I think best version of this, something i thought: You be always shaped by past but you pick new pieces that will mold you. Past can be something you can still be fond of, i don't think there's any realistic harm to it, future is unexpecting outcome although. Only harm you could bring is by being ignorant of future, cutting off all pieces of yourself and just staying as sharp piece for everyone else cause that one moment, that same sharp piece from past is stuck in yourself and you believe you can't remove it so you hold on that same outcome of old feelings despite that memories is nothing but pain. That's not worth anyone's time and neither is yours, have good day.

There is some good wisdom in what you've said but I would argue that nostalgic is a great tool in reminding yourself of what makes you happy. Remembering the joy you once had for some cartoon show or playing a game for the first isn't something necessary wrong. It's how you approach nostalgic that counts. You go back to something you enjoyed as a kid or back when you were in a different place and see something different, something realer about yourself. At least that's what "chasing nostalgia" has done for me. It helped me better understand myself. Don't be afraid of nostalgic, it's a part of you but don't let it shallow you either.
