An Unpopular Truth: Christians subconsciously worship Satan unknowingly.

I overstood the point. Point it out but, not over bearing.

There's a LOT I could say about this. I'm a 15-year, 3x deployed veteran transitioning out of the military because of my growing conviction said career is incompatible with following Christ. I joined the military largely influenced by Alvin York, a pacifist who was drafted into the Army in support of WW1. After his application for conscientious objector was denied, he was persuaded by his commander, his reading of a US History book, and Matthew 22:21 to withdraw his appeal. He later went on to become the most decorated hero of the war. Needless to say, my thinking has shifted dramatically over the years since. I appreciate your brief synopsis on this, especially your distinction between being non-violent, and passive. I read a book last year called Civil Resistance by Erica Chenoweth which chronicled the past hundred years of struggles, and it broke them down by levels of violence, then again by measures of success. Those movements that were violent were actually half as likely to be successful than those more creative. And YES! There is a huge problem with our priorities when 54% of our taxes go to military expenditures, but schools are underfunded. I am convinced if military weapons manufacturing ended today, where I live in Fort Worth would suffer an unprecedented economic depression; and that's only one city. I'd be interested to hear more about these pastors in Ukraine practicing non-violence. I follow Munther Isaac and others in Palestine and loved the visual they created with Jesus under the rubble a few months ago, but I am less familiar with the world of Christianity in eastern Europe. Side note: I'm a student at Dallas Seminary and wrote my capstone research paper on the question of Christians in violence. I went to the campus library and searched for, but failed to find a primary source for the Tertullian quote you referenced. I've seen in referenced many times elsewhere, but if you know where, I'd love to see the broader context. I found many other quotes by him and others who were opposed to violence. FTR, I also spent a lot of time searching for church fathers support for violence. The earliest I could find was a vague reference by Ambrose, and of course, I'm sure you're familiar with Augustine on this topic.

James taught true religion undefiled before God is this, to visit the orphan and the widow etc. Charity is true religion. But preachers teach the gospel for profit in violation of Paul's instruction. And the church that give more charity than all the other churches on earth, is the church of Jesus Christ. The Mormons do more for the world than any other denomination. And they don't have a paid clergy. It's run by volunteers.
