I've been having eating attacks lately and I feel very emotionally overwhelmed. Almost a month ago, I introduced both healthy eating and regular pilates into my life, but everything suddenly fell apart. I also stopped doing pilates because my eating pattern was bad and I don't know how to get back on track.

I think the reason why we tend to put things off is because of how we're wired as human beings. For the vast majority of our existence as a species, we were conditioned to do urgent things first and delay what can be delayed. In our evolutionary past, immediate survival needs like finding food, seeking shelter, or avoiding predators always took precedence. Our brains became hardwired to prioritize short-term, concrete goals over abstract or long-term tasks, because that was what ensured survival. In this civilization we created, however, most of our tasks don’t carry the same immediate life-or-death stakes. The modern challenges we face, like managing deadlines, saving for the future, or personal development, require long-term planning and focus. Unfortunately, our instincts still push us to prioritize the immediate and visible over the distant and abstract, leading to procrastination. We tend to avoid tasks that don't feel immediately rewarding or that seem complex and overwhelming, opting instead for distractions that provide quick gratification. This mismatch between our ancient instincts and modern demands often causes us to procrastinate. Overcoming this requires conscious effort, self-awareness, and systems that help us break tasks into smaller, manageable pieces, making them feel more urgent and achievable in the short term. So, be self-aware, but also go easy on yourselves, guys! You're up against instincts that helped your ancestors survive for hundreds of thousands of years, so it's natural to struggle with procrastination. Just remember, with a little effort and patience, you can train your brain to focus on what truly matters. Great video btw! I suck at productivity these days and I need challenges like these to put me back on track. Very underrated channel, subscribed!
