Windy ?
@@EarthWatcher736 Yes, but at least not a cold, northerly wind. It's probably why there's no frost!
Looks like a cracking morning for your walk!
@@Eckyredtheunready You're right. For that time in the morning in January it was pretty mild & the ridge wasn't damp or frosty.
@ Such a contrast to the winter conditions, enjoy it!
@@Eckyredtheunready Thank You. There's still some deep completely frozen patches of snow on the fellside but they'll probably be gone soon.
Early bird....
@@EarthWatcher736 Got up early & such a nice morning thought it'd be good to get out & miss the possible crowds.
This is going to spark all kinds of found footage horror fiction stories. Crap that scary.
@@flsdfkln Thank You. Maybe he could get a cameo in a Werewolf scene!
That a wolf? 1:58
@@jay-nq6ii He's definitely one of those Canines that likes to be out & about on the hills a lot!
Oh frick. Missed that the first watch-through. I think I am going to go change my pants now.
@@flsdfkln Thank You very much for that. It's not so bad at times!
Nice weather up there today.
@@EarthWatcher736 Yes. Went up again & it was even nicer and drier on the ridge.
@LonscalePike so no crampons at the moment.
@EarthWatcher736 Surprisingly there weren't many about today & definitely nobody in crampons there!
Did you see anyone else on the Edge ! Prob not eh nice and quiet, how you like it!
@@julesvis Didn't see anyone on the ridge but it looked like some might have gone across earlier in the day. The fellside was very busy, skiing, snowboarding, sleighs, bikes, walkers, runners, dogs, ravens! All of them enjoying the snow before it gets washed away but I think the Ravens were just making the most of the remains of sandwiches & pies, etc!
-20C or warmer ?
@EarthWatcher736 It was milder than earlier in the week, the wind direction was southerly & not coming from the north. I reckon the rain tomorrow could wash most (or all) of the snow away!
Looks epic but unwatchable because of camera movement,
@@Outdoorshuntingshooting Thank You. I hold the camera in one hand & sometimes we have to get across the ridge quicker. If we go slower the quality is probably better but as I say we have to get a move on sometimes!
What’s the story on this video?
@@barrymarshall3592 It's Tommy (Collie) & myself going for a walk near to where we live. That's the story I suppose!
@@LonscalePike you live in the Himalayas?
Risk your life and possible rescue workers but for god's sake leave the dog at home.

@LonscalePike I live at the bottom of the fell too at st John's and I don't go up when I think I'm putting someone else or something else in danger ,your irony is wasted,I guess some people are just more considerate than others, is that clearer , who's the film for anyhow sheep followings?
@@Johnsmyth1 T
@LonscalePike well the north west 500 springs to mind, people follow what they see on TH-cam that's what is wrong, you obviously feel like your doing good, carry on.👋
@@Johnsmyth1 We're just going for a walk & record it sometimes. We'll be busy now for a while so there will be no more boring clips for you to complain about.
Still no crampons ?
@@EarthWatcher736 No, I've not got any. The first time this year was icy on the ridge & crampons would have been useful but since January 4th it's been mainly snow. It's thawing now though, I hope the weekend crowds won't be too disappointed if most of it has gone! I'm sure there will be a large number up there at the weekend so we'll be staying away & enjoying a bit of peace and quiet instead.
You and Tommy had company today ! The sky looked lovely and blue behind Blenny. Very attractive !
@@julesvis There were a lot about all over the fellside today, even late on lots were setting off with not much daylight left. We'll be staying away from there this weekend and have a bit of peace & quiet instead!
Good for you ! Take care of yourselves
@@julesvis You too, thank you!
Done that ridge in Dunlop Green Flash, shorts and T -Shirt .
@@ormsk954 There's a Nude Fell Runner whose been spotted on the fellside but up to now him & his swinging donger ain't been seen on the ridge.
looks like swimming weather
@@benguensche I might get my flip flops on next time as my boots let the snow in & are still frozen!
King Ang-ice!
@@RobinDS-m1g Thank You very much for that. I'll let him know!
Now that's severe. -10C ?
@@EarthWatcher736 The snow in the valleys was deep in places, a few steps & it was up to my waist in places. My boots are drying out now but will probably freeze!
Rocks fall, dogs slip, id have him on a rope and harness just in case. Same for crampons and ice axes, sure you can climb without them but it makes it more risky, if you slip with an axe you can try to arrest a fall, if you dont have one you slip all the way.
This feels like a video from the 90s haha
@@vidarhjal It's just a short clip. I can't remember how long the average 90s video lasted but they probably were all longer than this short clip!
Doge does not have climbing gear. Doge is at risk.

