the built in screen turn it on and on the bottom right hit "Connect to Aircraft" then top right hit "Camera View" then once on the fly screen hit the wiggly lines on the left to start the waypoints. I had my drone on for this video with the camera pointing at my TV screen just for a bit of background interest. Thanks for your kind comments. Most of my tutorials I do in one take so they're not necessarily slick but I aim to make them realistic and how any of us would struggle to get to grips with things. That was the first time I ever did it too.
What an amazing structure. Awesome video! 👏 I'm going to visit this beauty.
@karpinski65 It really is a stunning video! It looks beautiful. I'll get over on a nice warm day and try and capture the sunrise/sunset. I love these structures. They're amazing to see across the landscape! You really captured it well mate! 👍👍
@flyDJIuk Just realised that info I gave you was regarding the Mormon Temple. 🫣 The viaduct is set between lots of other places to stop and send your drone. Right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, not far from the Lakes and Forest of Bowland too. If you're coming in from Ingleton you can stop at the side of the road and get one side where the sun is behind you. Then there is proper parking really close to the Viaduct to get the other side.
@karpinski65 Fantastic! Thanks for this. I'm shortlisting places I want to visit and fly. This is at the top of the list!! 👍👍
@flyDJIuk High praise, really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I agree (sorry for being big-headed 🤣) it turned out really well from what I was hoping to achieve. However I'd planned the train times going both ways then nearly missed it as I was stood under the viaduct and couldn't see it! It'd be nice to plan for when the steam trains go over.
@flyDJIuk Where do you live? I'm too at the point I'm looking for new fly sites I'll have a look at your previous flights.
440 yds. Long and round 100' high.
@nickdavies5023 I prefer the metric measurements (copied from Wikipedia). They make more sense to me than 16 oz = 1 pound, 14 pounds = 1 stone and 36 inches = 1 yard and 2 yards = 1 fathom etc. 😉🤣
I prefer imperial as I was brought up on it. I find metric difficult to visualise.
@nickdavies8197 Me too, brought up with pre-decimal coins, taught English in ITA, Imperial weights and measures then re-learned them all over again. Flying a drone is easier to understand in metres, that said when you deal with Air Traffic Control they still deal in feet. We measure distances in miles, beer in pints, petrol in litres, weight in stones and pounds. Makes no sense! 😉
That's why I'm fully imperial such as the height of Whernside being 2415' the highest of the west Riding Peaks.
At last ! A drone shot that transforms the landscape. Genius !
I'll take that, thank you. 🤗
Lovely video. New sub for you.
Thank you. Always great to get such positive feedback from a fellow drone pilot. 😎👍

