The sad thing is that it is based on real events 😢. The male sang to the female that never arrived. It is very sad to know how much damage humans can do not only with this bird, but with the species that appeared in the animation, the dodo, the quagga, etc.

Humanity united in our grief because we feel for another living being who is truly and profoundly alone is such a bittersweet experience. It is incredibly sad to know how shattered the heart must have been of the male bird to sing a song and getting no reply to, for the bird to realize he is completely and utterly alone in this whole wide world. And yet to know that so many other living beings grieve with the bird that has long passed shows that humans are as connected to anything else living as we try to deny it with technological advancement. Our grief means that we are eternal and that none of us it truly gone.
