Marcia (CAP) clearly does a good job helping people out of debt. However, does she really lead people in Jesus in the context of debt counselling? Is debt-relief advice mixed with evangelizing vulnerable people? Shouldn't these things be separated?

God knows the plans of the enemy before the enemy does. He can always outmanoeuvre the enemy. He has infinite insight. God is omnipresent, in every sphere. If ever you doubt His love and grace, remember He sees everything you do, think, see and say before it happens, yet He still chooses to choose you, love you, use you and forgive you. God offers a place to all. Elisha- one man- thwarted all the plans of the King of Aram and his armies. God uses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, the weak to shame the powerful. In Elisha's hand, the nation and its destiny changed. God's power in you can change someone's life. Those who speak God's message, like Elisha, are often unpopular. When the city awoke, overnight, a massive fighting force from Aram had mobilised around them, surrounding them. When Elisha's servant woke up, disaster had struck and he was terrified. He said to Elisha "what shall we do?" In his moment of fear and overwhelmedness, he reached out to someone else for help. We need others to support us as we walk the narrow path together. Others can help you to see options and have understanding that you wouldn't otherwise. Elisha did that for his servant. He said, "Don't be afraid." He reassured him that "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them." You may see the enemy looming large, but those who are for us are more than those who are against us. 'My faith says there's a way even when the facts don't.' The circumstances may not be good but how we see them is transformed by what we look through. We need to see things through the lens of God; from His victorious perspective. You can overcome whatever it is you need to overcome; God says there is a way and it's His way; God has more than enough. "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Elisha comes alongside his servant and prays. We see things differently through prayer. Victory, healing, deliverance, healing come through prayer. Elisha prays that God will show the servant what he cannot yet see: that the enemy soldiers were surrounded by angel armies; what appeared to overwhelm Israel, God was overwhelming. God has a plan. He wants to open your eyes that there is a way through for you; help is at hand. Elisha stands before the Aramean enemy and prays for God to strike them with blindness. God does. Elisha is able to lead the army into the king of Israel's clutches. Then when Elisha prayed again, God opened their eyes. Elisha tells the king of Israel not to kill them but to feed them as captives, then release them home to their leader. Peace reigns- the Arameans stopped attacking Israel. It seemed there was no human solution, but God brought about unimaginable resolution. Job said "I have no peace, no quietness, no rest but only turmoil." We walk through the valley of the shadow of death. But God blessed the latter half of Job's life more than the first, and he brings us through the valley, out the other side. 1) see yourself as God sees you. God loves you. He wants to show a grace to you like He showed to the Aramean army. There is no safer place to be than hidden in Christ. 2) Maybe the facts tell you there's no way out or forward. But God wants to show you that there is. And there are more for you than against you. 3) maybe you need an Elisha- someone to encourage you and challenge you and help you face a dark season. 4) maybe you are that Elisha to someone else: comfort, challenge or inspire them not to give up. Fix your eyes on Jesus and help them to fix their eyes on Him.
