Dust & Wood
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 1 พ.ย. 2022
Hi, I’m Dustin. I started woodwork in 2016 as a side hustle. By the end of 2020 my side hustle turned full time. I started my TH-cam channel in 2022 and hadn’t posted much until late 2023. I hope you enjoy my content. Cheers!

Bark edge, but whatever.
Bark edge?
Amazing
How would you do it better next time?
I would changed the way the wood looks against the resin on the mitre joint.
@dustandwood well try it next time, I think it shows class and reveals that it was made by you and not bought. I like it bro.
@@Brandon-Michael thank you!!
No offense but all dark in middle would of been better
My client liked the sapwood down the middle look. That’s what’s great about custom, you get what you want, not what other people want.
Is the c channels necessary? Ppl keep using them to stabize warping over time But if the wood wants to warp its gonna warp, only things you can do to make sure it doenst happen is to dry and mill it properly And use thick wood
I’ve had this discussion so many times and I totally agree with you. On thinner material I will still consider it but for the most part I don’t use it.
@dustandwood I guess the main reason ppl use them is to give them the illusion it helps... but also since woodworking is self taught alot of people are watching TH-cam woodworkers and thinking c channels are gospel when it comes to making tables... this is just my opinion
What's wrong with the joint. The grain pattern at the seam is outstanding.
Epoxy doesnt line up. At least thats whats bothering me a little bit. But then again i probably wouldnt buy a wooden countertop.
Right at the corner where the walnut is jagged. I might’ve done something different nowadays.
@@D3nn1syes, now I creat a void on both sides to give it a more natural appearance.
Remember@@D3nn1sIt's the authentic build people want. I understand your concern but it screams hand made. Of course you notice everything but the authenticity is so often lost on a perfect piece. What I see is how the grain curves to match up and the colors meet at the seem. You had to be happy with that. Wood is imperfect to begin with but that is key to this piece. One other thing. China could copy this making it identical to your piece using inauthentic materials such as plastic or man made material. That makes your not so perfect build ...perfect. I hope that makes sense.
I @@dustandwood just looked again . The point black fill direction is a knockout. It's not only a page from another book but it comes out directing towards the grain as it curves. This might not be you thing but I think it turned out nice.
I love working on projects, i bought a picnick table, and i decided to redo it. Its made of cedar, i wood burned the top of it. I followed the grain lines and burned the top, then i stained it like walnut, but i didnt leave it on to long. I did the same thing to the two benches, the rest of the table, the trim is painted the legs are black. It came out gorgeous, everyone loves it. One of my best pieces. I just put my heart into it. It no longer looks like a pinic table, but my work of art. Maybe you could wood burn the table. You could wipe the top with water, gently hook the jump cables up to it and let it burn. Or hand burn it like i did down the lines or grains. Just a suggestion, you will have to sand it again but well worth it.❤ I subscribed because i love working with wood and i see you have a passion for it too.
Thanks for the input and I appreciate the subscription!!
Damn, that looks sharp! I love the legs, is that called a trestle base?
Thanks, no it’s not. Just two legs made from the offcuts.
You can tell its going to France because it has Frageee-Le on it!
Niceee
Thank you!!
Looks great!
Thank you.
That's how I lost a finger! Use push pads!
I do when I feel it’s necessary.
@@dustandwood it is always necessary!
@@jeolman1if you say so….
Wow! Both look awesome!
Depending on the project I like all 3, good job man keep up the great work!
Thank you!!
Do you know if the board will be on a fixed setting like a table? I'm just curious if there's any worry about that bind breaking if the customer has some vision of carrying it around.
"Large". Understatement of 2024 lol. Looking great though.
Hahaha, ya they’re huge!!
The book matched joint looks really good when done probably can't even notice the joint
#1 to go with a contemporary household/furniture. #2 for decorative/art like home. #3 for cabin style to go with a place with a lot of other wood. However, all 3 are awesome.
Couldn't have said it better myself
🙌🙌
#2 looks amazing!
Thank you!!
Amazing Table, And the fact that you handled most of it by yourself is a testament to the dedication you show in the pieces you create. Very Inspiring, thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much, it definitely tested me and I’m super happy with how smooth the entire process was.
The sound of splintering, now go back and cut it for a good clean finish !
Wow... this turned out beautiful...
رائع 🎉
Beautiful table, I like the relaxed style of the video and the shots at the end looked really good.
I appreciate your feedback, thanks for watching!!
time vs cost?
It actually takes less time than you’d think. Plus it’s what the customer wants so I charge for it.
In OZ we got termites do that for free! Will even do ya whole house,no charge!
Hahahaha, no thanks!!
At it again? Nice!
Yup, it doesn’t stop 😂😂. Thank you!!
You have inspired me to get into these types of builds. Thanks brother.
Telling ya, that edge is going to make this project (but you knew that) :P
You betcha, thank you!!
The oil really brings out the grain(:
It’s my favourite part!!
Want to know what finish you just put on it to make it pop like that?
This is bio Supra from Ligna.
Nice wood 👍
Thanks 👍
Won't the sink hide it?
It’s an undermount sink going in, otherwise yes, it would’ve been hidden.
Surface plane?
They glued up really nice, just needed sanding.
My vision too...I can do this ..maybe ...”Build it and they will come”.... Absolutely beautiful....Thanks
Super work sir ❤️
That looked a pain in the bum to do ...............but it looks very good .. Thanks..
Hahaha, thank you!!

Hahahaha
🚨
Personally I don't like it. But gave a like for your effort.
Hahaha thank you!!
Looks badass. You have to love your craft enough to put in this kind of detail to what most would see as mundane. Great stuff.
Thank you !!
А почему не закрепили направляющую? В кадре видно как увело на 2-3 мм под конец реза.
Literally shows me clamping the guide.
@@dustandwood извините. Не понял сразу. Вы правы. Но ощущение, что направляющая двинулась есть.
@@D0r0g0ygood thing feelings aren’t always reality.👍👍
Just as a social experiment, would you ever try wax and feed by Howard? I think it would be a neat test to see if a product is a better result than Osmo.
I haven’t heard of wax & feed before.
Cutting out all the beautiful features.
How would you propose laminating these together?
@@dustandwood there are all kind of styles for a table you’re way is nice too.
@@Mong_Le_333 I’m doing a textured front edge on this countertop.
This is amazing perfect job!!🫡
Thank you!!
Looking at a track saw, should I get Festool or Milwaukee?
Makita xgt, liked it more than my festool I sold the festool kept the makita. Plus being cordless I use it much more since I can rip outside when needed.
If you have a Lee Valley nearby I think they will actually lend you Festool tools to test out before you buy them.
@@dustandwood makita xgt saws are just better overall, now the festool domino has the market cornered nothing beats it.
@@LiamG903 the domino is awesome!!
@@dustandwood there's just nothing as good or as easy than it. I'm not km your level skill wise but it sure makes life easy for an amateur
It is good sandpaper but the 3m is cheaper and i think is better.
I’ve used the 3m, it is good but I’m not sure if it’s better.
Dad never would never have done that
When I can I will always fix something.
Good job!👍
Thank you!
Personally, speaking at hanging on the wall of my shop and I’d go buy me a new one that’s what I’ve did with my two shovels and my dad gave me