@JulietteWGregson Thanks Juliette. 😘
Stunning, Karl. Well shot as usual. Nice one.
@pedalsandpropellers Thank you. My only regret was not getting the train crossing right over. The ground was very icy and I couldn't risk getting too far out for a better view. Just been viewing your channel, you've given me inspiration before and so it seems a trip south and east to Wigan and Chorley which has some really interesting fly spots. 😎
Keep meaning to visit !
It was really busy with the kids still being off school, lots of dog walkers too. So I kept my drone at a distance. There was some idiot with a Neo flying at full speed round both towers, very low. God them things are loud! I waited until their battery ran out (about 10 minutes) before I put mine up. The car park I linked is a good place to get to the Pigeon Tower the quickest; you go up to the bridge I linked (Lever's) on a straight, wide, gently sloping gravel path. When you get to the bridge you go round the side, climb some steps and cross over it then it's several sets of steps all the way up. I of course went the long way! 🫣🤣 I may be meeting a chap I am friendly with on the drone forums there next week. He lives in Horwich. I also have a friend from Blackpool who I met on the groups who I've been out with. He has a Mini 4 Pro and a Neo and a big dog! If you want to meet up let me know.
@ cunning plan !
Another good one, Karl.
You're too kind. 🤗😎👍
Now I have a better understanding of the 10.7 km Kilometrage greatest hits flight distance in a circling pattern. Thanks again.
What does the Longest Kilometrage of 10,683m represent?
Hi Ken, this was a test to see how far the drone would fly using 1 battery from 100% to zero to see how far it would fly on a single charge. The result was that it managed 10,683m, or nearly 10.7km, equivalent to 6.6 miles.
@@karpinski65 Impressive. Was this a round trip flight done within the flight time allowed using one battery?
Indeed sir. Yes it is impressive, yes just one battery, I sent it up, set it to circle and when the battery was nearly done it automatically returns home.
That would average out to over 32 mph for the distance vs time. A much safer way to test the distance capability of the battery without risking the straight line distance away from the home point or signal strength of the controller. Thank you for taking your time to do this and share it with us.
Just noticed that you commented on my other video (this one). This was just a test to see how long the drone would stay airborne on one battery. The result was around 24.5 minutes but it didn't fly very far at all. You can see the other video in the description of the 10.7km flight. That graphic is a greatest hits sheet if you will, it highlights everything about all flights combined. So fastest, furthest, highest etc. Sorry for any confusion. And thanks for the comments and interest.
Another interesting upload, Karl. Thanks 👍
Thank you. 😎
Interesting real world result 😮
A way short of the claimed.
Cool demo, brother... I have noticed a lot lately at least on the quick shots, the plus sign on the objects is really not sensitive... I have to tap it a couple times to get it to respond. It's not a huge deal of course, especially since you still have the option to draw a box around the subject... Thanks so much for sharing, buddy.. God bless!
Thank you. 🤗 Yes it's fiddly especially if you have sausage fingers or lack in dexterity. I do like having the Active Track on screen though.
Excellent video !

@@anominus6118 Thank you so much. There is no colour adjustment at all, just the beauty of the beach and the city. ❤️
I have a couple choices use Dlog colour correct and add a lut. Option 2 is use HLG and just add a lut. The Dlog is only slightly better.
Nice to hear your thoughts. I'm still an amateur using colour correction and grading. The biggest gains for me I've found is using the DJI LUT on all formats when it's washed out and using a ND64 filter in bright sunshine. I know some purists and experts would have me crucified for saying/doing that but I like the results.

@designsinair Thank you for the feedback. Yes they were so unique and interesting. 😎👍
I don't know with recent Dji models, but to do a precision landing with Mavic 2, you have to pause a few seconds at 3 ft and 25 ft when taking off. It works. You can probably google that.
@max120m I've found that after recent updates the home point randomly updates. That can certainly throw it out of synch when trying to land accurately. I've had trouble with it moving on final descent for some reason?
@@karpinski65 That's usually the wind throwing it off at the end of landing. When it has started to land (gimbal does to horisontal), no more adjustment takes place. So it seems to me.
Cracking video! 🎉

@@KarlKarpinski Thanks for the positive feedback.
Thanks for the video. I'm still a bit scared to use the active track in a less open environment. I've seen some videos where it doesn't see trees, especially in fall when the leaves are gone.
You are right. They don't see trees at all well. You are best to scope the area first to make sure your drone has a clear path. Also keep an eye on it as it will do it's own thing and just head straight to the leafless trees. Make sure you have it in sight and your finger on the pause button to stop it dead. Thanks for the comments. 😎👍 Just looked at your videos. Some beautiful windmills. I've flown a few on my channel. Where I live in NW England we have a lot of (different windmills).
@karpinski65 Yes, I started with windmills. I only recently found the POI mode, so back then I had to do the turn manually lol. So much easier now.

New to drone video and photography. What editing software are you using? Would you recommend it to someone like myself who is new and no experience or ia there a different software you would recommend to start with? Thank you
Hi Broncodude, I used Capcut for this. It's free and it's quite easy to use so I'd definitely recommend. You can go pro on it for a subscription, I tried it but the free is fine. There are a ton of tutorials on TH-cam if you get stuck. The best out there is 'Da Vinci Resolve' also free but it is very complicated. I've done a couple of short videos but I keep pressing buttons I shouldn't and menus pop up I didn't want and stuff disappears! I will probably get round to teaching myself how to use it some time.
