North Wilkesboro is born again in the present day. Martinsville is always going to be my favorite short track. I put Bristol a close second. Wilkesboro is a top three favorite for me for sure.

thats really cold throwing pressley out of the race, running 7th and top 10 points, barrier was lap car racing him really dirty. i seen so much worse than that and they did nothing.

Milestone win achieved by a legend! Next time that someone would do that feat would be Rusty Wallace in the 2000 Food City 500 at Bristol, and a few weeks after Rusty, Jeff Gordon would do it at Talladega.

I knew Fred. Nice guy. He lived about a half mile from my shop. He came to my place occasionally. Fred gave me his signed book of Doug Wolfgang to read. Fred was an icon here in Central Pa..Fred was definitely a true outlaw.

a couple of thoughts. one if i'm not missing someone, i count 5 drivers that never won in any of the top 3 series of nascar. (either prior to this or in future) that's it. i've got means, stricklin, dallenbach, schacht and bailey. think about that in the 31 seasons since then 35 out of 40 drivers would find victory lane at some point in nascar's top 3 series or have already. purvis would join the club 2 years later, musgrave in trucks, think rest were eventually except kenny wallace his were all in busch. even in start and park era i'm not sure u could find that many. other thought. purvis seemed to be a fast fill in in the 4, but he drove most of the raes for rest of year as the others were busch full time guys not wanting to give up their eligibility for the future (as back then it was no more than 5 starts in any given season). so a couple of questions, how'd purvis get the ride so quick i mean he wasn't even full time racing anywheres, just racing here and here for finch. second was he ever considrered for the 4 car full time in 94? i mean kodak might have had interest given they sponsored him some in busch in 94. unless that was just a thank you for last year hears some money go have some fun. i mean at this point this is days after ernie got his release so nothing was announced, so i'm assuming this was at least a try out for the future. they didn't run that well rest of year and bottom fell out in the owners points, (like slipped out of top 10 down to like 15th or worse.) but when u got a bunch of rookies not sure u can really say "you didn't do enough to earn this ride" i mean if you're going to just do that why just put rookies in the rest of the year. heck youcould have put speed in for a few races and got at least as good of results. just was curioius. i still consider the 92-96 era of cup the greatest what if era. between who was rick hendrick watching for when he noticed jeff gordon, davey and alan dieing, geoff buying the 7, ernie ending up in the 28 (then getting hurt a year later which according to mcreynolds might not have happened with davey in car as they'd run practices different including cool down laps). i count at least 8-12 rides that effected especially if u include busch series rides.

i forgot this was a year where u had 4 different winners in the winston million era. is that the only time that ever happened? just the year before davey had a shot and if not for rain might have got it, 90 i think might have had 3 out of 4 since cope won the daytona 500 but did any other year have all 4 be different guys win them?

I was in Turn 1 for this race. My only race for a Top-tier NASCAR series. Thanks for uploading.

I love these older races but they also depress me. Davey Allison was killed in a helicopter crash at Talladega twelve days prior to this race. Alan Kulwucki died in a plane crash two months prior and Neil Bonnett would be killed about seven months later. NASCAR was definitely different because of these losses.

1:58:14 - 1:59:10 You can really see the EMTs sense of urgency for Stanley Smith. You can also see what looks like some crew members and family who are visually very distressed. Glad he survived to live a full life. RIP Stanley Smith.

What an upload! First race at this track since 2004, even though this would be the last time the East series would run at this track. On a personal note, I've passed this track many times throughout the mid-2000's. Still have never been to the track, at least in the grandstands.
