This tool doesnt work for most breakers and not at all for commercial use u can take a male end cord cap with some wire and hook to a single pole switch leave the switch off then plug in wall turn switch on it will trip the breaker ( homemade ) cheaper then this over prices plug tester

If a breaker doesn't trip, then you know either the breaker or the wiring isn't up to snuff. Using a wire to short things doesn't tell you if your breakers will respond correctly when you need them to. So when you use a wire to short the circuit, you are rolling the dice. In some situations it'll seem like a cheap solution. In other situations it can wind up being costly and dangerous.

Why does it say residential use only ? It should work on any 15a or 20a circuit.
