Googling on PubMed, I found some interesting information on how much dogs do rely on sight for object discrimination, here: “Multisensory mental representation of objects in typical and Gifted Word Learner dogs.” Still an astonishing demonstration. Thanks for this video!!

Thank you for such an analytical answer😅 The thing is, I don't know myself how she does it. I changed combinations many times, sometimes she makes mistakes, but mostly she doesn't. I'm not pointing, that's true. We tried really many times. Sometimes she runs to the wong letter but suddenly stops and changes the direction to the right one. I believe it's a miracle😂

@@dianaandtaffy4943 Diana, that’s all the more astonishing. I found a scientific paper about an experiment that showed that dogs use their sight more than we think. The experiment involved a number of dogs who were asked to do an object discrimination trick in daylight (or a lit room), and then were asked to do it in the dark. You would think that their noses would make working in the dark equally easy, but it turned out that it slowed them down a lot, or caused mistakes-I don’t remember which. I sent you the title of the paper in a comment, but TH-cam deleted it because it referenced something outside of your channel. :-( I’m sure you could find it tho. Anyway, it’s fascinating to me that even you don’t understand how Taffy does it! I always laugh at commenters that say the dog is brilliant, when really it’s generally the trainer who is brilliant, or at least especially hard-working. I still believe this is true of you, 😉 but Taffy certainly must be one very smart cookie too! No doubt all the work you’ve done with her has taught her how to think and try hard to figure out what you want, and to want to do it for you. Thank you for sharing your amazing “miracle”!! 😄🐕💖

@@dianaandtaffy4943 I'm glad you're both adjusted to the temperature! Where I live, typically the winters range from -25C to -40C, but they have gone as low as -50C in the past. This year has been mild, perhaps -21C at its coldest so far. Please tell Taffy I am wishing her a happy 12th birthday this month! 😍