@@stephenhiggins8821 Thank You & Happy New Year! At least it's not been as wet & windy so far this year! The last few weeks of last year ruined a lot of my clothing, boots & camera.
Happy new year to you and tommy stay safe as well 👍🏻
@stephenhiggins8821 Thanks for that. You Take Care as well & enjoy a lot of wandering about in 2025!
Brave, someone fell off there and died other day!
@@robertrushton-o8y We went across the day after it happened & it was icy instead of snow. This clip is 2 days after it happened. Been across more than 2k times & the erosion has sadly multiplied on the ridge & Foule Crag recently. I've made a lot of clips going across there but I'm not going to make so many now because I don't want to encourage more erosion & certainly don't want to encourage any potential accidents. It would have been busy there because the accident happened during the Christmas/New Year holidays & I feel so sorry for him, his family, relatives and friends.
@LonscalePike Wow!, well done. I did it many yrs ago in the clag and found the ascent up foule crag just as nervy as the ridge.
@robertrushton-o8y Thank You. There's a steep gully on Foule Crag which is usually the best option if the surface is a bit tricky & damp up there.
Mental your still doin daily in this! Well done
@@mic.kelly86 Thank You very much for that. I've got a lot of things to do from now on so we won't be going out up there as much from now on.
@LonscalePike cool your doing it, was just checking in after the bbc News article! Keep safe if u do it tmoro
@mic.kelly86 Thank You very much for that, I really appreciate it. Today there was firm snow which seems much safer than ice! I think there's a good chance we're going to get snowed in tomorrow!
Wow ! Crampons ? Ice-axe ? Just boots !
@@EarthWatcher736 The snow was firm & solid on the rock in most places which is much better than slushy snow. Also, better than the torrential rain & wind that's ruined a lot of my clothing & camera recently!
@@LonscalePike but not even micro-crampons ?
@EarthWatcher736 No, I've never wore crampons. One day I'd like to try some micro ones because the lane where I live gets unbelievably icy & I reckon micro-crampons would also have been handy for yesterday because a lot of the surface on the ridge was verglas without much snow.
It's a good job you know where you are going ! Brrr rrr balaclava weather.
@@julesvis At least we didn't get soaked by the usual torrential rain & wind. Got quite a few things to do so Tommy might be disappointed that we won't be venturing up there too much!

Three times today !!!!
@@EarthWatcher736 I know, it can be embarrassing at times. I try to avoid eye contact with anyone we've come across earlier as they might think we're stalking them or we're just the local misfits!
@paolorossi8470 Thank You. Mostly just 3 times of rain, fog & wind!
@paolorossi8470 Sometimes we try to avoid some that we have seen earlier. You see, sometimes we do it & then go back home & do it again. We get funny looks from some people who ask why are we doing it again, etc! I suppose some find it amusing but others don't! For example, when one man seen us doing it again he said "You need your head looking at you, mate!" He wasn't joking, he was shouting!
@LonscalePike some people need to THINK before they say anything to you. A great acronym.
@EarthWatcher736 Thanks, it's not too bad. People say far worse things at work, in the pub, on the street, etc. Sometimes we divert & go a slightly longer route to avoid getting funny looks from some people who we've already seen or spoken to earlier.
That was funny , chap saying 'I guess your dog's done it before' If only he knew ! T the most Sharp Edge traveled doggie in Universe !
@@julesvis I stopped recording though because although I could hear people I didn't know where they were because of the fog. Then at the last moment I saw a large crowd in front at the worst and most dangerous spot to try & pass anyone. It's happened there a few times recently in foggy weather. I have to keep Tommy calm because he likes to play sometimes & gets excited but it's not the best place for it!
