Very helpful and pretty, too. Thank you!
@@Momcat6 happy that you like it!
My outside line of my buttonhole wheels keep deforming and migrating towards the center. How do I prevent this?
@@SaruCharmed this is a problem of the tension. Try to reduce the tension of the stitching.
This stitch is difficult for me. I've practiced today and am finally understanding the steps but the threads are separating and making it even more tricky when I tighten the loop. I'm going to try using thread more like yours.
@@jackiewheaton4199 try with pearl cotton first. It's easier to manage 🧵
Thank you so much for making this video! It helps me a lot ❤
@@katiecamasky9806 glad to hear that!
Using two colors is the way to go, isn't it? It really delineates the stitch. TFS!
@@rachellee.9389 yes, two colors is the best choice 👍

WHAT?!? I'm going to need to study this absolutely beautiful stitch. It's mesmerizing to look at and I'll bet it's easy once you get in the groove of doing it. TFS!
@@rachellee.9389 it's really nice looking and fun to stitch. Try it!
Very nice ❤
@@handembroiderybysam thank you!
Does the couching need to go diagonal? Is it a matter of saving yarn? I would've gone up and down if I hadn't watched your vid. TFS!
I think you can go up and down, but this diagonal method saves some thread. Also, I find that the tension is more even this way.
Great! Thank you for sharing with us!
Thank you for watching!

Me ha encantado! Manos de oro! He entendido todo! ¡ ❤! Es verdad el dicho "Un hecho vale más que mil palabras!!
Gracias!
Is this made the same as the outline stitch??
Very similar, but not the same. The difference between these stitches is the position of the working thread when you embroider. When you make a Stem stitch, keep the thread to the right, and when you make an Outline stitch - to the left side of the working direction. This video tutorial explains it better: th-cam.com/video/y_gvYJfo-c4/w-d-xo.html
That stitch looks like fun! I was smiling the whole way through. TFS!
@@rachellee.9389 thank you!
What’s whipped about this? I never heard this term before so I’m actually wondering and not being sarcastic. 😅
@@JuaniqueVerde not sure, honestly. English is not my first language, so I just use the terms from the books 🙂
Oh, that's great. My first name is Joy so I coukd easily (sorta') come up with a J and an O to spell out my name with one full half-chevron at the end. TFS!
Very nice 🤎🤎

Thank you for this video ❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
When I try doing pistil stitch it doesnt look that clean 🥹 its like when I do french knot 😭 it looks like its coming loose 😭😭😭 how do you all make clean french knots and pistils 🥹
It's all about tension-keep the winded thread in tension until the last moment so the knot is nice and compact. For more tips on French knots, watch this video - th-cam.com/video/Mij2_OLpsjM/w-d-xo.html or download my free e-book - pages.practicalembroidery.eu/5-essential-stitches
@@practicalembroidery thank you for sharing these 😊❤️
Where is it used?
Mostly in botanical embroidery, bu also for decorative borders and edges of the garments. You can add French knots or Lazy Daisies to create floral motives.
@@practicalembroidery thanks
That stitch looks like some of the gold chains one sees about. It's fascinating to look at. TFS!

Just curious, would modge podge work for this?
I think it should work. Maybe the drying time is a bit longer.
Oh, now that one is fascinating and I'm needing to study it a bit. I love the variations. TFS!
@@rachellee.9389 thank you! Yes, variations is the best part of this stitch!
Holy cats, I've been embroidering for about 55 years and I have never seen this stitch! Geez, I feel like I've lived under a rock to have never seen this simple but beautiful stitch. I'm itching to try it. TFS!

Lots of parts to a stitch that looks simple but is sort of intricate. Fascinating stitch!
@@rachellee.9389 thank you!not that complicated when you get the movement 💪
Good..
What is this style used for?
@@faizahfakhruddin7068 Mostly for the borders and to decorate the clothes - hems and collar. It's a traditional stitch from the Basque country that was used for decoration of clothes and home textiles.
Each time you start out I think it's just a variation of a stitch you've already done but you surprise me every time! It may be a 'variation' in the broadest sense still, the finished product looks completely different. Brava, my dear.
@@rachellee.9389 thank you! It really is a variation of the fly stitch, but has a totally different look!
