Hey what fork did you use for the rebuild? I have a ASX and I've been trying to find a new fork to replace the factory one. Please let me know! Thanks!
Do you know who sells a morphine banshee?
Banshee Bikes at www.bansheebikes.com/ Hope that helps, cheers!
Did you run this long term? How did it go?
Great Q. They have been flawless. I rode this bike yesterday. I have probably 12-13 rides in now as this is my "trail" bike and shifting is perfect.
I like the descendants, do you know if they are compatible with GX transmission?
Yes they are.
I have a 2007 ASX that is in great condition. XT, Juicy 7, Mavic crossmax wheels, etc. Any interest? Should I sell it on eBay?
In my experience, frames sell easier and are far cheaper to ship. Also, the person looking for a retro ASX build may not be interested in the Crossmax wheel-set, and the wheel-set will certainly sell on their own. So if you are moving on, prep the frame and take great photos so the next person can build their "dream" retro ASX, and do the same with the wheel-set for the buyer who needs them to complete their build. The rest of the parts you can include but don't have as much value and retro builds (again, in my experience) are very builder specific. Hope that helps and thanks for the note. I have another build under way and should have the vid up soon.
@@MTB-Garage Thank you sir!
Hi nice posts. I enjoy your passion for bikes. I have a small Yeti ASX that been collecting dust for 16 years. My son’s old bike. Sorry I am not social media savvy so I am not sure how to have a chat with you
Thanks for the note. How can I help?
@@MTB-Garage sorry for taking a bit to get back to you. I have an ASX small 2005. Really good shape otter than it needs a new front drive train. I would like to donate to you as I admire your passion for them. I love this bike but am downsizing. Like I said I am not tech savvy so if we could have a private conversation perhaps we could work things out.
@@johnsmith-ev3fu Wow, that is an amazing gesture. Sorry for the delay in getting back with you, work has been keeping me busy. You can DM me.
Just bought ac I'm 6,1 any recommendations lol just ride it let it ripp send it
Bikes use to look more interesting! 😅 Greetings from Kris from Croatia 😎
Agreed! And hello in Croatia. It's amazing that we can share the hobby this way around the world. More videos coming soon. Cheers
@@MTB-Garage Looking forward to more videos! Take care! Safe rides 🙂
what is boost brake spaceing and how to know if it has or not booost brake spaceing
I am called Jenson
Your videos are great! I love how descriptive you are about everything!
Thanks, appreciate the support! More coming soon.
@@MTB-Garage Good to hear, can’t wait.
I like this! Do more videos about the old and upgradable bikes! Personally, I have no interest watching videos about the highly priced bikes, that I can't afford!😅 Greetings from Croatia from Kris 😎
Copy that, I will. Thanks for the note and the support. Yeah, bike prices got insane the last 3 years. I am glad for these 30-50% off sales. IMO all bike retail should come back down 30%.
@@MTB-Garage Thank you! Take care 😎
Great Vid! Love those old Sessions. And that old Haro DHR?? I think those were the frames made by Intense (M1?) Pretty sweet. #MyFirstDHrigWasAbighit
Thanks. Yeah, I've had some amazing days on the old Session. More vids coming soon!
Love it! Great video and great projects!
THOSE BETD ROCKER PLATES THO!!!! Great to see you on another platform, old friend. Keeping those old AC's alive! It's kinda making me want another one...🤔 I'm your newest subscriber and can't wait to watch the rest of your content. -Poolguy55
Awesome! Great to see you too. Thanks for turning in. I've been doing this stuff, as you know, for over a decade. I finally decide to publish. Ironically, I almost started back in 2011, bought the GoPro version 1 (when it was new) and started editing. At that time download and upload speeds took so long I didn't move forward. I'm have a ton of fun with it now, and its healthy for me as it keeps me moving during the day. I have nerve damage in my back and since I work at home I am trying to get up often and do 15 min on a vid for some movement, and then back to the real job. Anyway, great to see you and I'll get back in the garage as soon as this arctic chill has passed.
Absolutely love the content, keep it up !
Thanks for the note and the support! See you in the next one.
Kind of in love with that Van....i rebuild them. Selling it or keeping it?
So far I have just replaced the oil. I am still hunting the top caps and I have a new axle on the way. Right now it is on the Giant AC, check that video build out if you have not seen it. Any idea where I can find the correct top-caps? I'll message you if I decide to sell the fork. Thanks for the note and the support.
best hardtail ever made! Awesome vid
Thanks, I appreciate the support! I should have another vid coming soon.
i think you and i should put our brains together and build a down hill bike i have some ideas lol
Haha, a remote build, could be fun. What DH build are you thinking?
I used to collect gems, watches and bikes, starting selling them was a huge improvement in my life, keeps the collecting in check with my finances 😂
I hear ya, I do the same. I usually have 3 that I keep long-term (DH, Endure/FR, Trail) and the rest I test them out and then send them back into the ecosystem for someone else to enjoy. Thanks for chatting, see ya in the next one.
Oh yeah, the DeeMaxxs are a special set! Get that TALAS serviced before it goes out. Mine was failing but i rebuilt it and saved it. The Morphine frame is truly a special piece!!
No doubt. You remember! Back in the day, if you had DeeMaxx's your bike was 20% faster and we were better riders. Ha, it was all in our heads but the wheel-sets are still sweet and perform well. Thanks for the note on the Talas and the support. Cheers
Just use the built in youtube CC subtitles
Thank for the note. I am actually trying this on the next vid that I am working on now. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it, learning as I go 👍
Just following-up. I used the built-in YT CC for my most recent vid. Thanks again for the input. Cheers
I do this same process! I buy older bikes when the deal is super good. I bury time in them( my loss but, my hobby so, not a loss) to rebuild EVERYTHING. The frame gets full torn down, cleaned, inspected, pivot bearings replaced if needed. Shocks are opened and rebuilt. Wheels rebuilt, brakes rebuilt, shifters and derailers rebuilt. Where do you sell??
Hi Nathan. Very cool. It is a LOT of work, as you know, but rewarding. You are clearly doing it the right way, keep it up. It has the added benefit that it keeps me moving and provides some much needed movement away from my all-day desk work. I have had a handful of surgeries including to my spine. I must keep moving or the nerve damage will increase. Anyway, thanks for the support and communication. I'll see you in the next one 👍
can you restore my cycle pls
I subscribed so fast a couple weeks ago when I saw you were rebuilding an AC, giving me some great inspo for my own build, just got an x-fusion metric that I’m getting ready to slap on my AC 🫡
That is awesome. Message me back when your AC is complete and let me know how it went. I have done 4 different AC's over the years; I do NOT recommend going more than 160mm in the front unless you are very tall. Keep me posted.
@@MTB-Garage you're spot on, 160 mm up front feels perfect i'm glad I was able to reduce the travel down from 180mm, and maybe just needs some more volume spacers in the shock since the 6.6" shock position felt super linear at first with an air shock
@@dantags98 Exactly. In my experience, all of these older 4-bar suspensions were very linear. Hope your build is going well. FYI, I am at 66 degree HTA as currently constructed. Which for 2005, was great.
@@MTB-Garage got to take it out on 2 big rides this past weekend and it’s a blast Not sure how accurate my iPhone measuring app is but I measured 65° HTA with the X-fusion metric The bike as a whole feels so good and it’s crazy how well it does for how old it is, and I mash on it being 220lbs and using it as my main bike Pleasantly surprised how this freeride-intended bike climbs, could be the 1x9 11-46 I slapped on LOL Just saw your most recent vid as well, your other bikes are sick! 🔥🔥
What's tire size that bike? Got 26x250 front but duno what should put on rear
grat video but i would recomend that u use some full hd camera or just phone camera it would look great i am on pc so i dosent look so good
Hi, thank you, and thanks for the specific feedback. My software for some reason only gave me the option to upload 720p. I thought that was weird bc everything is filed in either 1080p or 4k. Thankfully this is the only vid (of the 9 I have done) where I got that 720p limitation. I will look into it and be sure everything going forward uploads in at least 1080p. Appreciate the specificity about your experience on PC, and the support. See you in the next one, Eric.
@@MTB-Garage and also great bike i love the old full suspensions i wish there was some from where im from
nice break down of the process.
Thanks, appreciate it!
😴 "PromoSM"
I would recommend you to put the subtitles down and it will look better without the black background. if you need help with cutting and editing the video, I can help you if you want. Otherwise great topic and video I enjoyed watching. I believe that if you enjoy it and you continue this for a long time, you will have a big channel. Good work keep it
Thanks! Yeah, I was thinking the same going forward. Also, the black background was an "oops" via a screen adjustment that I missed. I have it fixed going forward. Appreciate the support 👍, II'll keep it in mind. I'm learning a little with each video.
channel is about to blow up fr
Thanks Man, appreciate the support! I'm learning w each video 👍
Great video keep it up ❤
Just picked up an ASX for a STEAL. Gonna do my best to rebuild it!
Nice! It is a burly frame for sure. I was really pleased with how the build turned out with 180mm dual-crown fork and 65 degree HTA.
Your channel is great! I’d lose that twangy music you have on repeat though.
Thanks man! Yeah, I'm still figuring out music. It will get better, I'm learning, but it's fun. Appreciate the feedback. See you in the next one.
same here! 2012 wilson with 27.5 front 26 rear
Nice! I'll have footage a different time of mine but it really transformed the ride. I can see why it is all the rage for Rampage and other event's just fun. I still like pure 26" from time to time as it is so familiar from the old-days, but the 27.5" x 26" is a no-brainer if a fork can accommodate.
I have a asx too
Nice! They certainly have a following here in CO. I have another vid coming soon of the 2005 ASX with the complete rebuild completed. I love how burly the frames of these bikes are. Are you running single or dual crown?
Cool old bikes😎
Thank. Sorry for the camera and sound. I did my best last minute with just my phone and some earbuds. But I was glad to grab some footage of the bikes. We did 4 DH runs together, and ended up with a train of 15 26" bikes, some guys showed up at the top of the mountain so I wasn't able to grab footage of their rigs. It was good times.
